  2. What are your guys thoughts on this watch? I like the looks of the dial and have read some pretty good reviews on the web but I'm a little worried about the movement modification done to allow it to have the date at 6

  3. If you have ever done research on red subs or on Rolex period you have probably come across the Rolex Passion Report and probably this article: http://rolexpassionreport.com/174/evolution-of-the-red-rolex-submariner-ref-1680/ It took me a second to realize that the example he showed of an early sub was missing the chapter ring. But once I saw it I couldn't look away. Now I am obsessing over this watch. It just looks so damn clean it's amazing, and the richness of the matte texture is simply stunning. I find myself repeatedly going back to that page and drooling over... well, let's be honest, all three subs he shows are fantastic examples but that early prototype dial is something else. If I can find a reasonably priced rep or "refinished" dial with the older style spaced out text, I am going to try and finely cover the chapter ring markers with a fine tip felt artists pen like a radiograph. Just look at this baby

  4. That is nice! I was planning to build something vintage and ended up on the idea of the 1665 SRSD prototype. I have been trying to get 'good' and gen parts to build this and I found a great Whoopy reprinted dial on gen plate. Not cheap but really good and it's on gen plate!! No lume or anything has been done to it since I am having second thought at this point..... Sent from my[emoji336]using Tapatalk [emoji355]

  9. ... Well it looks complete. This is my 16600 Sea Dweller rep. I got the case, dial and hand set from Yuki. I'm disappointed with the print quality on the dial, but figure I can upgrade later. The movement is a Seagull 2836 clone that I bought from eBay. The bracelet came from TC. The reason it only "looks" complete is because the movement is "f'd up" a bit. First, it seems to stop periodically. Second, the minute hand isn't advancing and finally I can't set it and the stem won't lock in because the part below fell out. (Including photos of watch as well. I know I can upgrade the movement too, but this one is brand new and I'd like to get at least a year's use out of it. Also the seller is in China and I figure it'll be a PIA to send back so I'm hoping I can fix this . Anyone know the name of this part and whether I have a simple fix or a major headache on my hands?
