  2. Hi Guys, Want to share with you some pics of my Monday's night bidding on eBay. I've looked for some movement part to exchange in Yuki 3135 for my modern sub build. I set the alarm on 5.45 am and got that all for £12.80 shipped! Some packages are for 3035 and torn but all parts inside. Enjoy! Cheers, BP Sent from Hell

  7. I have to call REP on this case. Here is a 6536/1 case, proven to be from 1958. I'm no genius but I'd guess Rolex would use VERY similar cases for the 6536/1 and the 6542. There might be subtle differences but the overall dimensions should be very similar. Compare your photos to mine. Specifically look at the distance on the back from the crown to the "lip" where it bumps up to meet the caseback Mine is very narrow and yours is very wide. Also look at the side opposite the crown: from the edge of the case to the "lip" should be VERY narrow. Unless the caseback on the 6542 is much smaller than the 6536/1, the case is much bigger than mine. I doubt that, because the 1030 and 1065 movements are the same ligne and so will come out through the same size hole.

  9. Replica watches have really come a long compared to 10 to 20 years ago. Having said that, i guess we also push our expectations of reps higher and higher over years. I certainly don't think Legend meant it to be hateful, he is probably "passionate" about it.

  10. I've had a couple of MBWs [the old guys here are laughing] and I had gen crowns and tubes put on many of them. I don't know about the tubes that came on them ... I was always told to replace crown and tube. The difference was always very dramatic. I see that the cartel is offering vintages that they say are vastly improved. In my wildest dreams, someone produces vintages as good or better than the MBWs. Has anyone had any experience with these new ones offered by Josh and Co.? It looks like they are not available with gen Swiss movements, but I have plenty of those if they are a direct replacement for the Asian clones. Hope all is well with everyone. Bill

  13. Had the same concern. Emailed Yuki and he sent link for this alternate site. He said that there must be a problem with the site and is having someone look into it. I went ahead and ordered an Explorer dial. Checkout process was the same and got the same follow up emails with tracking info.

  14. First of all I'm sorry that you found the comments hateful. As the guys (who know me better) have testified, they are not meant to be disdainful or disparaging, and my comments are directed solely against the watch you've shown. Yes you're right that the reps have come a long way, but it's an irony that you chose to complement that statement with pictures of a low-end, egregiously bad replica. Showing a rep like this in a forum enriched with in-depth information about reps, and then getting compliments would only mean that we are a sarcastic or ignorant bunch and I'm sure that's not a place you would want to be at. A word of caution though, even the so-called "ultimate" reps are full of flaws which you may or may not be able to accept. The reason why I asked for a picture of your genuine watch, is simply so that I can bring to your attention, the horrible flaws of the watch you posted vs the one you have in hand. Take the time to study the two, and you will see what I mean. Even if you place the "ultimate" version side by side with the genuine one, the flaws would be many and some really obvious, like date wheel position and thickness of the case. I am definitely not hateful toward you but if you're expecting compliments for a rep like that, I cannot sincerely give you one, sorry. I can however compliment your genuine watch, it is beautiful and praiseworthy of course. Stay on and learn about AP reps, there are many many details to learn about and discuss and improve on. Discussions like this are mostly directed toward the watch not the person. I hope that you are not going to treat that low-end rep as an extension of your ego. Trust me, once you learn about its position among the replicas, you would not be inclined to wear it anymore. I am not going to be rude or nasty to you. I think you just lack knowledge and given time you would learn like we all did. I wish you a very pleasant and fruitful time here. P.S. Thanks guys for clarifying what I've written. I truly appreciate it. I think the OP just needs to learn that even among replicas, good and bad ones exist and we should help him choose the right ones. That's what the forums are for. Message crafted while riding a leathery juvenile T-Rex and charging toward the horizon.

  15. Whoa.... you sir clearly have not been around the ap section for long. You can see by my post count that I rarely speakout. But please understand that@legend is THE authority when it comes to APs. Especially here at RWG. Nothing he mentioned was hateful in anyway. He was trying to contribute with his vast knowledge of ap and ap reps. The quarts version shumi you show here is a terrible attempt at replication. As legend said, even the most expensive replicas of shumi around $800 vs $150 quartz still have huge flaws, namely the horrible grey tone of the dial as legend mentioned. I personally do not understand how you can think that a tick tocking shumi is acceptable especially when you know the build quality of the gen.[emoji21]

  16. Don't take it as an insult. .I've got nearly a dozen watches and almost everyone has been modded in some way profs crystal, gen parts, swiss movements, ect. Small details that make them look even better and more gen like but I know where your coming from because I'm still amazed when I see a less expensive and correct rep from someone like Stan at what high quality they are. Enjoy them all and hopefully you'll learn a bit on here.

  17. When I run into a case tube that is solidly stuck like this I remove the movement, bezel, and crystal then heat the case tube with a pin point butane mini torch and remove it. This has always worked for me. It seems glued in case tubes are harder to remove than cross threaded case tubes. The case tube in the MBK 5512 I just got was glued but it came out using a six sided broach. The cement left a powdered residue as I removed the case tube indicating epoxy or superglue. Chances are the case is not ruined, you could maybe run down one of the Athaya tube/crown combos with the oversize case tube, drill the case to size, and install it.
