Always stick with Trusted Dealers. Our list can be found here, but not all the addresses are up to date

  2. Hi Misiekped,

I just purchased a watch from one of the trusted dealers and noticed the minute hand was set about a half hour fast, so I decided to "fix" it. Needless to say i didn't fix it. I could really use your help! I also have a few other watches that could use cleaning. Please let me know if you're available to do the work. We can discuss further via email. I really don't want to flush a nice watch down the toilet due to my bad eyes and sausage fingers.

    Thanks,

    Haig

I edited your email address out, but sent it on to @misiekped by PM. Not good to post your email in an open thread friend😀

  5. Greetings from the newest noob.

Just to get me started, if you were going to look for a decent replica Rolex Day Date, and a GMT II Batman, from where would you suggest I purchase.

    Thank you veterans, in advance.

Welcome to the community. We were all new once and most of us still remember. Really you might be better posting this question in the new members area for a better reply.

You should dedicate a couple of evenings to reading in the Rolex section if that is your interest. I can tell you from my own experience as a new member that it will baffle you, confuse you and leave you with more questions than before, but slowly as you continue to read, the clouds will part and you will start to realise you know and understand what is being said.

As to purchasing, stick to Trusted Dealers, there are all kinds of scams and pitfalls on internet sites. For a ceramic GMT, Noob is the best available and can be modded with genuine parts if you wish. Day Date I am not sure about. A couple of our members build franken Day Dates, that is Ines with genuine dials, but they run over $750 so may be more than you wish to pay.

  6. I've always wanted to purchase a Rolex Submariner for my father who is a retired submariner. And I myself have fallen in love with the Omega moon phase watch in the last few years. Very recently, like a week ago, I stumbled upon pics of a Girard Perregaux skeleton. Now I am onto researching Girard Perregaux and find myself really digging the Traveller. Alas, with 4 children, one in college and another on the way there in 2 years, my opportunity of owning an authentic watch of my desire seems to be getting further and further out of reach. So I'm looking at getting a high quality swiss eta movement clone. I can do $700 but there's no way I can do $7000. Any suggestions on where to go for a high quality Girard traveller replica?

Welcome to the forum. There are some very, very convincing submariners to be found starting at about 130 Dollars. Unfortunately I don't think you will find a GP Traveller you are happy with. The problem with any skeleton watch is that because the movement is on show, a replica will never look very close. GP are a movement manufacturer and have supplied other high end watch manufacturers, JLC and Patek for two. A rep, made in China is not going to have a movement of anywhere near the same quality and unlikely to have the same layout.

Have a good read of threads on the forum and get to know a little about this hobby. I'm sure you will soon find a list of watches you like. As a rough rule of thumb, the simpler the watch, the more convincing the copy.

      Best wishes
