  1. Stuck this together in late 1990s, Croton/Nivada base with quick set Swiss ETA. Stainless 36mm screw back case with GS Ever-Tite acrylic tension ring crystal. Dial refinished by an outfit in Atlanta, GA (no longer in business). Genuine Ingenieur... Fine watches...except for no parts. Vintage IWC automatics had a winding setup using the same principle as the Seiko Magic Lever. Images from Connoisseur of Time.

  3. Hello Gang, I want to share my latest project. Not ready yet, but gives a clue how it comes out.[emoji3577] It's mostly Raffles, reshaped the really big CG's inside out. Dial and Hands are also Raffles. Better Plexi T-116, good flattop Date and gen Springbars. Needs a gen Tube and 5,5mm Crown and a good bracelet.

  7. "I want to share my latest project. Not ready yet but gives a clue how it comes out." Looks like it's off to a very good start! My abandoned '1675/16750' project from 10 or 15 years ago, in shady B&W... In living color... Still nos, came with new Swiss ETA 2836/Asian 24H conversion. Abandoned because...closed 6/9, crystal is too tall, crown is 6.0mm, not 5.3mm, dial is fair but not properly signed (guess where). Would make a better 16750 than 1675 with the 28,800 2836. Probably a vintage submariner 1680 case. Better off with a Raffles case. Otoh...bezel turns both ways, no clicks, bezel insert is Ok and mounts flat in bez body, good spacing on lug holes, Ok to drill them out. Did I ever get started on it? Not yet. Will I ever finish it? Probably not. Crown pulled out to stop it from running. Pics taken 4-12-24.

  8. Hello everyone, this is Steve and I'm back. It’s another contest between V and C. This is an unpremeditated comparison. In last November, I bought the 36mm GEN 126000 and planned to do a comprehensive comparison of this model. Later I learned that Clean was about to release this model. So I'm waiting for Clean. When I finished the comprehensive comparison of this model in the begining of this year and just about to sell the GEN. It happens that VS will also release this model, so I will definitely have to wait for VS again for the comprehensive comparison of GEN, VS and Clean. In the previous comparison of this model, Clean clearly won the competition with other factories. With the join of VS, we have to choose between the top V and C again. Now, let’s see which one is stronger. Control the bullsht, let's go. Front Dial View Light View Natural Light View The most important part is definitely the color. The color of Clean has been recognized already. Apparently, VS did not disappoint us as well. After comparing in various environments, we can find that the colors of VS and Clean should be the same, and we cannot detect any difference. Compared with GEN, the colors of the two factories are already impeccable, at least it is difficult to detect the color difference with the naked eye. Bezel View The height and width of the smooth bezel are consistent with GEN, and there is no difference to the naked eye. We can see from photo 4 that the bottom of GEN is slightly protruding. VS and Clean are the same, there is no problem for this part. Crystal Side View For the edge chamfering of Crystal, VS is closer to GEN, Clean is more obvious, so it feels smoother than GEN. It’s hard to say that who is better at this part, and there is never a fixed answer in terms of no obvious disadvantages. Crown and Stick View The crown and indexes are in excellent shape and have no obvious flaws. Luminous Fill View Although there is no harm without comparison, in terms of luminous filling details, both VSF and Clean are with full graininess, there is no winner for this part. Mimeograph Front View The top V and C have always been outstanding representatives in mimeographing. Both the three-dimensional effect and the regularity have always been at a perfect level. You never have to worry about them making mistakes in this aspect. Hands and Middle Axle View Both factories use solid central axle. Generally speaking, VS is better. The raised solid round axle is clearer and the height is closer to GEN. We can detect it from the second picture. The leaking sleeve of Clean has a slight chip and is not smooth enough, this might caused by batch issue. Rehaut View The shading of the two factories is similar. After all, the engraving process of the replica factories is the same, and there is no obvious difference in clarity. Crown Side View Case Side View Compared with the normal Oyster Perpetual model, the case shape of the Balloon Oyster Perpetual has not been changed, so there must be no problem with the watch case. This is the most basic. If the body is wrong, then there is no need to replica. Endlink View From the curvature of endlink, both factories are pretty good. Although it’s not perfect, at least they are very similar to GEN, and the feeling they presented does not make people feel awkward. I think this is enough. Caseback View Bracelet and Clasp Details View The overall bracelet gives me the feeling that the quality of the two factories is about the same. For the engraving on the clasp, Clean will be clearer, but there is no big difference in actual comparison with the naked eye. Laser Mark and Lume View Movement View The movement is still the old face of the two factories. VS is equipped with VS3235,But there is no ghost gear position. Since the VS3230 movement has been out of stock for a long time, many Rolex with no date models from VS are released with the VS3235 movement According to the factory, VS3230 movement version will be released later, but there is no specific time. Clean is equipped with VR3230. Data comparison chart Note: All watches are measured in a clamped state, and there may be errors due to the slight deviation of the position of the caliper. Well, today's post is here, thank you guys for watching. If there are any mistakes, please correct me. If there is anything else I overlooked, you can put it up, and I will try my best to complete it. Welcome to comment and exchange! I will continue to bring you more detailed comparisons between replica watches and GEN’s. And it is also for you to choose the favorite models conveniently. Illustration: Some photos deviate from the real object due to the light source. For details, please refer to the content. The size of the comparison picture is relatively large, you can download it and enlarge it for comparison. There is no perfect replica, only the one you prefer. Thanks. 11. I'm planning the same build, only I can't decide between the Yuki or Mochacha dial. Yuki dials are fine, the prices are Ok, and I would like to have one for my SD except... "Flat rate shipping cost: USD 48.00 to worldwide." It would be Ok if ordering 4 or 5 dials...unless they try to charge $48 for each dial. This Higher and Higher priced 'hobby' is beginning to $Burn Me Out$.

  20. It might cost a LOT less to buy another case. By the time your case is totally taken apart, polished, detailed and plated, you might be in Deep $$ Water. Example: The last YGP over steel Prez (with Asian 21 jewel mvt) I bought was $99 iirc. Do not know how good the plating is because I never wore it. Also...if you get another case, be sure it has the 'half hooded' lugs if yours does, or the bracelet will not fit. Btw...I kept an aftmkt 18K Prez case that I got in February 2001 but the dial seat is about 1.5mm too big to accept oem dials. It weighs a hair over 30 grams so I've been thinking about scrapping it...30 grams 18K gold is over $1600 today and a jeweler friend will pay 85% for it = about $1350. Why in the world they made the dial opening too big I'll never know.

  22. Today's gold watch, Rhapsody Royale in 14K gold... Front loader 'waterproof' case', 21 jewel, manual wind (afaik, never opened it), seems thin for an automatic. Paid $100 USD for it May 4, 2003. Gold was $341 to $342 per troy oz on that date. Today it was $2185 USD. Today's 'iron' watch... Faux 'bubbleback' with ETA 2550. Bought three of them from Yahoo auctions 20+ years ago. Very well made and I have seen quite a few for sale claimed to be genuine over the years. Case ref # is 5015, serial # is 545383. The minute numbers are not fully visible because of the angle of the reflector ring but they all show up straight on. ETA 2550 Watch Movement - EmmyWatch

  24. Here are two of my Omega reps. The first is an Omega Seamaster Professional….a full sized (42mm) Bond watch. I bought this watch to see if I should buy the gen, and I liked it so much I picked up the gen. The obvious tells are the stubby crown guards and the slightly off HE valve, but other than that, it is EXTREMELY true to the original. The 2nd is the first rep I bought….an Omega Broad Arrow…this is an automatic chronograph with an asian high-beat 7750. The dial is white with “blued” hands, and it has this beautifully domed mineral crystal. This is the first watch that I ever got multiple comments on from people. It definitely has wrist presence! Over the years the hands have tarnished a bit, but it is still a stunning watch. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  25. Hello everyone, This is Steve and I am back. Today we bring you a Comprehensive comparison of 126610LN, in the past we have taken high resolution detail shots. This time we take a different approach and instead of looking at the details, we will just look at comparison of the appearance in different light and environments, as well as comparison of the look and feel in all aspects . Gen used 23 years from the counter to buy, wear a period of time, Four factories are new and unused, in order to better compare all removed the protective film. So let us begin. Lighted side-by-side view Luminous view ----------------------------------------------- The following photos were all taken under the same light Front view and wearable drawing From the front and wearer's view alone, it can be said that all the factories have reached a level of authenticity, thanks of course to the model's own all-black color scheme. Bezel view Since Gen has been worn for a while, the fill stick will be a bit grayish. We mainly look at the Night Pearl,, VS and King are more cool-toned, Clean is more yellowish, and EW is closest to Gen. Crystal side view Leaving aside the subtle differences in shooting angles, we can see that the edge chamfers are more pronounced on Clean and King, and less so on the VS and EW. Teeth side view We can synthesize the crystal side view together, The teeth of king is slightly longer, resulting in the lower part appears not round enough, and Gen comparison can still see the difference, while the other three factories do not have obvious problems . Middle case view Backcase Edge View Rehaut view Even though the engraving process is different, there is actually no significant difference between replicas and Gen when looking at the Rehaut from this angle. Buckle view the corners of clasp are round polished at all the factories, but Clean is superior. Engraving view Although the engraving traces of replica under magnification will be different from Gen, in reality there is no difference in appearance and the clarity is similar. Cell Phone Flash View ———————————————————————— The following photos are all in natural light Front view and wearable drawing I was focused on this when I did the Hulk comparison in the first half of the year, in natural light there is no blue reflection from Gen window, we can see that VS、Clean and EW have a very distinct blue reflection, King does not. Crystal Backlight View In backlit situations, the replicas present the same visual appearance, which is commendable. Rehaut view Calendar window view Bracelet view The brushed texture makes no difference, and the overall quality and feel of VS and Clean is superior to King and EW. Wearable view in the car As long as the car costs more than Gen, it doesn't matter which factory replica you wear. What do you think? In addition we see the side of crystal, with the constant change of adjusting the angle, Gen at a certain angle reflected blue light is very obvious, VS is also not bad, the other three Factories can also reflect blue light, It is just not obvious enough and the blue isn't as bright as Gen, so it is very faint in the photos. (Both in sunlight and in natural light) _________________________________________ The following photos are all in sunlight. Wearable view Rehaut view Blu-ray effect on the side of crystal Data Comparison View Note: All measurements are taken in a snap-tight condition and may be subject to error due to slight deviations in the caliper position, in addition GEN and all factories intercept two sections of Bracelet. 31. "And yet the value of vintage rolexes is still quite strong even at the lower end where I generally hunt." Agree. I have snagged a few pretty good rolex buys in the last few years but they were not mainstream models. One was a gold top 6694, one was a manual wind no date model, and one was an older 17 jewel (1520) 5500 AK. Otoh I looked on eBay at sold 6694 just now and they are going for around $1100 to $2500 so that's not too bad at the lower end of the prices. I paid $500 for the gold top 6694 and the owner threw some other watchjunk in with the deal so I ended up with about $400 in it but it needs a case tube, crown, crystal, and clean/oil etc = about $500 when finished with crystal, gaskets, spring bars, strap, buckle, ST case tube, swiss Générale Ressorts mainspring, and a good used crown, c/o is free. It probably sold for $250 or less when new. Gold top vintage rolex watches were said to have around 80 microns of gold on top of the case and the bezels were solid gold, usually 14k. The gold case top was a gold cap soldered on the steel case similar to heavy gold fill...you can see the edge of the gold cap on the bottom of the cases. They seem to hold up for many years with no wear through unless some Gomer buffs the gold off the case. A lot of older watches had 20 microns of gold plating on the case, a few were 40 microns, and watches with heavy plating usually have the thickness stamped on them somewhere. Today the better brands are usually 10 microns or less and some cheaper brands are 'flash plated'...you can rub the plating off with a Fabulustre polishing cloth in two or three swipes. Here is a 40 micron rolex case: http://www.passions.com.sg/v2/watch/rolex-30mm-c1960s-oysterdate-precision-ref6466-yellow-gold-40microns-plated High quality Générale Ressorts mainsprings come in many swiss watch brands. A few US GR mainspring suppliers: Cas-Ker Inc Esslinger And Co Jules Borel & Co Otto Frei Some may market them under a supply house brand or other brand name.
