  1. For your eyes is an other 6538 build based on the infamous HR rep. Here I did my modification that consists in thinning the mid case from the top to have the crown appear higher. See how this mod enhances the lenght of the lugs !!! It changes the looks a lot. The watch appears very sleek. The lug holes were redrilled to gen size and proper springbars with polished tip were fitted. Thanks to the watch owner, I also modified the profile of the bezel. I sandblasted it to remove the plating partially between the teeth, and I engine turned the bezel to shape the teeth in a more genuine like profile. The insert was shaved from the bottom to sit lower, and the inner diameter was enlarged for it to appear thinner. As for the glass... did you know sizes vary from one HR case to an other? Well, now I know... And this one has a larger rehaut. Too large to hold a T21. So I did something different this time since I am against using glue or any dirty back room tricks when possible: I used a T39 I shaved from the bottom to remove the retaining lip. I shaped the sides just like the original HR stock crystal to re-use the nylon gasket. Repolished and super tight pressure fit. This might be the first water resistant acrylic crystal fitted WITHOUT GLUE on a HR. The dial was mildly aged with different inks. Result is very subtle, nothing loud. Enjoy the pics !!!

  2. Members, A quick note of public thanks to Andrew at TrustyTime, one of the TD's here. (Trustytime01.com) I recently purchased an new AP 15450 from and M2M sale here on RWG. I went for a run with the piece, took a shower and then noticed that one of the case back screws fell out during the run. OH HELL! I emailed Andrew to see if he could source a few extra case back screws for me to repair the missing one. For a small fee of $15, he helped me get 4 case back screws from the TF factory for my AP 15450. I extend a special thanks to him for helping out with a tiny repair project. Super helpful and very fast...the shipment took under 2 weeks from the initial email. And if you need an extra AP 15450 case back screw...ping me! Glad to help you out.

  3. "Fake watches are for fake people..." I like Frankensteins so what does that make me? Half-Fake? Franken-Fake? F'ing-Fake?

  4. Well...these articles are mostly written by very unconcious blokes who are afraid of "loosing" their status due to the fact that their watches are undistingishuable from the "fakes" nowadays. Yes I too wear replicas that are recognizable even by the unknown...I can't afford all these as gen and I don't care what others think...most people don't think at all anyway ;p Sent from my wooden drums via Tupperware

  6. Are people that drive replica vintage Porsche Speedsters and Shelby Cobras fake too? What about the reproduction paintings of Monet's hanging in millions of homes? Are those people fake? What about the replica bronze horses outside Saint Marks Basilica in Venice? Is the Catholic Church fake? Hmmm. Maybe the author has a point

  8. I do not buy fake watches to be someone I am not. I buy fake watches simply because I like a certain model/style and I can't "afford" the real deal. Ofcourse I can buy a real watch that is cheaper, but what will I get? An overpriced Sevenfriday, which is basically a cheap Miyota? Or should I get a Guess watch that looks like a Hublot that had sex with an AP?

  10. Interesting that this pops up now because I have done some soul searching as to why I buy reps recently. I can see how somebody comes tot he conclusion that fake watches are bought to gain social prestige without being an unconscious bloke. I assume that the majority of reps are bought for exactly that reason. Just look at the fake watch buster posts with kids flashing their canal street reps and brag about the money they allegedly coughed up to buy them. At the same time I have learned that there are other motivations to buy reps, and I have learned that this is true for most of the members of this forum. I definitely do not buy reps to gain social prestige or flash them in public as gens. I also buy a lot of micro brands that would only be recognized by some real watch enthusiasts. Plus I own many gens, not in the 5-10000 USD area but the likes of Anonimo or vintage Omega. The net worth of my watch collection could easily buy me a nice Patek. So if I was out for prestige I would buy a Nautilus and end of story. But what I really enjoy about this hobby is diversity and the process of building a collection. Like to have a watch for every shirt color and every occasion. Having said this there are a lot of smaller and affordable brands out there that are even technically innovative and have better and more reliable movements. I am talking Anonimo, MKII and others. Just yesterday I stumbled over a UK brand that uses Tritium tubes instead of lume. So diversity is no valid reason to buy into reps as well. So why don’t we all buy micro brands or sterile homage watches instead? Obviously the famous watch brands have a lot of appeal. I often read the argument that the genuine brands are overpriced. But the price for something is made by the market and all luxury items are decoupled from the material and manufacturing cost. Why should the brands sell at a price below the market? The brand itself has a value and it was build by real people that earn their living from doing so and pay real taxes. It took decades of work, a lot if ingenuity and billions of dollars to get there. If you feel the brands are overpriced why buy them? It is not like food or medical supplies. Nobody needs a Rolex or a Patek. Another motivator: The hobby takes over and the obsession to correct the small flaws that still distinguish the reps from their gen counterpart. The hobby itself can be very fulfilling. So there are lots of reasons other then being fake or gain social prestige. Ultimately I came to the conclusion that I indulge myself into the thought of owning something I crave for and could not or would not afford otherwise. At the end of the day there IS some hypocrisy involved in this hobby. Face it! Probably not the kind of post guys want to read in a rep forum, but at least my "genuine" thoughts.

  11. Ben Franklin said, " the worth of a man is not determined by what he has, but rather by who he is". So based on Ben's statement, real or fake, doesn't matter. The question is Who are You. lol

  12. It´s more like statistics. You can present a number and interprete whatever You want into it, it may not be fact but it isn´t easily deniable. Rolex is the best known and most desired brand in the UK - Coca Cola comes second. The submariner-design is universally the most functional for a watch - every brand has a copy of it. There´s no point in buying a fake Seiko 5 or Casio quartz so ppl just by the gen. The whole FWFFP - concept is just an annoying (albeit effective) marketing gag for the Swiss to try to sell their nowadays way overpriced gadgets (20% value - and these 20% include the precious craftmanship - 80% overhead cost).

  15. Look at the top photo, please. The 3 marker with lume is present. The missing marker was a problem in the first batch and subsequently corrected....even through they do not call it a v2.

  16. You're right the 15400 is way to big for what it is. Only problem with the JF15450 is that the 3 o'clock marker is MISSING! Although I believe JF have very recently correctly this flaw but haven't seen the correct dial on TD websites yet.

  17. First of all let me tell you this- the original 702 Rolex tube didn't have any internal splines. So one way to install an OEM tube is to prep the case hole- run the tap thru there- then screw the tube in by hand and tighten it in there with the 702 crown. If you're using a glue like loc-tite and you get the tube screwed in tightly you're good to go. If you're not happy with that, you can stick the rat tail file in there and try additional tightening. As for Adrian's tube- if he says a torx bit, I'd try one of those. You can buy them fairly cheaply and I'd figure T-15, T-20 or T-25 would be the size. And remember to use loc-tite or something to give you a waterproof seal. You may need to chamfer the top of the case hole to seat the tube correctly, but it's been over a year since I installed a 702 copy tube in my 5513 and I can't remember but I'm pretty sure I chamfered the top of the hole- I know I do that on the 703 tubes.
