  1. ^^ Thanks for the advice there. All of a sudden and somewhat ironically soon as I get a post going on RWI, the thread here starts going finally 😆. So it's very much sounding and contrary to many of the all too casual comments over on RWI, it's a pretty stupid idea to try to mod the 3135 gen datewheel to fit the 2824 rep movement. So I guess next question is anyone have an opinion on this DWO I ordered last week? Will it do the trick or be a waste of in terms of an improvement?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/WHITE-DATE-DISC-WHEEL-OVERLAY-OPEN-6-9-FOR-ETA2836-DG2813-MIYOTA-FIT-3135-ROLEX/352379961595?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 One last debate that's sparked back up is reusing the ARF gasket vs a gen one when fitting the gen crystal. I had read last week that the gen just wont fit the arf case properly. But just now I get a comment from someone contradicting this and saying to use the gen gasket: https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/rolex-tudor-replicas/6714456-arf-116610-904l-2824?p=7305716#post7305716 For what was talked up over on RWI as the two nice mods to do for this model, it's turning out to be a lot more of an s-fight than I'd expected...
  2. Hate to come straight back at you this, but after just posting on RWI yesterday finally, I had a member come back pretty quickly and say it was possible to mod the datewheel and pointed to threads (non-specifically) where it was discussed: https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/rolex-tudor-replicas/6714456-arf-116610-904l-2824/page197 I did find this post on another thread on RWI as well claiming gen datewheel is doable: https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/rolex-tudor-replicas/7083198-arf-submariner-2824-ss904-question-on-date-wheel?p=7241017#post7241017 I'll also ad that even though I have been a rep enthusiast for like 12 years and enjoy reps a lot but I don't get to study movements that closely externally or otherwise -I briefly had noob V9 sub but didn't get to do such a comparison as I didn't ever have them at same time.. In a similar vein, if I asked you to go over to AVSforum and get into a discussion with me on HDR Tonemapping using UHD players vs V.P.'s you'd probably give me a strange look lol...
  3. Thanks for that. I was actually looking for a dedicated thread much like the one on RWI but none seems to exist for this model here, that's where I would have asked it first off. Otherwise I took the punt in this section which I quickly gathered like some parts of various forums just isn't patronised enough. As it is my own piecing together of info seems to have answered all of the queries I had and given me enough to go on with watchmakers.
  4. Not much activity on this forum, really wish my RWI account was working. Meanwhile I've found yet more info on RWI which actually contradicts many comments in the actual watch thread on there. I am now on the path to sorting the crystal with no issue. However, I had another watchmaker who's handling the crystal comment the datewheel would not fit. I was somewhat perplexed given what had been stated on the RWI thread about the model many times. Turns out in another thread asking the specific question, the 2824 movement cannot have the gen datewheel swap in the same way the 3135 version can. The only option is to ad an inexpensive DWO to it to fix the font issue. So now I'm just waiting on that and we're on track to sort these ARF's finally.
  5. Do you guys not every hangout at RWI? The ARF hulk is above and beyond the Noob by a ways, can't believe no one's even mentioned it here. I currently own both. No wonder I can't even get answers in the mod section to my questions on doing the crystal in my ARF lol. https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/rolex-tudor-replicas/6714456-arf-116610-904l-2824
  6. I also meant to add, not that most familiar won't know but these current ARF's are 2824 movement version. I've also read some info regarding using the ARF seals as gens don't fit properly.
  7. Hi gents, been a while. I recently got two of the excellent ARF hulks off Angus at Puretime for myself and a good buddy. I also sourced the gen datewheels and crystals to do the recommended upgrade mods. So I had my buddy who's a watch fan like myself first take them to a good watchmaker/repairer. After a week this guy came back and started saying if the crystal mods were done the waterproofing would be compromised. I immediately said to my buddy, WTF, that just doesn't compute. So we then took them to another guy whom I know quite well and low and behold he quoted the same thing. We're about to hit up another watchmaker but I wanted to get some solid feedback in case we hit any further dramas. Thanks
  8. I just bought a RG HBB from Andrew. I'm pretty happy with it so far , but I'm no real expert either. Definitely the dearest rep I've bought to date. I hope I don't come to regret buying it if a better version comes along in the next short while!
  9. I really like the Ceramic Bez RG and I had my finger on the trigger to get one for a few weeks now. My rule of thumb with reps is I see it as a waste of time to spend much than more than 10% of the cost of the gen on a rep. I have found some stainless Tags, Omegas and the recent Porsche Design Flat 6, which I initially got excited about, fit in that category where I'd rather just get the gen. However, watches like the HBB I like are $20k plus so $1k isn't out of proportion.
