  1. So I've wanted to post this for a long time now and I think now is the perfect time. This Daytona crazy is insane. With Paul Newmans Daytona selling for 17 million dollars more and more people are wanting a piece of history on their wrist. A few years ago that was me. I contacted the right people and since then I have had 2 spectacular vintage builds. Having said that the real reason for this topic is to get everyones opinion on who is the best. Rolojack or TheSociety. I have worked with Jack in the past and everything has been pretty amazing. Also, I have read up alot on TheSociety and from the looks of posts he also build really well. I want to get other members opinions on who goes down on the top 5 list. I know RoloJack really doesn't build anymore so its a sad situation. I also did not write this so we can flood all these Daytona builders. The main reason is to compare and get real life stories on peoples experiences dealing with these two. They both have different styles, Different sources, and different end products. I know RoloJack is so much more methodical and has attention to detail. I know Society has an insane collection and gets more into tropical dials, etc. With that being said I hope to hear back from you guys and look forward to reading some cool stories. If I left anyone out please members chime in. Thanks.
  2. I wanted to share pictures of my Daytona build that I received not to long ago. This project started sometime last year. I knoew what I wanted but was not really familiar with the technical aspects of the build. Parts, movements, etc. After doing alot of research I reached out to Rolojack and asked if he would be willing to make me something pretty special. I decided on the Daytona 6263 PN Panda Dial. Something about this dial that i really liked. I put my trust in his hands and he worked his magic. He would ask me what I wanted every step of the way and was a huge help. Rolojack thanks for doing what you do. Also for taking the time, effort, skill, and patience. Let me know what you all think.
  3. Hi everyone, I am new to RWG and though I could write something about this special watch that was produced in a very limited number with the approval from Rolex. Since it is related to Rolex I thought I post it in the Rolex area. Hope this is ok. I recently obtained this Telda Paul Newman Daytona Chronograph Replica and wanted to share some pictures and information with the forum. Based on some research I found the following interesting information: Telda is a brand of the Swiss manufacturer "Les Fils d'Armand Nicolet, Manufacture des Montres Telda S.à.r.L" By courtesy of Rolex, Telda has produced a limited edition of 300 pieces of the Paul Newman Chronograph in the 90's (prior to the hype of the PN Daytona). So there are less of these than the original, which makes them interesting to collect The watch has the same dimensions as the original with an automatic movement ETA 2824 with Chronomodule by Dubois Dépraz The dial is very similar to the original with the difference of the two hour and minutes counters being switched There are different versions of this watch with a white dial and with the steel tachymeter bezel instead of the black bakelite Given the rising popularity of the original Paul Newman Daytona's Rolex requested Telda to replace the red "Chronographe" wording above the seconds counter with "Replica", as seen on my example I am keen to hear if other members have any additional information to this watch, as there is very limited information available. Enjoy!
  4. I enjoy working on perfecting these DWs. I really think that version of the PN is the best dial he did. Here, I reshaped the case totally. Lugs top, sides of the case and bezel. I sanded the acrylic insert so it's absolutely leveled with the metal of the bezel. Dial was textured and aged. It now has that rough texture you can see on Mazzariol macro pictures. Of course: gen coronet installed, gen crown and gen T21.
  5. I recently started getting into vintage Rolex watches. Specifically the Paul Newman watch. Every time I travel to a different city I go to vintage watch stores to check out what they have. Most of you know that the vintage rolex watches are crazy expensive. Having said that how difficult is it to build a new perfect vintage Paul Newman Rolex? I know there are a few different color options and of out of those which is the coveted among the Paul Newmans? I have a few genuine rolex watches and just now have done more and more research on forums like this. I dont think I will ever buy a genuine watch again given that several websites have great replicas. I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars than $8,000+. Let me know what you guys think and if any of you members has any vintage Paul Newmans youre looking to get rid of I would be interested. Thanks.
  6. So... What's the consensus? A bit fantasy model? I for one, love the non-cyclops plexi. http://www.puretime.watch/shop/product/vintage-submariner-1680-ss-black-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a2824/
