cenerhimself Posted November 19, 2008 Report Share Posted November 19, 2008 I'm a complete noob in the area of watches, but I've been reading a lot about Omegas. I really want my first rep to be a 007 Style Seamaster or the Seamaster worn in Casino Royale. I've read about automatics and somewhat know how they function, but I don't think they will work for me. I don't want to have to worry about resetting the watch if I only wear it for 8-9 hours a day. So, are there any Quartz (battery?) Omega reps? Am I right to think that Automatics will need to be reset if worn for that amount of time, weekdays only and maybe a few hours on the weekend? I'm a college kid, so I don't dress up to go to class, but I'll be graduating soon and getting a real job. Even though a decent replica of the quartz-Seamaster likely would sell well and be rather trouble free, I think the manufactures concentrate on the more expensive models. To be honest, it only takes a few moments to re-start and re-set an automatic watch which has 'run dry', but, that's still a few moments more than it takes to strap on a quartz watch which is going to be telling the right time regardless... The Seamaster is an incredibly versatile watch, so you might find yourself wearing it more than you anticipate anyway. No problem, I'm more than happy to help To be honest, Chinatown is more likely to have what you're looking for, as they're more likely to cater to 'every-day' buyers, who are happy with quartz watches. I have to admit, the quartz Seamaster is going to be more durable, and keep better time than the automatic Seamaster, so it'll definitely be combining the best of both worlds, with the looks of an automatic, with the robustness of quartz. Even if you don't find the Seamaster there, you're still likely to see some nice watches which take your eye I picked up a Panerai in Spain which is a total fantasy model.
