Hi there guys, I'm Denis, dropping in to say hi to all you guys here @ RWG. Nice fora you all have, tons of great info and nice ppl. I am no noobie to the rep game, been around for a bit over @ RWI. The site being down finally caused me to post here But, I do like it here and very much enjoy browsing. For some of you that don't know, I am a Rolex fan and have worked and modded some nice pieces. My favorite is the 1680, here is a pic of my grail build. This already awesome Bonesey sub got little make over today, I cleaned the lume up a bit and matted the dial. Then I decided to give it a proper photo shoot and celebrate this great watch!!! Here are some specs from Bonesey: Gen Eta low beat 2846 Movement Crownguards trimmed inside, re-shaped outside edges Installed Gen crown and tube Re-lumed dial, hands, pearl Installed Clark T127 Bezel faded and aged Bracelet aged, teflon lubed Waterproofed to 3 BAR Regulated to < 10 sec/day All gaskets and seals lubed Rotor bearings greased with Moebius 9010/2 Bones did most of the work, I've added the following... I posted this over on RWI, wanted to share with some of you. I hope you enjoy it, keep in mind this tuto is for the noob... its meant to be easy and affordable way to take a rolex apart! Hello fellow Member, I thought out about what I could contribute to the community and I believe that I can indeed be of some benefit. The Watchbit Contest inspired this Idea, why not show how to do simple mods or adjustments using only a screwdriver, needle, Tape, lug bar tool and a pair of tweezers. Most members would have easy access to these tools and could perform mods or hone their skills before committing to purchases of costly tools. Believe me, if you are a complete NOOB (like me) you can do this. What this guide will show you is how to : -Remove Case Back -Remove / Insert Stem -Remove / Attach Rotor -Remove Movement Tabs -Remove / Insert Movement -Remove / Attach Hands -Remove / Dial -Apply Date Wheel cover How? : Using simple tools available everywhere. Tools Needed : -Screw Driver (mini set) -Needle (about the thickness of a lug) -Lug Bar Tool -Tweezers -Tape How to Remove case back: This is going to be the easiest one, 1.) Ball up a stretch of tape ( I like to wrap the tape around a paper towel) and place it on the case back. 2.) Unscrew. And Voila! You have just removed your first case back, congrats! How to Remove / Insert Stem : 1.) You will notice a pusher right next to where the stem enters the movement, usually top side (marked pink here 2.) use a needle to slightly press the lever and pull crown out of case. Done * follow same steps for inserting the stem How to remove the rotor : 1.) Use a small screwdriver to unscrew the rotor and pull screw out with tweezers (blue screw pictured or screw in middle of rotor) 2.) Use the tweezers to get a hold of the rotor and lift up 3.) Place the screw and rotor in a safe place **use same steps to reattach rotor, Note that you most line the rotor up with the straight line. Bada Bing bada boom, You just removed the rotor ! Remove Movement Tabs : 1.) Use a screw driver to remove the movement tabs (you will notice two little clamps screwed down holding the movement down) and use tweezers to remove the screws and tabs. I noticed that screwdrivers intended for watch making are a lot finer so, use a tad bit of sandpaper, a super fine gird and sharpen that screwdriver edge to make your work a little easier. 2.) Place the movement screws and tabs in a safe place, notice that on this watch the screws are different...nicht gut, but easy to replace. ***use the same steps to attach movement screws Congrats! now we can take the movement out!! How to remove movement for case : 1.) anything solid here will help, I used a small cup similar to what you would put sauce in. Place this over the movement and flip... Pull the case up and ... You got the movement out!!! See here that the movement ring was stuck on this one, just used some finger power to pull that off... And no, you shouldn't handle your movement this way but being that we are using the minimal amount of tools in this guide it is required. How to Remove / Set Hands : *Note that this method is not recommended for it can damage your dial and if you are too rough, the hands aswell. 1.) Reinsert the crown and set the hands to 12 o'clock (second hand already removed) 2.) Use a lug bar remover to slide under each hand, one by one and gently, I mean baby ass gentle push up to pop off the hands And bam! you got the hands off! Steps for reinstalling the hands are the same, use tweezers to position the hands over the cannon pin and press them down (GENTLY) one by one. How to remove a Dial : 1.) Unscrew the little screws you will find on both sides of the movement Lift dial up and you are set! Apply Date Wheel cover This one is pretty much trial and error, to center the date perfectly is near impossible... but getting close to perfect is always possible Use tweezers to match up the sides of the layer to the dial and practice your patience. Before: After: Bam I hope some members were able to benefit from this post. This is made for us amateurs and minimalist in mind. When I first started tinkering with watches this is all I had, now I dont know how I would live with out a Bergeon Hand tool... This was loads of fun for me to put together so I hope you have enjoyed reading along. Thank you all

Hi guys, RWG noobie here Not a noobe to rep game, Im a active member @ RWI and have just recently started reaching out to some other foras....just poking my head in and seeing whats going. A little about myself... I am a big Rolex fan, mostly vintage beause all the new ceramic hype just bores me. I mod a little on the side and I am always building something. Most of my builds are 1680s since this is my favorite watch. My dream GEN would probably be a Blue FG nipple dial 1680! I drool every time I see one! I just recently got into APs and have orderd my first, a Safari for my bday this coming weekend. Super excited. I've also been in the Hublot game a bit and enjoy them, learned quickly that a gen clasp and strap is the way to go if you are going to wear one for more than 30mins. I'll be sharing some of my knowledge with you guys and just want everyone to know that I am glad to be here.
