  1. I've been on this forum for some time now, been off for a bit and just recently came back to check. I see lots of new members joining and see similar questions that I have seen years ago. So I thought I just want to pass on some of my insights as a small time collector to the bros here. 1. Almost all reps will have issues - get used to it. Problems could range from movement stopping, bracelet breaking, hand stack not aligned, and other cosmetics issues. The only rep that didn't give me any issues was a Rolex all gold which was one I seldom wear. My advice would be to find a good watchmaker who is happy to work with reps. 2. Resolving issues - sending problematic watches back to the dealer is bit of pot luck, you could sometimes get lucky and the watch is repaired properly. In my experience, the hit rate is about 50%, so some watches that were sent back came back with the issue not fixed. I think best bet is not to send them back, try to get local repairer or if you could find one in this site. 3. Even so called trusted dealers here can be dodgy at time - my experience is that even when you buy Swiss movement, you could actually end up with an Asian / Chinese movement. I have had gotten a watch which I thought I paid more for Swiss but when it was repaired, the watchmaker told me it's just Asian movement. So my advice is don't pay more for fancy movements which is marketing hype, just buy the ones with the Asian movement which is usually $50 cheaper or thereabouts. Then get it serviced and it should last a long time. 4. Which is best rep i.e best Sub etc? - the cheeky answer is the Gen one. Unless you are prepared to spend $$ to mod and replace parts, any rep is still just that , a clone. It will not match the gen. Having said that these days there are some very good clones. Think you can find some threads on some good ones. My advice is really to find a rep (style / design) that you like and just get it. If it makes you happy then that's all that matters. 5. Learn, and continue learning - this forum is full of experts who can tell you all the intricacies of the various models. This hobby can be addictive, and only way you can become knowledgeable is to keep reading and researching not just in this forum, but other forums too and even on forums about the gen watches. I like to think the members here who has contributed so much knowledge to the community. Well done guys! Have fun!

  2. The irony is that you accuse others of not being able to read properly.. and you STILL can't read. I'm not a moderator. Q.E.D. You are not a member of MENSA. --- Wait.. OH NOES!! Internet threat detected.. Blipp blipp blipp. Red alert. I repeat, red alert! ---- Oh... excuse me dear sir. I have now come to the conclusion that I must go very carefully, because a threatening man on the internets told me so. Oh god.. NOT THE CHILDREN!!!! LEAVE MY CHILDREN OUT OF THIS!!! The hoorrs!! NOT THE NAIL PLIERS!!! ARGHHH.... As I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I fear no evil, see no evil, hear no evil. Only analphabets.

  4. Seriously mate. I've loved all the impeccable works of all the maesters here but, given you're a noob like me, you're thousands of miles ahead of me. Flawless. Keep up the good work and inspire us. Sent from my Lenovo K53a48 using Tapatalk

  6. My new crystals arrived. Ordered 3 Received 6. Tip top crystals always over delivers. Ordered back up domed crystal the GS ET. and was most excited to try out the GS PT PRISM TITE as they have the beveled edge that I was after. However as you see on the package. They do have a grid pattern and the inside is the crystal has a prism effect on the slight domed top. This I was not expecting The profile with the beveled edge looks good and is similar to a factory service crystal however the grid pattern does add a distortion to the face of the dial. Only really noticeable in certain light. Hard to capture in a pic I don’t hate it and it would be another unique quark is the Milgauss had they offered a unique crystal like this but it is definitely not gen in appearance. It gives the watch a unique look ans I will try it out for a bit. Now If I can find this same crystal without the prisma effect I think it would be perfect. 12. Did you get dropped as a child or are you just illiterate? I suggest YOU treat a RWG Crew member/ MODERATOR with respect. Try replica-watch.info or repgeek.com. They love snarky-ass-comments like yours over there. However.. they usually make your account suddenly not work when dealing with fine and intelligent beings like yourself over there. P.S. 17. So you asked how to install a 3135 in a case that doesn't fit a 3135? Based on needing help identifying a movement you know is identical with a 3135 in size, diameter, stem height, total height etc, however you don't know what it is. Also.. you add some serious attitude. Try formulating a question worth answering next time, and skip the insults when dealing with members that have been around the block way longer than you.

  18. Extensive research and advice? Not even remotely a very high-end rep... at all. You have a lot more extensive research to do my friend, and a lot more advice to take in. Or perhaps recalibrate your expectation of a high-end rep. I consider a high-end Sub rep to be minimum $600 - $1,000 and they do not have $15 movements inside them. All out quality 'franken' Sub rep's are $2500 to $3,200 for my money. Here is someone selling the base to your watch (case, dial, movement) for $85 https://www.ebay.com/itm/DG2813-Automatic-movement-Submariner-case-colored-wheels-Dial-Hands-316L/263900125499?hash=item3d71ac593b:g:Zk0AAOSwjXVawh19 I don't mean to sound harsh, just hoping to give you some perspective so you don't get ripped off [again.] Welcome to the community Enjoy!

  19. Yes as I was saying in the other thread you started, a gen or clone 3135 will likely not be an easy transplant. Your case does not have the milling on the internals that would support the holding of a 3135 movement and as mentioned above the dial and hands you have would not fit either. Even some of the truly high end reps cannot have a 3135 placed into them. We are not trying to be mean but the watch in the photos above is not a high end rep, from dial to SEL's to the movement inside all indicate a run of the mill one and it will almost certainly NOT fit a 3135. Just the diameter and height differences alone already show the issue you would face. The 3135 is wider and taller than the DG movement. If you are set on wanting a watch with a 3135 I would recommend you purchasing one of the new JF factory sub reps with the cone 3135 already inside and then if you want to swap for Gen its will truly be a simple swap and you would get to keep the dial and hands. To answer what exactly the movement you have it appears to be a Chinese DG2803. See the photo below for comparison. Chinese Automatic Movement DG2803 Ligne size 11.5, height 5.3, hand sizes 1.00/1.52/.17, functions: Day, Date, hour, minute, sweep. Compare these specs to the 3135 28.50 mm(12½ lignes) in diameter, 6.00 mm - height

  20. You aren’t really listening to some solid advice here dude... the movement looks like a Guangzhou DG movement of no real quality and as Sogeha said there is little to no chance of getting a 3135 to drop in. Even if you did the dial will not fit without modification, the date window may not align with the date wheel. Keep it as is and wear it... and buy a complete new high end rep from one of the Trusted Dealers.

  21. Welcome to our community. As my esteemed brother has said we are happy to help and the main rule is just don’t be a dick. Stay the right side of that and we have endless patience 😁 we were all new at this game once, nobody expects you to instantly know everything, a little evening reading on threads that interest you will help you a great deal

  23. Hello @Bulawayobill and welcome. For starters, you can try these two sites. www.puretime.io www.intime03.co Browse them, and paste a specific link or 2 of what you are looking for. Members here will help where we can if you know what you are asking and if you ask nicely. In here, there is no such thing as the wrong place to be at, but certainly there are right and wrong attitudes/approaches. Enjoy yourself!

  24. hello @Jegypt2 and welcome to RWG. The rep game has evolved to a stage where many reps are visually acceptable. Also, modding reps (especially AP and Rolex) have become a salient part of the hobby. Did you mean the 42mm panda or the 44mm one? Modding will make a world of visual difference for AP ROO reps especially. So yes, save the money and try a modded rep first, and if you really like it, it will not be late to switch to a gen

  25. My tip is using a black insert, 1) give it a nice and (slow) go with a nail buffer at about 2000-4000 grit to remove the gloss 2) Then a very light bleach 3) then use a torch lighter and lightly torch it from under (imagine a junkie with a spoon-type of way). A tip is creating a holder out of something that doesn't conduct heat very well, e.g. paper towel The dark grey/light black will turn browner and browner.. 4) Last but no least then give ita spray with a glossy varnish, let it dry very thoroughly (preferable over night) Last finish, another go with a nailbuffer at as high grit as possible to even out the varnish layer. That's my cooking recipe, I imagine there are other...
