The hands also don't look like some that I've seen in gen pics in the area of the lume as well as the overall shape, but that may have been updates through the years... MAHLER Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 (edited) For me, the watch that you have shown has these defects : 1 - the Roman numbers are wrong, the font of the genuine is different; 2 - the writing swiss made in the genuine is under the number 6 and it's only swiss; 3 - the rehaut of the new model is engraved; 4 - the hands are more large of the genuine; 5 - absent the bright points to times 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; 6 - the fanlight is smooth the original one is shaped; 7 - the closing with the crown is not identical; 8 - the font of the datestamp is different; 9 - the length of the handles is different thinner on the genuine. rolexlover Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 This watch has several flaws: 1) The bezel should be fluted to go with new presidential band. Typically, the smooth bezel goes with oyster style band. 2) The day window is small and not bevel as original. (Typical flaw of Roman day-date dial). 3) The minute hand tip is short. Olympus Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 I got my Day-Date from Precious Time,and it has an engraved rehaut (with the crown at 12) beveled day and date windows & very good mag The minute and hour hands are the correct length The only thing is the seconds hand isn't tapered to a point as the gen it even has a couple of micro etched marks on the back of the case near the lugs that needs a loupe to see correctly, when I showed it to a friend he thought I had recieved a gen by mistake! I want a white faced date-just or day-date, with prez band and fluted bezel with stick markers. Where can I find the most accurate one? I checked PT's website and didn't see the one above, EL doesn't have any white with bar markers? Am I just not looking hard enough? CY0811 Posted June 14, 2006 Report Share Posted June 14, 2006 Basically I have had quite a few Day-Date reps over the last 5 years ranging from Canal street specials, Abay/Aspire CN decent versions and finally the TW w/ President....I sent him an email comparing them....basically the overall message is that I think that EL's DD w/ President bracelet is the best I've seen ans the most accurate feeling and looking...my uncle has a genuine in YG and EL's is pretty damn close.
