  1. It's funny but the only time anyone ever noticed what watch I was wearing was in a dingy amusement arcade at the seaside here in the UK. I was waiting for my daughter to finish feeding coppers into a machine and I had my hand up on the machine just resting it there. A total stranger walked over with a complete at utter look of disbelief on he's face, mouth open muttering... "That's a Paul Newman, that's a Paul Newman"! I looked at him, put my finger to my lips and whispered "Shhhhhh" and winked at him. He smiled at me, slowly nodded his head and off he went. Absolute truth.

  5. Probably easiest to send him a private message. If not there are a whole bunch of 1016 modders on this forum (they've recently become very popular, I have one on my wrist as I'm writing this)

  10. The picture you showed is a Rep. 7750 Movement with modded plates to make it look like a P9000. As StormTooper has mentioned, the gen movement is different, built differently and the tell is the placement of the wheel. The biggest tell is the pinkish jewel, where the gen has a darker pink. Just notice also the detail around the gen movement where that jewel is located and you can see a vast difference between the gen and the rep. Best of luck, hope that helps.

  18. My decisions are based on the quality of reps available for a particular gen. There are some watches which have Never been accurately replicated, such as the Speedy Pro, Breitling Aerospace, etc - those are the watches which I pick up in gen form. Regarding most everything else, rep is the way to go for the reasons you've already laid out.

  19. This forum is not only for experienced members. The only thing the "elder statesmen" ask is that newbies read and learn as much as possible, before jumping in and asking for help. A lot of questions can be answered by researching on your own. That being said, I think your question is completely appropriate. You're asking for a comparison of two specific offerings and there's no way for you to find the answer on your own. Hopefully, someone with experience will offer up some information. I would, IF I knew the answer! I can tell you the TT is a trusted dealer here. I have bought some 10-12 watches from Andrew and have yet to be disappointed...... As a newbie to this hobby, I think you'll be totally impressed with whatever selection you make from TT. Many members in here take the next step and begin to modify or even built their own "franken" watches, with some absolutely amazing results! I just don't have the skill or the patience to even attempt it. ;-) So, don't be put off by the first response. Read up, learn, ask questions......... Many will help whenever possible.
