  1. I've seen sizes range from 26.5mm to 29mm. Anyone know the 'desired' size?
  2. I had a 40mm polar Explorer a while back, and I really liked it.. not quite sure why I got rid of it - just wanted a change I guess. Now I'm wondering.. is there any rep variation with lug holes? Or has anyone drilled them themselves on one of these?
  3. Hi I'll introduce myself properly shortly and give a full breakdown of my watch box in due course! Suffice to say that I've been watching from the shadows on here for a while, muddling along with my own projects with the help of a very friendly and capable watchmaker. However, now we've hit a wall and could really use some help! We've been attempting to build a 5500 Explorer Franken from the following parts: - Gen 15000 Case / Back / Bezel - Gen Crown / Tube - Tropic 13 Crystal (slightly loose fit, but closet I could find - needed a bit of glue to keep it in place) - ETA 2824 Movement - Yuki 5500 Explorer dial (with feet removed) - Yuki ETA Hands - Raffles Time No. 2 Movement Ring Now all has gone together just fine so far, with the exception of the last item (the movement ring). The ring fits the case and ETA movement perfectly, but there doesn't seem to be anything for the case clamps to fit onto (i.e. there is no groove in the case). It looks like the original movement (3035) fits in the case with no movement ring, and that the screws on the movement holds into the case thread. Not sure what to do next - ideally looking for a DIY solution that doesn't involve lots of specialised machining! Has any one else succeed in one of these builds? Would one of Stilty's rings work better that the Raffles version? Apologies to arrive with lots of questions... Any suggestions gratefully received...
  4. Hi! I would like to buy a Milgauss black dial or explorer 2 black latest and best version and I have a question: both the gen watches have matte black dial, does the rep have it? If you have also other advices please tell me
  5. I just got my Exp II 42mm 216570 rep from Mary and Rochest. They have been very good and I would buy from them again. It's not perfect, and a bit large for my lithe wrist, but I'm looking to wear it for a couple of months to see if I like it enough to get the GEN. I was wondering if we have any people on our forum that can modify some of the main issues below; The date is off (a bit high in the window). Hands are in the wrong order. The hour hand is supposed to be closest to the face (see F pic -GEN on right side). I went to an AD and saw that the GEN hour hand is amazingly close to the face. Would be nice to have a GEN face or at least GEN hands, especially the orange GMT hand is not exact orange and it's a bit too long. The number 4 on the bezel looks like the correct size but the 6 looks small, as does the 8. Overall it's a nice rep but I would like to improve the listed items. Any suggestions? The lume shot was amazing after getting charged in the California sun for a few minutes! A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H.
  6. Does one exist? I would love to have a chapter ring gilt dial on my Explorer, but when I checked last, they were no more than a figment of imagination. Has someone found/created a decent dial?
  7. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and after browsing around for a few days I've decided I'd like to purchase a Rolex Rep. At the moment my preference goes to the Rolex Explorer II 42mm with white dial and Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement on Josh's site. Does anyone know if this is in 316L of 316F SS? Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with this watch in particular or other Rolex reps from his site? What is best to look for in the QC pictures? And since I live in Belgium: what are the chances of receiving it with and without the "shipping from EU' option? Sorry for the mountain of questions but I'd like to be sure I will be happy with my purchase. Thanks in advance!
  8. I have recently put up for sale a genuine Precision Explorer case, and I am amazed to see how unknown this watch is. Underappreciated, that what it is, and only because it is 2mm smaller than her famous sisters. But the Precision Explorer is also dramatically cheaper !!! So for a 2 millimeter difference people won't go for this one, when it is the best value you can get - if you want to go all gen - for a 60's or 70's sports Rolex priced below 2.000 euros. I have a 19 cm wrist, and I wanted to share how I wear it. I took some pics beside a small selection of other Rolex watches I have to show there isn't much difference actually. And I also took some wrist shots of course... Note that I am also a Panerai enthusiast, and that I wear well extra large watches... I'd say the Precision Explorer is somewhere between the reverso and the modern Rolex: the slightly smaller size confers it a very elegant aspect that I appreciate very much for it to be different from what the mass wants today ! Hope that small topic can awaken some interest for that god forsaken Rolex. Cheers !!!
  9. What movement are you guys using for CHS for a GMT Master or Explorer II? My Gen has, top to bottom: SEC > MIN > GMT > HOUR my rep has: SEC > MIN > HOUR > GMT Really bothers me the GMT is bent slightly up so it can clear the Hour Markers. What movement are you guys using to replace it? If so, where did you get the hands? Or is the alternative to find a CHS Hand set and keep same movement.
  10. Hi I would like to buy a rep explorer 214270: 1. dial. 2. hands that fit 21j (dg2813) movement. I tried some of the dealers but they all told me they get their reps as is.. does any one have a cheap source? Thanks Sor
