  1. The 6536 is ridiculously thin, and the 6538 is much thicker. The Big Crown almost makes a 6536 look like a dress watch in comparison. Quick snap to show the difference

  2. You're both absolutely right. eBay suuuuucks so bad. They should hire actual marketplace-connoisseurs to vet listings, but it will only catch the most flagrant offenders, like this clown. His emails are viciously hilarious. He's absolutely determined to win. I had a genuine expert in the marketplace (based off detailed pics) offer me $17,000 for a gilt 5513 Franken. So I can only imagine what junk is passing through hands on eBay. Pretty wild.

  3. Hi gents, Want to share with you my 1016 build. It took a long way as I collected and chased parts for more than a year and a half. Great thanks to Rolojack for amazing advices and case reshaping! A bit of history.. I fell in love with early 1016's. Chapter ring..gilt dial..underline.. That's a dream unfortunately unachievable for now.. I made my first one 1016 2 years ago out of 16000 case, gen 1570 movement, Yukki dial and hands, Clark crystal, JMB bezel. That was okay for the first try, but nothing was right there.. This time I tried to make as close as possible full Gen Explorer. Specs: Gen 16014 case amazingly reshaped by Rolojack. Gen 16000 caseback Gen 1575 movement. Gen 1016 "Stern" Dial Gen Sub hands(they where sold to me as Explorer hands on VRM, minute hand shorter than should be..) Gen T22 Domed crystal. Gen Bezel(outer diameter is half mm smaller than should be..have no idea why, inner diameter is perfect to fit T22) Gen 78350 bracelet with 558B endlinks. Gen 600 crown Proper springbars to be added! Here are some pics: Please tell me what do you think guys! Thank you, BP Sent from Hell

  5. I have a few like this and they have 16570T at the 12 o'clock end and F432118 at the 6 o'clock end. The 78628 bracelet has a clasp with 'registered' above 'swiss made' at the left side and DE6 above 'steelinox' over '93250' on the right side of the clasp blade along with the fancy script in the center. The movements in mine are DG 3804B. They have hollow bracelet mid links and the cases, bracelets, and dials are finely finished. These watches were a real surprise for the price I paid. They go for $125 to $250 new if you can find one. Same watch with 2836 etaclone is about $100 more. Swiss Eta 2836 models with Asian GMT modification on new (not refurb junk) movements are now up around $500 but are few and far between.

  7. It's hilarious. He's a stubborn f$ck. he's been arguing with me for 2 days that it's gen. I simply asked him to show me another 116622 anywhere on the planet with a silver seconds hand. He has no response for that one other than swearing and changing the subject

  9. I tried reluming my 1016 rep myself. Big mistake. I sent it off to Kent Park at Everest Watch works and Kent did a great job! First photo is the mess I made and the next two are of Kent's "repair"

  10. I have been a member of several gen forums for a long time. Mostly forums that are either non brand specific or more obscure brands. I know that there are others from here who visit those forums as well as here. I tend to agree with automatico, however my caveat is the real snobs, idiots and disillusioned belong to the higher end watch forums. These are the ones who tend to look down their noses at everyone who doesn't have a genuine Rolex, Panerai, AP etc., etc.. It is incredible the lack of real knowledge the members of these forums possess. Their knowledge of even their own model, the brand history, notable achievements are a "dark forest" to them. And to make it even worse, they aren't interested. All they want is a venue to show off their watches and brag about what a success they are. Having said that, it does not one scintilla of good to go on those forums and provoke them. Nothing is gained and all it does is draw unwanted attention to the rep forums. Another point, I don't think it a good idea to operate with the same user name across a lot of forums, especially if these forums are at cross purposes to each other. Certainly there are a fair number of genuine forum members lurking on the rep forums. Some are here to spy, others are just curious about reps, some are interested in seeing how really good the reps are. I have no problem with any of them visiting as long as they are not here to pick a fight. I'm sure that reading posts, they pick up on forum names, especially ones that are pretty odd and not seen often. When they see the same name pop up on the genuine forum, it rings a bell. My advice like lots of others before me is simply do not mention anything related to, pertaining to or linking you to reps on any genuine forum. Nothing good comes from it. I have a great example of something that happened several years ago on the Doxa forum on WUS. Dr. Peter Millar is the definitive expert on vintage Doxa watches. He wrote a wonderful book on the History of the Doxa Dive watches from the 1960's (Sub 300) to the present (About 8-10 years ago). Probably no one individual was held in greater esteem by the members of the forum. In a post he mentioned that he had purchased a replica Rolex Submariner and commented on the quality and closeness to the genuine. From the comments, you would have thought that he had confessed to molesting every girl in his home town Girl Scout troop!! Fortunately, most of the negative posters were folks who were occasional posters and infrequent visitors. Most of the regulars stood by his right to post what he felt was correct. Their support was at best lukewarm though. No one really wanted to go out on a limb and join his club!! He was very unrepentant, and challenged most who posted negatively to justify their position, which because of their ignorance they couldn't do. He survived unscathed to fight another day, but had this been just any regular member, they would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail!! So when you are in the den of the bear, don't poke the bear!!

  12. The rehault on the dw case is smaller so you will need to fill it out with something.
