  1. Guys, As I travel alot in my work, I have a membership with International SOS and they frequently sends me travel advise and updates. Right now I get a lot of mails about the Swine Flu and wanted to share this link with you guys... International SOS Swine Flu ("Pig Flu") Update
  2. Come to think of it when I read what I posted, it do seems that way! This is of course not the case... You could of course search out my postings on the forum to see that I am not some sort of newly registered mule for "Kaplans"... *LoL*
  3. Lately I have been looking for vintage gens (even though I probably cant afford it right now, it
  4. Just wanted to share this with you guys: Im out travelling in Norway at the moment, staying at a SAS Radisson hotel in downtown Oslo. This evening before dinner I decided to relax and take a warm bath, so I filled up the tub and relaxed. When I was emptying the tub I noticed that there was some water on the bathroom floor, seemed like the drain couldnt handle all the water draining from the tub. I didnt think too much of this to begin with and put some towels on the bathroom-floor to clean it up... When I came out of the bathroom I realised that I had seen a couple of percent of all water that leaked out...since most of the water now was soaked into the wall-to-wall carpet in front of the bathroom going off in all directions... So I went down to the frontdesk and explained that my room was kinda flooded...and they gave me a business suite instead... So next time you stay at a hotel, check that all your stuff is away from the floor in front of the bathroom, take a long warm bath and get an upgrade after the flooding... ...I can see my plan backfire badly though... LoL
  5. I recently tried to change the rubber straps on my BR 03-94 to the nylon "combat" straps I ordered, but I have great difficulty getting the pin into the "pincanal" (for lack of better words) in the nylon-strap. Anyone succeeded to change the straps in the BR 03-94 without breaking or bending the pin? Thanks, w
  6. I took a triple espresso and calmed down... After I posted the above, the guy redid his website and he has a lot of models. I mailed him and asked around and you get all the papers, boxes and whatnot when you purchase. Sweden is a very open society so I took the liberty to call Swedish Enforcement Authority ("kronofogdemyndigheten" in Swedish) to see whether this company had any issues with them and it seems not, which is good. I am actually thinking purchasing a SKX007 or similar model a little bit later this spring. I will keep you posted how it goes and if they seems trustworthy.
  7. Maybe we should starts a repository of dis-info about this? I start with one that discredits RWG, ok? RWG: "Rwg? Dont bother with these guys, they are just buying lousy rep-watches. I have heard from my friends girlfriends brother that they all buy fake Rolexes in Chinatown in SFO. And man, I mean, these copies - no these fakes! - are unbelievable sloppy...all Rolexes are misspelled. That
  8. I liked this comment from http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...ev=&reveal= "...I scared the pants off myself when I saw the fakes out there. I finally pulled the trigger on an ROO Safari from a reputable dealer and then started to look on line. If I had not purchased from a known entity, I probably would have opened the thing myself to just to be comfortable. The fakes are unbelievable. Straps, boxes, papers and holograms are all available on line. A local AD told me the only way they were able to identify a fake rolex was through a typo on the back of the case. He also told me about an AP from someone witha very large collection that turned out to be fake. They only found out when they sent it to AP for repairs. Some watch "replica" sites review replicas, like the Graham Swordfish, where the replica is better made than the real one, and indistinguishable. Other sites are showing Panerais with swan neck features in the movements and improved crystals that make it impossible to tell it is a fake. "Patek" Aquanauts and Nautilus look identical to the real thing. I can't imagine buying from a private seller anymore. Even if they have a great reputation, how do you know the guy who sold it to them didn't rip them off? Scary world out there. . . . . . " So is the Graham Swordfish Rep "better" than the real one?? Really? I havent looked so much into the Graham reps since I thought they were too bulky IMHO, but maybe I should...maybe I should... I actually saw one gen Graham model displayed at an AD when I was in CA recently, at the Santana Row near San Jose and it was quite expensive...so I rather have a rep of it... Any Graham fans on the board?? Gimme some suggestion what models are cool and which are not... *LoL*
  9. The security key is unfortunately unavailable in Sweden and almost in all of EU, with the exception of Germany according to Paypal: "...Thank you for writing in relation to the security key. Regretfully I must inform you that ,at the moment, the security key is only available for US, Australian and German customers. We will continue to expand our capabilities in the future, but we cannot give a timetable for this possible expansion. PayPal is constantly working to improve our product and services for our customers. Please continue to watch our website for future changes and updates to our service. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Sincerely, Paolo..."
  10. A Kenneth Cole (model unknown, with some sort of moon-phase complication). It looks kinda expensive - can post pics of it if you want -but I got it for like
  11. Thx, I will definately send a PM when my plans gets more "real" and not only in my head... I am currently looking for some sort of CAD or similar software that are aimed for watchdesign so I can get my ideas out of my head into the real world. I have Googled the web and found out that some use "ordinary" vector graphics software for watch-design, but I am not positive that this really would suit me. Perhaps there are no specialised software for this? Or is it? Anyone?
  12. Thanks for asking, but no watch yet in my mail...I hope the B&R will come this week though.
  13. Guys/girls, Anybody know more about Gaseous Tritium Light Source (GTLS) as used in the Luminox watches? http://www.luminoxshop.com/luteandmihio.html A brief description here of GTLS: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;mode=threaded "...Gaseous Tritium Light Sources (GTLS), also called Tritium Light Sources, are usually small glass ampoules [sic] filled with a bit of tritium gas and lined with a thin layer of phosphor that converts the radiation from the tritium into visible light; the glass ampoule is usually sealed in a small oblong capsule-shaped block of clear polycarbonate plastic for protection and to afford toughness and durability. These little light sources are usually rather small, and provide a source of constant non-stop light for periods ranging from 15 years to 30 years (the ultimate limit to effective light-emitting lifetime is limited by the half-life of tritium gas, which is on the order of 12.4 years). And, of course, no batteries are needed, since the tritium gas itself provides the power for the light. These little light-emitting plastic-encased capsules are widely used in perpetual exit signs, in sporting products and for camping, etcetera., and are often sold in colors such as red, blue, pink and green..." So are there any health-issues of this radiation when used in a watch? (I know that I have worn watches when sleeping and I usually have my hands quite near my head when sleeping.)
  14. I have for quite some time nurtured the idea of creating a small startup-company that would specialise in "niche-watches" - preferably in the type of watch I like myself, ie. rugged and heavyduty watches. Think B&R or Seiko 007 or Seiko Black Monster type of watches. As my brother-in-law is in the special forces I was thinking about asking him and his specop collegues to be my guinea pigs if and when I decide to make a small batch of watches. I previosuly had a small company together with my wife in a very different area (fitness), but we ended the company several years ago. In my professional career I have also built up the brand of a security company in Scandinavia together with a collegue. Being a techie I was surpised that I liked the brand-management and selling as much as I did. I started to look into companies that could possibly help creating a small batch of my own watch-designs (that I only have in my head and on sketches on paper, since I suck at graphical software) and I was wondering if someone at RWG could point me along the way? I have very briefly talked to a Swedish company called Capella Industries AB that designs and manufacture at least two brands: Lambretta Watches: http://www.lambrettawatches.com/ SAS Watches: (This is just an example on an online retailer that has some good pics of them) http://www.klockor.nu/sas-c-670.html?language=en The "problem" I saw when talking to them was that they were not too keen of letting an outsider provide a design, but mainly wanted me to "pick and choose" a watchdesign from their existings designs, ie. I could opt for hands from one model, a case from another, the crown from yet another of their model etc., which would be fine normally, but I wanted to use my own designs. Also, it seemed that they were quite expensive, since they wanted to involve a lot of people and drag out on the design-process (6 months+) Now I dont have unlimited funds, but very limted money, so I need to think outside the box and perhaps find other ways of doing this. I appreciate all the ideas you may have on this. Thanks
