  1. Nothing beats on the job experience! And I promise you my watch bench is twice as cluttered as yours. Keep up the good work.

  2. Ok folks, good news! Well respected RWI member and modder@slaughterer (Slaughterer62 on RWI) would be setting up shop on RWG very soon! For those of you unfamiliar with him, slaughterer is a member who is a lot more active on RWI. He is well-reputed for his creative and unique set of watch modding skills, as well as having the ability to repair, service and utterly slaughter watches. Hence his chosen moniker. I believe that he is now based in Germany, having been expatriated from the USA after committing horological espionage involving the Russians and some random Burmese militia dudes. Well forget the background, what this means for our community is that we have a new watch modder and repair master based in EU. I have personally dealt with him on a few occasions and find his modification ideas to be unconventional and refreshing, bordering insanity and sometimes outright audacious. But the results have always been satisfactory and pleasing to the eye. The secret is never to ask him how it's done. After knowing one time, I decided then that I never want to ask again. The guy is talented and creative, and clever as a fox. I will let the guru speak for himself and introduce himself and his services properly. This is just an introductory post for those who want choices, and someone to work on your watches. He will take care of your watches well and do a good job (most of the time [emoji6]) Message crafted while smacking a sleeping friend with a bluefin tuna and fending off a hungry raccoon.

  4. Welcome to the beautiful and frustrating world of horology! Many things you wrote resonated with me, especially the wife bits :). I am in a similar position to yours with the only possible exception that I am at the next step, where I invested into the next level of tools, because I realized how quickly I am destroying the cheap ones (like screwdrivers and pincers). I also invested into a timegrapher and wr tester. But I started much like you. And now two years or so later, I cannot even tell you how many times I had to rebuild the keyless works, re-set the hands, etc etc. Thank you for posting! David

  8. The diameter issue is the whole issue. ? Cutting or not cutting the Rolex feet doesn't matter, not real Singer dials anyway. Also, it will be negative relief. The one above isn't. The last part is unusual. Hopefully they will get it right. Last but not least. They will be unlumed because I've had several dials arriving from Vietnam with lume plots that have fallen off completely or broke in pieces, also their lume looks great, but since the Tempus Machina dials are my biggest interest I want the base work to be correct so real pigment can be applied so the lume quality not only looks is good. This isn't as important for the 6538. I almost forgot, the brassy color in the picture above is too yellow. Compare e.g. the Tudor 7928 and the 5512 below. The 5512 is too yellow. Looks synthetic.

  11. Just to add to this, I done this on my 1675 build when I installed a 5.3mm crown. Make sure you thoroughly degrease the tube and case threads. I used lighter fluid & pegwood

  13. That is one incredible dial you've made there sir, very impressive! When looking at that case profile it's also very hard to understand that it once came from HR - so hat off to rolojack too.

  14. I sincerely appreciates a compliment from you. If we think the same modder, I don't like some of his work. Sometime he make a botch work. The dial before assembly [emoji632]
