  1. Hi - I am looking for one if these but it seems that the trustytime site is no longer Is there a new site or another dealer you’d recommend for the MKF
  2. My lovely Pam strap just gave out unexpectedly - no sign of it splitting or starting to fail, it just popped. Luckily I was sitting down at the time and watch fell in my lap, not on the stone floor. As a result, I need to find a new silicon strap, but want to make sure it is a good quality one so it doesn't happen again. I wear the strap fitted to my wrist (not tight or loose) and so surprised it gave out so suddenly and easily. Where is the best place to source a silicon strap for the pam deployment? I have the buckle and so just need the strap. I have been looking around the forums and online and whilst all straps look the same, they vary massively in price and so I assume quality Thanks so much in advance IMG_3144.HEIC IMG_3145.HEIC IMG_3146.HEIC
  3. Interesting topic and the fake watches for fake people is a bit too stereotypical... i have a mix of real and replica watches. The reps are because I appreciate the design and a mix of: not wanting to spend tens of thousands on a collection, but also not wanting to worry about the real watch in certain situations. A great example I have both gen and replica omega sea master and planet ocean watches. Near identical (though you can certainly tell the quality difference if you look closely - winding quality, fonts, pearl etc). I wear the real 50% of the time and the rep 50% of the time. The rep if I am playing sport, in foreign countries /places I don't know and where I could get unwanted attention. Scraping / scratching a rep is not the end of the world, or getting mugged for a rep would be scary but not a financial loss. Typically when travelling I bang my watch... Rather bang the rep. I also have just a rep of some watches and just a gen of others. Why? Cost, design, how I want to use and wear it. I see some as transient watches, others as keepers and investments.... As with some here, I have bought a rep to try out and see how it feels and looks - I bought a rep Breitling, with the intent of buying a real one later, but it was too showey and didn't look right on my wrist... If I had bought a real one from day one I would have been [censored].
  4. Hi all, I have been searching for a genuine IWC 5004 strap in black croc leather. I read strap daddy is no longer working which is such a shame - hope he is okay. Any thoughts on where I can get one? Or if anyone wants to sell a gen with the deployment buckle, please do let me know. Before I get flooded with rep / custom strap suggestions, I should say I have a great quality rep strap, but the deployment Buckle does not fasten well, plus I like the idea of a gen strap. if this does not seem possible I may end up keeping my strap and just replacing the deployment clasp with a new one - if people have thoughts on the best place to get a new deployment clasp? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi there. I have a lovely IWC BP 5004, however, it has a couple of problems and I wanted to get some advice before I spend a fortune sorting them out. firstly, there is a tiny mark - looks like a small grease mark on the dial (may or may not clean off) and also a small spec of dust is sometimes visible on the dial. I could probably get this cleaned out, but also thought whether it is worth upgrading to a gen dial - is this mod worth the cost and would it be visibly noticeable. Secondly, the crown on my watch simply pulls out to wind the watch up, whereas I understand the gen unscrews first and then pulls out to wind. Am I right on this? Also the crow has also lost its spring to it and so it is hard to get the crown in to switch between winding the watch and changing the date. It would be ideal to replace the crown and stem with one which screwed in and worked better. Is it possible to get rep parts which do that? Or is it worth upgrading to gen parts? Any thoughts would be really appreciated as this watch is a keeper and I would like to make it as accurate as possible as these little things do niggle. Searching through some of the posts makes the mod look easy for a watchsmith (one of those listed on rwg) to carry out, but i want to be sure. Thanks in advance
  6. Hi there. I am looking for a good repairer / moder in the UK. A's name comes up - do you know where he is based? Would you mind PM'ing me his contact details as I dare not chance a Google search and come up with a clone site. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance
  7. Any updates on the pens - did you receive them and are they good? I am looking for a meisterstuck platinum rollerball - ideally wanted they fountain pen but nib worries put me off. If you have a recommendation on a good source, it would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Thanks. I assume that the price reflects a better quality and more accurate watch compared to the omega? My wife prefers omega, but accuracy may swing in favour of Rolex if a lot better.
  9. I have been scouring the forum for great ladies reps and there don't seem to be many options. The aqua tag heuer was recommended but funding one with the usual top dealers seems hard. My other half also likes the omega constellation here... http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_82&products_id=396 However, I know little about the accuracy of these. Does anyone have experience of this watch and thoughts on accuracy of the plain model with white dial? Also the diamond model with white dial? I was working on the basis that the latter (with diamonds) would be quite flawed and a give away? Thanks in advance
  10. I have a davidsen ultimate Pam 111 going for three or fours year now and still great. I had a bib strap for it which has been awesome, but now am looking for something that is closer to the gen straps. Did you, or are you replacing your strap, as I think that is one area that is a complete give away on the Pam's? If you are replacing it, did you manage to source a cheap gen / good rep?
  11. Cats - you beat me to it. I was going to ask to be first in line if it ever comes up for sale? Perhaps I can be second in line? Amazing watch and finish. Pm me if you ever want to sell.
  12. Put me down for 1 x IWC big pilot 5004 and 1 x Pam lumina Both in black. Thanks
  13. Awesome advice and responses. Thank you. Accuracy is definitely more important than the working PR. Are there any good rep straps out there as $400 is quite steep unless it really makes the watch perfect. I had not heard of torobravo as a dealer; are they any good and well known? I was looking at perfect clones. Happy try another if they have a better model. I would like to get the quality and accuracy as good as possible. Thanks in advance
  14. Awesome watch and looks amazing with the tattoo! I have been looking at getting one of these for a little while (5004) - this or a bell and Ross vintage. The latter seem to be impossible to find much info on. I have a couple if questions on the IWC.... 1. does the power reserve marker actually function? Whenever I see photos of the 5004 the power reserve is at the one day. 2. Replacing the strap is a must; where have people sourced genuine straps from and is it just the strap that needs replacing or the buckle too? 3. Is it pretty much safe to buy from each of the main rep dealers for this, or are there different versions of the watch? I was thinking josh from PC to be a good source, but if there is an ultimate version out there, it would be great to know before I pull the trigger Thanks in advance and happy new year!
  15. Hi there. Avid follower now of reps and have an omega UPO and an ultimate Pam. I would love to add a bell and Ross br02 to my collection, but have really struggled to find any posts about these in the last year, most are 2011 or 2012. Does anyone know what the current B&R range is like and who is the best source to buy from? I would like to aim for 1:1 accuracy. Ideally I would like to wear it for light swimming, but appreciate this is unlikely give the amount of sealing which would be needed. Any help or experience with the BR02 would be great. Thanks in advance
  16. Awesome thanks a lot for the responses. That makes life a lot easier. I have been looking at the straps fom ofrei and am liking the idea of a black rubber deployment strap with white stitching. Though two things put me off: the front looks like leather but is actually rubber - no issue there, but the back of the strap is actually leather which means getting it wet is a no go. Oh, and it's $250 for the strap and another $159 or the clasp. If anyone knows of a good replica of this strap or similar, or even a slightly cheaper gen that would be great. Ofrei also do a totally rubber version with a wave design back. http://www.ofrei.com/page750.html#26465 The second area I have been researching on this forum is replacing the bezel and pearl so that I can get rid of the annoying misaligned pearl. There are some great posts on here of how to do it but I am too much of a newbie to modding to try it myself as it looks quite difficult. Are there any dealers out there who do this mod and if so, how much should I expect to pay (plus parts)? Thanks in advance.
  17. I have a now two year old UPO 45.5mm from precious time and it is stil beating strong, great watch and my daily wear. I have a real seamaster too which used to be my daily, but the UPO rep is just so good (and working in london) gets the occasional knock which matters less on the rep. I have a small problem with the watch in that this morning I (well actually my 3 year old pulled the strap hard and the bin gave way) have broken the spring bar in the watch strap, whilst this has lived to 2 years of daily use, I dont think the part was the best quality. I am now looking for a replacement spring bar to replace both ends on the strap. Am I best buying the genuine bars from ofrei or does anyone know the best place to buy aftermarket bars that are good quality? If so, what size bars are right for the UPO I don't want the strap to wobble or be loose. My second question is that I would like to get a really good quality rubber deployment strap, the gen seems I be several hundred dollars and so if I can get a great rep that would be ideal - any thoughts in where best to source the strap and deployment clasp. My watch is currently on a rep standard rubber which has been great, i also have the bracelet if I fancy a swap occasionally (though I tend not to bother as the seamaster is on the metal strap). In terms if other reps I also have the brietling navitimer, tend not to wear it much as it has some factory dust particles inside on the glass. I also have a pan 117 ultimate rep on a thick leather strap - whilst th strap was aftermarket and expensive, I want to move to a closer to gen one of these too (yes I will pot this to the panerai section - but just in case you have any thoughts on good close to gen rep straps thought I would ask) Thanks In advance
  18. Photos at long last and boy were you right adjust the SS bracelet was hard work and removing spring bars a pain. I am now on the SS and think that I will leave it on this. I did take some photos on the black rubber before swapping over, let me know your thoughts on this UPO and feel free to point out any flaws - the pearl is the big one I have noticed. Also, I have tried to photograph the movement in the hope that someone can confirm that this is the Swiss movement. The main update I would like to make to this watch is to replace the bezel inset with a better one (better positioned pearl). Found this bezel on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...#ht_7559wt_1137 It looks as if this bezel on ebay has a much better positioned pearl and a better rep of the real thing (though the paint around the 20 does look a bit patchy, though I think that is just light reflections - what do you think?) However, if the pearl is part of the bezel on the UPO that will cause problems fitting the above - unless the pearl can be sanded right down, or surely is it not just also glued in on the UPO and needs a bit of work to remove? Advice from anyone who has done this would be really welcomed. Also, any comments in general about the watch would be gratefully received. Cheers to you all.
  19. Great post. It did concern me though as I was about to buy this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400090879332&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_7559wt_1137 It looks as if this bezel on ebay has a much better positioned pearl and a better rep of the real thing (though the paint around the 20 does look a bit patchy, though I think that is just light reflections - what do you think?) However, if the pearl is part of the bezel on the UPO that will cause problems fitting the above - unless the pearl can be sanded right down, or surely is it not just also glued in on the UPO and needs a bit of work to remove? The one niggle that bothers me about my UPO is the pearl offset position in the bezel. On that note, here are some pics of my UPO from Precious Time. Let me know your thoughts... It would be great to understand what bits of mine should be addressed - also to get confirmation that the movement is Swiss I have a rubber strap and the SS bracelet with the watch, though changing between the two is so hard I have just left on the SS. Strangely it looked smaller on the rubber and slightly cheaper; the SS finishes it off better in my mind. What do you think? Thanks in advance PS - sorry, my photos are terrible - I will try and take some better ones, but, it is hard to get reasonable pics.
  20. Sweet - particularly the black croc. I am keen to find a black deployment strap. Where is best to source one and how much should I expect to pay for a genuine strap and genuine deployment clasp? Thanks in advance. Can't wait to see more gen strap pictures.
  21. If no-one has a Panerai 111 rep on a gen strap, has anyone got a Pam (any model) on a gen strap? Just would be interested to see if it is worth the investment. Also, where is the best place to source a gen strap?
  22. Hi there - I have a Pam 111h ultimate from DSN which is a around 2 years old now and used as a weekend watch. It still runs perfectly and whilst I upgraded to a Kain heritage thick leather strap a while back, I am now considering a gen panerai strap to finish it off. Firstly, how much should I expect to pay for a gen leather pam strap and where is it best to source one? Secondly, has anyone got a 111 on a gen strap and could you post pictures so that I can see the end result and admire the beauty? Finally, to me the Pam 111 DSN ultimate only has one noticeable flaw - the crown is to thin. Is there anything else that is notable on this watch as a difference to the gen and if I were to put a gen strap on would that achieve 99% accuracy to the real thing? Has anyone got some photos of the ultimate DSN next to the real thing? Sorry for all of the questions, but, I am intrigued with the finishing touches. I also have a UPO and am considering the gen bracelet. Thanks in advance and can't wait for some eye candy photos of your pieces.
  23. Thanks all - Pugwash, sorry, yes, I am in the UK. Resistor - that would be great. Do you want to PM me with a price for a couple of bars (if you have lots maybe 4 bars as I have a fear they are going to be a pain to put in and am concerned I break one)? BoltGP - sincere thanks for the links. I was quite surprised at the price of the crown and tube - I was expecting a lot more. Looking at the replacement process, it does not look too bad, so maybe I will give it a go. Anyone had direct experience and would they say this is an easy first mod? Or, would it be better to pass to an expert? Thanks to you all - I am always impressed with this forum and the advice I get; it is a great source of information and everyone is always so helpful. Am looking forward to the weekend when I can wear the watch, take some photos and complete a full review. Cheers
  24. After many months of hunting for a UPO, I managed to get hold of one from PT. Since placing the order his communication was great and the watch took a couple of weeks to arrive, but he has QC'ed and packaged on. The biggest advantage of PT for me being in Europe was no customs hassles or worries. Also if anything goes wrong it is just a european return for me. I ordered mine with both SS and rubber and am glad I did - though boy are the straps a bit of a hassle to change over and the SS bracelet links are hard work to remove (pins are in so tight so it takes time and patience). I will be submitting a review and photos when I have had the watch a couple of days, it is literally just out of its well wrapped shipping package and straps changed over. One thing I have noted though when changing the straps is that the end of each spring bar is bent slightly - this means they are easier to relocate back into the lugs, but, don't seat 100% fully in. Is this normal? is the UPO design such that the pins have to be bent (both are bent in the same way though one more than the other). I am a bit concerned that if I were to flex my wrist hard or catch the watch one end of the strap could come away, fall on the floor and damage my precious UPO. Does anyone have a spare set of spring bars I could have to try out and see if they fit without being bent; or where is the best place to get a set? Thanks in advance. Now on to the watch - I can't help but provide a short overview. First look of the watch is great. If you are like me and spent an age reviewing this forum before buying, the first things I looked at were the usual rep tell-tail signs: 1. Hand length - fantastic second and minute hands are right out to the end of the dial and were the big reason for me getting the UPO rather than the PO 2. Font on dial - spacing of the font is always cited as an issue with the UPO, but either I am not too observant, but, it looks fine to me 3. Omega logo happy feet - well yes, the happy feet are there, but, I have a gen seamaster (around 8 years old but bought brand new in Switzerland) and that has them too. This does not bother me and actually you have to be in good light and at the right angle, whilst concentrating on a still watch to be sure it has them. If the causal observer were to be able to tell I would be amazed. 4. Watch case - well this is a hard one for me. I have tried on a gen PO when my Seamaster when I took my Seasmaster in for service, but can't truly recall how it felt. The UPO feels solid, though I personally think the case is a bit shiny. It is also a thick case (don't know whether that is accurate to the gen or not, can only compare to my Seamaster which is much thiner in comparison) - can anyone confirm whether the UPO thickness is right? 5. Bezel - aside from a little glue which needed cleaning away - this looks great. It turns with solid feeling click and only goes in one direction. feels and looks really good. The glue is a worry as I will want to use this swimming and so may need to take the bezel off and seat with a stronger glue - don't want the UPO to come out of the water naked! 6. Pearl - well it is seated wrong - bit too low in the triangle but I knew it would be. 7. Straps - great. The SS is solid with a strong clasp. In terms of accuracy and quality - it is a little looser and cheaper feeling then my seamaster, but, I would expect it to be. Once I get some additional pins I will swap the UPO back to the SS and wear it on this for a while. At the mo I have it on the rubbber and am really enjoying it (only had it an hour though). The rubber is soft and pliable and feels great on the wrist. Overall impression watch - great watch and quality. I will keep it on a few days and check accuracy, comfort, etc. and then write up a proper review with pics. Overall impression dealer - fantastic. Once ordered, PT was quick to respond and gave me updates all of the way through. He QC'ed the watch and packaged it really well. He has been a gent to deal with and impressions to date are perfect. Hopefully nothing with go wrong with the watch, but, if it does I will review how that goes and the results - let's hope I never need to find out though. Mods I am keen to try: 1. Waterproofing - I want this for light pool and sea swimming so waterproofing and testing is a must. Are there any good and reputable EU modders who can do this for me? I think the mod involves sealing off the helium valve from inside and testing? 2. The crown stem - undoing this and winding the watch worries me given the number of reviews where crown stems get stripped so I am being extra careful. I think that I will have this modded with a gen as part of step 1. 3. Bezel gluing - as if this is attached with the dreaded water-based glue and I swim, it won't last long. If anyone has any thoughts on the costs of mods 1-3 it would be really appreciated. Likewise the best way to source the crown stem and whether I should dare attempt this myself (my abilities so far are limited to taking of the case back and adjusting straps so a complete noobie - there is nothing like learning by trying, but, not learning by breaking!) If anyone has any spare bars, or can point me to somewhere to get them easily and quickly, it would be really appreciated. As I say a fuller review with photos to follow. The above is my reaction after one hour with the watch and so far I would have no hesitation in recommending the UPO and PT
  25. Hi there and sincere thanks to you all for your posts. I did mention I was from RWG and that the dealers mentioned had come highly recommended. I should update you in that PT has now come back to me and I have ordered a UPO. I am hoping that it comes with the correctly spaced text on the dial. I sent payment around 7 days ago and so within the next 10 days I should have a UPO in my hands. I never did get to the bottom of the lack of communication and Mary has not come back to me. I am not blaming any dealers as I may well have email filtering issues (I do use google). On the other hand, patience did allow me to research the UPO a little more. If I am not happy with the dial text and the crown stem, who would be the best modders to contact with experience in this (modders in the EU only as when I get the UPO I don't want to risk losing it with customs - I am UK based). Are there any other mods I should consider as a must? Also, bearing in mind my experience to date is removing case backs to check movements, is a dial change and crown stem change sraight forward and should I attempt myself? Of course it goes without saying, photos will be posted soon and I look forward to reviewing the watch and experience with PT. Thanks to you all and happy UPOing!
