  1. Thanks for this. Here is a macro pic of the hands because the lume color looks almost perfect to the naked eye, but I'm sure the dome is playing a part since the reflections are so tough
  2. Thanks i guess. I've seen a fair amount of reps with the ST hands and assumed they were fairly well accepted and while these don't look too different from many of the gen pics I've seen, maybe I'm not looking for the right things. Thanks. I will and I really do love the dial.
  3. Thanks high. That's what I figured. To your hand suggestion, is it a matter of the hands themselves or the lume. In natural light I actually think the lume color matches perfectly.
  4. Damn, I'm considering a 1520 as well. Can't seem to find too many out there.
  5. Hey all. I just picked up a beauty of a 5513 with a genuine spider dial (that I am in love with) from here specs are: Gen 5513 WG spider dial Gen 703 Crown Gen Eta 2846 ST hands Cartel case WSO 580 endlinks on rep 93150 I've always toyed with the thought of going uber franken and would welcome any ideas from the group as to available options vs cost. I would like to have a correctly engraved case so I can throw this on leather occasionally and have already spoke to engraving guru JMB, however I am wondering if it is worth it to have him engrave THIS case or if I should go another route. I'm also a bit unsure about the current bezel as it has a fair amount of vertical play and appears to rock from side to side. This segways nicely into my next thought about the insert, which I'm not sure is accurate and wouldn't mind a slightly faded insert. I do however, love the dial and the crystal which is the original cartel but the dome effect is great. So if you've made it this far, thanks and I'd welcome any thoughts in the vein of "here's what I would do" ranging from keep it to get a gen 1520/30 and phong case. Obviously there is a point where it becomes smarter to suck it up and buy a gen but I'd like to hear what options you would consider. The dome/superdome on this makes head-on photos difficult but here is a general shot A great one of the spidering And another with a massive overhead light reflection, but it gives an idea of the CGs and overall case shape.
  6. Hey there. Just picked up a great 3717 Exupery chrono with double AR, eta date wheels and a gen strap and love it with two exceptions, the subdial shiny-ness and the caseback. I've read lots of threads (most from 2008) when this came out and most of the members involved in the discussion or suggested as mods are no longer active. One seemed to suggest that a skilled modded could apply a matte finish to the subdials - can anyone recommend someone? It would also be nice if that person could put some blue line on, but I don't really mind that. Finally I need to replace the 1/250 and 2345678 on the caseback. I know it's difficult getting a gen back since they are numbered but I'd either like mine to be removed or to be honest I would take just a standard 3717 back over the current one. Any thoughts?
  7. I think your price point is in the middle of the realistic options - too low for a true v72 grail build and mor than enough for a Spinmaster DW build. Here is my 6239 (I bought from CC actually)
  8. I got this as well and followed a guide over on RWI. I didn't really feel like it made much difference, mind throwing up a quick primer on your method?
  9. I bought from another member here but search for spinmaster and you should be able find more info. This is a 6239 and I also have another tri-color PN dial.
  10. Try and pick up a Spinmaster PN I love mine
  11. Here was the one that sold on TRF - no price though. Sorry I remembered it being a more fleshed out post.
  12. I've seen them a few times, each time they are sold in minutes and at outrageous prices. I think there was one on TRF the other day - let me try and grab the link when I get back to my desk.
  13. Is this a green crystal or does it just have the green edges?
  14. I've actually heard that you can't get a gen GV crystal - that you have to send it back to Rolex to have it replaced - but of course this is all based on hearsay
