chrgod
My first really quality replica, two years ago, was the ETA2836 Omega Seamaster Professional, the James bond watch. It was an excellent choice, ans fueled my interest in replica watches. Personally I yet have have to see a better and more accurate replica.. The new Seamaster Pro Chrono is close, in some ways better, but still not quite the same level. Seamaster Pro from Silix, and SMP Chrono from TTK. Wave pattern is present on the regular SMP to the left as well, even though it does not appear in the photo. The difference in the pearl is very obvious. I am still enthusiastic about my SMP. Later purchases of Panerais, Breitlings and Rollies have had their fair share of my attention, but the SMP is the one that gets most wrist time. The chrono-version of the SMP was one of few watches that grabbed my attention several years ago, before I got into wristwatches and replicas.. When there finally was a good copy of it, I did not hesitate! The regular Seamaster Professional and the Chrono version are two different watches, but having much in common, they can be compared in some ways. The following is some observations and reflections. The Seamaster Chrono is one of the iconic Omega watches. It was launched in 1993, and won the "Watch of the year" award in 1994. There are still very few chronometer-certified chronographs, and even fewer which are certified for use at 300 meters. The genuine There was even a Titanium/Steel version, as well as Titanium/Gold. If you don't like troublesome chronos, you can always go for this version: The very special multi calender Seamaster Professional I bought my watch from TTK, from the very first batch. With mixed luck with the 7750, I thought it would be wise to spend some extra to get an inspected watch. TTKs first offerings did not include bezel insert alignment, but TTK sent me an aligned watch anyway! Very good! My watch arrived after 18 days, just when I started to get a little bit worried. TTK writes on his instructions that average shipping is about 16 days, so it was as expected. I was never in doubt! Initial impressions of the Seamaster Professional Chrono is very good. The first thing that strikes me are the wave pattern. It is much more prominent than on the regular Seamaster Pro replica. It catches light in a very special way. The AR could have been better, as usual. Wristshot. It is 22.30, so the date has started to shift. The SMP Chrono is a thick watch, compared to the regular SMP. The links in the bracelet are also somewhat thicker. Overall fit and finish is very very good.. Fit between endlinks and case, bezel and case and pushers are all good. However, the bezel insert sounds a bit loose when tapping on it with a fingernail. I believe it is properly fixed though, just some gap between the bezel and insert. The pearl on the bezel is misaligned. All the watches seem to suffer from this at the moment.. The pearl itself seems to be quite close to the gen. The bezel turns a bit more freely than on the regular SMP, but still with proper
gillorin
Great writeup, stunning watch. Can't wait for mine to come. Also worth mentioning that your particular watch has the correct datefont.
hank7502
Great writeup, stunning watch. Can't wait for mine to come. Also worth mentioning that your particular watch has the correct datefont. I ordered mine from Josh on Tuesday. I always get the extra service (cleaning and oiling movement and waterproofing) I think it's worth the extra $120.00. I can't wait to receive it. Thanks for the write up, it makes me want the reg Seamaster also!
Helmut
Excellent write up, chrgod! I too have ordered one from Josh last weekend. Really looking forward to getting it. Depending on how the bezel, crysyal and case back look, I may pop off to Offrei and 'mix and match' with some gen parts. I didn't know about the extra pre delivery cleaning/service? Where are the details for it please?

chrgod
Great writeup, stunning watch. Can't wait for mine to come. Also worth mentioning that your particular watch has the correct datefont. Thanks! Yes, I have been lucky to get good datefont on both my SMPs. Actually, the datefont on the Asian 7750-powered Chrono is similar to my ETA 2836 SMP..?
gillorin
Yep, they should be the same font. The Seamaster's use the standard ETA daterings, but some of these SMP chrono's have been shipping with the same movement as the TAG Link chrono's, which have the wrong font. Finepics
Excellent review. No reason why the chrono pushers would not be watertight. The makers use a standard type pusher made the same way as gen pushers and all have internal O rings which should be good for at least 30m if not 100m depth. By-Tor
AWESOME writeup Chrgod. It was a real pleasure to read this!!! Two lovely watches there. My original Bond SMP a permanent keeper for me as well. Actually I like it so much that I probably purchase this and the GMT model eventually... to get the whole trio. This comparison goes linked straight to the Omega guide. Thanks. Yeah, too bad about the 6'subdial slipping. It's annoying but completely harmless. My Navitimer had the exact same problem. Perhaps you can get it fixed only when (and if) the movement starts giving you some problems... or needs service. It's not uncommon even on the genuine 7750-powered watches. jeff g
EXCELLENT Review. Thanks. I have to agree with you on almost all your points concerning the difference between the SMP and the Chrono. I too like the slimness of the non chrono cases. Of all the SS sport watches I own, like many others, the SMP is my favorite 'daily beater' without a doubt. I own 3 Omega models currently. I did not like the PO. I look forward to another review from you in the future. Negative attributes of a watch, are equally as important as the positive.

chrgod
Thanks for all the good feedback! This forum (as well as TRC and the previous RWG) has really expanded my knowledge and fueled my new hobby. All the excellent reviews I have read during two years have inspired me a lot! Sometimes I feel that I am too much into details.. We are spoiled with good reps. but, that is what makes this hobby fun.
scooter14
[The major disappointment with this particular watch is that it suffers from a well-known fault on chronos; continuously running Chrono-hours counter. The subdial @6 runs even though the chrono is not running. This is due to a cam that does not retract properly, as The Zigmeister explained in an article..] This may be unique to some dealers or "production runs"... I just received my SMP Chrono from Josh and the "six" subdial only runs when the chrono is running. Otherwise it sits there nice and quiet waiting for something to do. Anyone else see this? GREAT REVIEW!!!! Thanks. Edited October 29, 2006 by scooter14
