  1. Did you get your root beer yet? If so, any pics?
  2. I don't like the way the date is top justified. I don't think it's gen.
  3. I'm not so sure BK will "fix you up". The last piece I got from him had a Swiss ETA 2836-2 with a Chinese GMT complication that slips. (Second time this has happened from him). I was pretty much told that I was on my own. The first time this happened, he replaced the movement with an ETA 2893-2, at my expense. Took months!
  4. These are excellent reps right out of the box. Honestly, it's VERY hard to notice any discernable difference. This is the nicest and most accurate rep oob I've ever had. Not sure why you would pay a premium to BK for this. To each his own. Great rep, though. I really had a hard time telling which is which.
  5. I neglected to mention that I already have a franken 1655, so I'm reluctant to buy one just for the case. I didn't have a vintageized ( is that a word?) piece in mind, just the GMT Master with an acrylic crystal and good lume. Love the distortion effect around the edge of this iconic timepiece! Thanks gentlemen.
  6. I'm yearning for a 1675ish GMT Master. What oob GMT should I get that I could actually wear for a while before committing funds for a franken job. which dealer, which model? i need the valuable insight for a few GMT Master gurus.
  7. or PBdad. Excellent work.
  8. the BP Sub C is my favorite oob rep. No obvious issues at all!
  9. Wow! Does that pop or what? Beaut!!!
  10. Nice watch and great pics. I've been looking at these lately as well. One thing though, the bezel numbers look painted. I don't see any 3 dimensional relief as you would when the numbers are actually engraved in the ceramic. Am I wrong?
  11. Will the BP SD take gen parts? A gen crystal for insatance. Is the case built to gen specs, unllike the Jackjo SSD? Disregard. Didn't notice the earlier posts.
  12. Testament to your IT planning and ops. I'm impressed. I'll be spending more time here than I have. Keep up the great work!
  13. The WM9 sub is as good as it gets. Especially if it's BK modded. VERY close to the gen. I have both. The SMP on the other hand, is not even close to the gen. IMHO they scream fake. Besides, you can pick up a gen Omega SMP Chrono for as little as $1200.00 on some of the gen forums if you keep your eyes open. The sub, on the other hand will cost you around $3500.00, depending on the model, on the secondary market. Get where I'm coming from? Why spend around $5,000.00 for a new gen sub, when for around $500.00 you can get a piece that is virtually indistinguishable from the gen article. A gen SMP can be had for not much more than the rep, which are not even close. Stick with the sub, save your money and buy the gen Omega.
  14. That's exactly what I was going to say, Greg! I'll give a bump to those!!!
  15. I've been playing drums for over 40 years. Buddy Rich was the best I've ever seen by a long shot. I like Neil, don't get me wrong....but rock drummers are a dime a dozen. It's just not that hard. Sorry kids.

    BANNED!

    Doxas....Bah! Overpriced ETA's.
  17. I also have been thru some real hard times. Not recently, but years ago. I won't go into detail, but my story could go into a book of success stories. Best advice I ever had: Stay strong, use your head and keep smilin'. Glad to hear things are turning around. I have to investigate this online poker thing....
  18. The trouble with this plan, and with many others I've heard, is that the guy who buys what he can afford and makes his payments on time, gets screwed. Does the phrase "redistribution of wealth" ring a bell?
  19. I would first decide on which models you are interested in. Then search the s### out this forum for all pertinent info and insight before you actually buy anything. Research the dealers as well. The dealers on this site will bend over backwards to please you (within reason). Also bear in mind that these pieces are manufactured in low overhead factories in China. That almost always translates into no QC. It might be a good idea to stick with pieces advertising "Swiss ETA" with no movement complications. Even then... This, I've found is a good formula for a good first buying experience. Then, roll the dice. Good luck, it's a fun hobby enjoyed by many good people!
  20. I wouldn't sweat the dots. The lume is fantastic!
  21. Those mov'ts need to be wound 30 - 40x before wearing them. If you just put it on and expect it to run, they will stop.
  22. I don't think a brand new gen submariner is intrinsically worth over 6 thousand dollars. I've had several gen Rolexes and they haven't been completely trouble free. Gave them all to my 3 sons for special occasions. If they aren't stolen, they'll give them to their sons. No doubt about it, they are nice watches, but not worth over 6 grand. Since I gave them to my sons, I'll not see any appreciation of value, but actually that is one reason I bought them in the first place. Now that that has been accomplished, I'll stick with a few solid reps and be done with it. I have to say though, of all the gens I've ever owned, I'll probably buy an Omega Seamaster pro chronograph again. Great value there. Design, materials, fit and finish is just the best for the money anwhere imho. Only one of two watches I know of that has chrono pushers that can be operated at depth. These can be had on the secondary market for less than 2k. What gives market value to Rolex is the Rolex marketing machine. They control the price of gen Rolex like the DeBeers diamond cartel controls the price of diamonds.
  23. Don't know where you dug this one up, but it was a good laugh! Down the road, my friend...
