  1. thanks for replies -

I got offered another watch yesterday!

Its a 16610 Submariner from 2006, I have been told. Comes with box and papers.

Question for you guys - and I know this isn't the best picture but wanted to get your thoughts. I asked him to show the watch at the current time to prove it exists.

However, I noticed it has a flat "s" which indicates a D-serial (which sets this to 2005 model)?

Any experts can chime in here and let me know if this looks good?

    Price is just under U$4.8K

  3. Thanks for comments guys. To answer:

    1) I have repainted the damaged parts to the best that I can. Picture show the worse of the repaint - is not obvious in real life.

    2) gen crown would put me back 60-70 bucks - not sure if worth it

    3) 2783/4 dial feet different to 2824 so will need to cut off feet

  4. I am also experimenting with a (in my case cheap) blue snowflake. First I had a Clark insert but it was almost purple. The second attempt was a cheap one from the bay (J&K). I'm pretty happy about it. I do not know if I'm going to experiment with it (oven, drain cleaner)

    Here two bad iPhone pictures:

(and a Rafflestime dial with dirty Clark crystal)

Can you link me to where you got the bezel insert from ebay?

    thanks!

  5. Hi all,

Thanks for all that has helped answer questions - in particular, Aeromatic.

I thought i'll share with you guys this build - This is now completed.

The craving was actually after a blue dial and bezel tudor - but when I found the genuine black dial, I thought i'll just stick to black for now. Maybe in the future, I can find the blue parts and switch over!

Firstly, lets start with the cost breakdown for anyone hoping to do the same in the future. There are two approaches to building this:

    1) Budget Build: Using TD products

    2) Standard Build: Using Yuki products

I went with the budget build as using Yuki products sends you towards the $800 mark. Here's the breakdown including shipping prices:

    Tudor 9411 Budget Build:

    •
    • TD 1680 = $148
    •
    • Yuki dial and hands = $113 / I managed to get a gen dial for $90 and aftermarket hands for $15
    •
    • ETA 2783 movement = $35
    •
    • ETA stem = $14
    •
    • Caseback engraving = $75
    •

    For a total of ~$385

    Tudor 9411 Standard Build:

    •
    • Yuki Case = $580
    •
    • Yuki dial and hands = $113
    •
    • ETA 2783 movement = $35
    •
    • ETA stem = $14
    •
    • Crown = $30-60
    •
    • Bracelet = $65
    •

    For a total of ~$850

Now obviously Yuki will have the correct engraving on the lugs and backcase which the budget build will not have but to me this is less important.

Anyway, here's what I started off with.

    1) Took the TD case and shaved the crown guards and faded the bezel insert...The dial was then repainted - not perfect but I think its acceptable

    2) The clasp has the two ridges on the flip lock buckle, that was sanded down to look more like the 93150.

Quite a enjoyable build and think it turned out ok - let me know your comments and what else you think I can do to make it better!
