  3. I think 4 re-opens is probably average for me when working on a watch. I need to get better at checking everything before I button it up. The problem is I notice something that at the time I consider to be "good enough" but once noticed it's all I notice so usually within 24 hrs it's open again to fix the thing previously determined to be "good enough"

  5. Well that was a blast from the past. I wear this watch more than any other. I have a small hoard of parts waiting to go into it once I finally retire. Anyway on to dimensions. I found this on Bob Maron's site https://rwg.cc/forum/230-watches-clothing-parts-accessories/ Intestingly it is where the picture of the gen above came from, but anyway going on the dimensions he gives, mine is pretty accurate. 38mm but I guess it figures that after all these years and service polishes most will now be a little less. His gen is 0.5mm undersize, my rep is 0.4mm according to my calibrated digital calipers. Height I think will depend on exactly what crystal is fitted, but he states 12.8mm mine is 13.7mm but I know the crystal isn't too hot and is due to be replaced. Overall I think Phong cases are very, very good and I've heard stories, including one posted here of the unscrupulous passing them off as genuine.

  6. I would buy the Noob v7 2836. Most bang for the buck, and most likely all you will ever need. When the Frankenstein plans and the replica scene and its possibilities gets to you, you will rethink the possibilities and buy 2 or 3 watches and combining parts will be a reality, but since you ask, most likely you aren't there yet, and your wallet thanks you.

  7. No I don't think so. There are several warning signs. They are not the manufacturer Noob, I can be sure of that, yet their pictures are intended to make one think they are. The prices are rather higher than you would pay from a know Trusted Dealer. Pretty much every week we hear people new to the hobby say they ordered from a site they found on the web and got scammed. It is far safer to buy from a TD on the forums Welcome to the community by the way?

  15. It will naturally depend on your budget. Generally the watches off the shelf from the trusted dealers all need modding. Modding can be a fun and frustrating experience, if you don't want to tackle the task yourself there are some very talented modders on the forum to help you. Alternatively keep an eye on the members sales section or start a "want to buy" thread. Decent watches do crop up. Profiteering is frowned upon so you could pick up a decent watch at a lot less than it would cost to buy new and mod.

  16. Welcome to the forum. Lots of us have used Trusty, he is a trusted dealer here. I would highly recommend you do some reading on the Rolex subsection about the watches you are interested in. The 5513, well there are some pretty good replicas, in fact I'm wearing a Cartel version right now. 1675, there really isn't a great option unless you spend serious money I'm afraid. As for a Daytona the vintage 6263 and current 116500 are available as pretty good reps. I would go for the 116500 with the frozen hand on the sub dial at six because the thickness is as genuine. These things are always a matter of personal opinion though.
