I don't remember the grains. But at first I used some rough sandpaper to remove the metal faster, then of course changed to smoother one when the cg's started to look more like they should. Then I used abrasive metal polishing paste (got it from a watch shop) to give it the mirror finish. I think Cape Cod could work with this too... I don't know, never tried. Good luck.
