  1. Not like that one it had a black face but its working fine and pin point accurate hasnt lost half a minute from My Applemac (time set by mac) clock in two weeks but I have had a few replicas that are completely different from the picture, like totally different watches just the same brand is the only similarity, and I started getting a bit cheesed off with waiting for stuff and when you crack open the toy you got something as worthless as the plastic train it was ferried in. Thats why im turning to Dr Frankenstein in future.
  2. Dear Gang I recently bought a replica (supposedley Swiss) Vintage Daytona from replica-supplier.com Its the correct size 37mm, Its automatic with seconds at nine, the movement is not gold of colour so ripped off there now they've stopped replying to my calls. but curiously enough it keeps spot on time better than any other replica ive had, could this be luck of the draw ? or what movement do you think I have . All the subdials work. ? I would post a pic but I cant train mu puter to keep the size to a decent format Im working on it.
  3. Its a lovely (Newman) Freddy Dont you just lovvit when people are stunned by the watch, I used to work on the London Foreign exchange on the yen desk and all the suits used to love having a great watch because they were always out on the lash after work flashing their rollies and their Amex gold cards. Just tell me the watch looks too big to be a 37mm I thought a 39-40 mm would be a dead give away please inform me ? whats right?
  4. Thanks Arty , thats quite a good site cuz like me you probably watch films and say to yourself "whats that watch hes wearing" In the film 'Zodiac' there are some great vintage watches with metal stretch straps I think these old timers should make a comeback.
  5. Not quite sure what you mean by that maybe you are thinking ahead of me. but it was all in the name of fun. yeah Chad is a good name.
  6. This one looks a bit odd to me , Very expensive , factory condition Been on the auction site for years. Whats the story we should give her a name? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-VINTAGE-DAYTONA-...1QQcmdZViewItem I was impressed with the geranium garden backdrop, I see the price is $49.000.00 that could be too rich for anyones blood but its impeccable condition un scratched and is that the factory plastic red stripe I see on the back. If this has never been worn then Im sure someone would pick up this gem. BUT $50.000.00 Cooooeeee!
  7. So im a bit of a social dare devil right! I live in South Africa and recently had my brother in law from Los Angeles stay with us in our beautiful house in the mountains. I happen to love replica watches because I like seeing how close you can get to the real thing I have gens too. Here's the story. Ive got a friend who like me made our money in the square mile London for years and I drifted to a more tropical Zone for adventure. He is a bit of a BS'er on the phone and is always telling me yarns that I know aren't true like deals he's done that I know are fake . he happens to love watches too. In Fact we both went to 'Watches of Switzerland, Bond street (London) together to buy matching Rolex Datejusts in full rose gold and doled out
  8. Vintage Daytona? What does it mean when the moving second hand on the sub dial is at the 9 o'clock dial? aren't they usually at 6 Oclock? This is an auto winder but I laso have an auto winder FRANCK MULLER and the second moving hand is at 6 oclock? so it cant be the difference between auto and hand wind?
  9. Its not too plain look....The 12 , 3, 6, and 9 have double sticks. AARRRRGGGGHHH! I can't look it toooo busy!! take it away!
  10. He also uses his sub bezel as an angle grinder to cut through Hand ties to avoid being dropped into a shark pool. Classic Bond stuff went to te cinema to see it when it was first released as a kid. QUESTION: What is the exact Example they used for the pic I think it was a single or double red sea dweller ? And can I get one wuith a saw and magnet 'frankened' by someone??
  11. Im looking for a Decent MBW DRSD I dont mind what I pay, As I think these Swiss ETA'S go on for life , tell me if you think thats not so ? But without endorsing anyone (i did ask) who in your opinion has the best one? I want the right back and pressure tested to at least 50m not to yellow markers 'Patent pending' would be even better Andy of TT has sold out so where now?
  12. Woah! Woah!...... Slow down now you guys lets not start coming over in a cold sweat just yet waiting for our 'watch porn' to arrive' He saying "my Grandad is sporting the equivalent of Jessica Alba on his arm" Have you even considered this could be in his dreams and hes doing it to get a rection from you salivating wolfhounds. I want to see Grandad in the picture too not just some Promotion shot or Archive Pics. So bring it on down, my suspicions were aroused when he dropped in the comment " he kept it in a dusty cupboard for most of its life, never hardly wore it" yeah right! Im too long in the tooth to be believing such stuff . You will be saying next that the coffer it was kept in is actually the 'Arc of the covenant' We will see , I will make a firm apology in capitals and cower into a corner quivering and mumbling nonsensical gibberings if I see genuine proof! Its a full month on and he didnt come up with the goods..Im going to enjoy my porridge!
  13. Metal expandable watch straps! You know the one your grandad wears . The only place you can usually buy them is in run down old shoe menders and key cutters. But are their any dealers who do nice rolled gold al-a-carte ones wider heavier with some decoration on them. I think these old straps should make a comeback. but really good quality versions. the ones you buy hanging on a strip of card always look tatty and plain. My grandad left me a really nice art deco one from the thirties But its a bit small. Anyone come across some good examples?
  14. Is it possible to get a modern steel Daytona and stick a Paul Newman dial on it will all the sub dials line up? cuz I know different dealers sell different faces and sometimes the dials are too bunched up or too far apart. But if I got a real Daytona (modern) and sent it to someone like Jong would he be able to fit a classic old dial? Just to make it unique. and probably a rarity as the old dials are much nicer than those modern 'Hoops' for subdials what do you think?? P.S.I know the original dials were to fit a 37mm watch but people are making the bigger ones.? any one had this done before?
  15. Thanks! It all makes perfect sense now. Sheeez Im glad I joined this forum as you guys know it all. I have always wondered about that bezel. Why also have you got a picture of my wife in bed on your signature. ? My vintage starts measuring in that case after fifteen seconds only as the units per hour start at tha crown unlike your more modern version.
