  3. Thank you sir (for a man who KNOW's how to smoke some meat). My step father in law bought an electric smoker (yes, it's cheating but) and some indigenous Texas puhkhan not PEEcan that was 47 years old that my grand daddy planted in 1968. Some Texas made Adkins BBQ Rub and BOOM it was on 20 hours and pretty dadgum good too w/cole slaw and macaroni salad and the works. The weather was beautiful too. Here is a few pics of The Rockin K Ranch for those who wonder. This is my back tank (pond) where we shoot an i have been shooting 45-46 years.
  4. jmb can chime in about the Spring Fling as a whole. Add a gtg to the festivities and oh my,,,,that has the potential to be epic I think. This year we smoked 4 pork shoulder Boston butts for pulled pork w/47 year old indigenous Rockin K Ranch pecan (puhkhan..one syllable). ALl the fixin's and more. We shot guns for a few hours, some fished, some sat around. leese779 made a "yard Yatzee" game. Prolly had 30 people at 5pm. Then came the pit fire round table, Smore and More hang out. The Fling is in what used to be my grandparents garden...a space in back of the 1 acre home site that is like 165'x75'. It's pretty serene if i do say so myself. I'll out some pics and video of the Fling soon but the real gage will be a nod from jmb, so we'll see when he reads this and chimes in. I have his thread on RWI, RWGbz and here at RWGcc....so
  5. Howdy fellas, There has been some banter and seeming interest in having a Dallas/FtWorth area GTG here at my ranch during one of our shindigs. There were a couple of guys here thos past spring @ the 7th Annual Rockin K Ranch Spring Fling. Tucker (RWI) and jmb (rwgcc) both were here and they both said it would be kick ass. I am 40 minutes from Downtown FtWorth...Tucker drove from Plano and.. I am blessed to have a damn nice ranch, room to spare, a tank to fish, a tank to shoot, land to ride, hide and roam. Food DEELUX, and all that that emcompasses. These other guys can elaborate on the accommodation at the venue. Some of my euro friends have even expressed interest. Now IMO, next year in the Spring would be THE perfect gtg as the weather, the greenery, the time involed etc. So, if there is a snowballs chance in hell, let's kick it around and see if......You know what I mean. My 58 acre ranch is a piece SW of Forth Worth, Texas. It's an easy drive from Dallas, Austin wherever. This Spring Fling leese779 throws in a weekend extravaganza of the highest order. The ranch house sits a 1/4 mile from the rural hwy...Space and more space, a serene picturesque ranch that was my grand parents. IT DOE NOT SUCK. So, I am just kind of taking y'all tempatures for interest. If it goes down, i'll be following up. robbie The Noob Messiah P.S. I doubt anyone will want to show up but you nevah know.
