  1. Thanks all for the warm welcome back! I've forgotten how much fun it was to grab a glass of red and stalk the Rollie forum... I've been in contact with TC and I definitely got the "warm and fuzzies"... His sub seems to be " wear and go"...not obsessing over the size of the crown, the shape of the cg's, magnification...blah blah blah... I'm gonna order the V6...just not sure black or LV...in a week or so. I'm ebaying like a nut right now to raise some funds wifey dont know exisist! Its starting all over again...but I guess there's plenty of worse things in life.
  2. You know what...that does ring a bell...he was one of many "self proclaimed" experts lol...too funny... The Zigmeister could assemble any movement blindfolded and still some of the "experts" would challenge him...remember The Zigmeister's tutorials...brilliant photography and detailed explanations... I would pm him a question and he would go out of his way...with photos...guiding me... How about Ubi...I wonder if he still has the same granite counter top in his house...the backdrop for all his pics. I often wondered what he did for a living...he seemed to have an endless pile of cash to buy Daytona cases and movements...
  3. If my memory serves me correctly RBJ unfortunately developed some serious medical issues... remember before he bailed there was a lynch mob gonna form to go hunt him down...remember he had lots of members watches to do mods on before he disappeared... I think his intentions were good he just got in over his head...
  4. Ok...it seems pretty clear that the answer to the question that is soooooo taboo here has been finally answered. Years ago there were lots of "good" sub's out there...all with their miniscule flaws that only the boys here could point out...and I still think that the sharp eyes on this forum could blow away any "gen" forum dudes... So my question is this...what if TC gets abducted by aliens from Andromina... who is second on the dream list? Oh Paul...Paul... are you still out there?
  5. Hello boys! Wow...TC sounds like the way to go ...I emailed him two weeks ago and am still waiting for a response. No more modding for me though...my lamps are not as good as they used to be...even with the best of lopes and floodlights I can't see [censored]! Remember that clown "fliplockbuckle" and all his stupid questions? Lots of guys thought he was doing his crap on purpose...Lots of guys were actually tasking the time to answer his insane queries... What ever happened to that guy from Canada...I can't remember his name but his avatar was a Wright Bros flyer...if my memory serves me correctly...he was a true artist and craftsman...he also did lots of tutorials...a real wizard with movements...I remember I needed screws for a gen Rolex winding bridge...he pm'd me and asked for my address and sent them to me...that's real class.
  6. Thanks! Like Michael said...when you think your out, they pull you back in!
  7. I haven't been here in years...literally. I was a member of the old forum and one of the first bunch to join here. Back in 2009 or 10 my obsession stopped...just like that. Bought tons of reps and tools...lots of trial and error...mostly error...but with lots of expert advice and a bit of luck I became a little " franken builder" My creations are still running strong...all Rollie of course. My modded MBW Sea Dweller is my daily beater and runs a good as my gen. And just like that...the rep bug bit me again... After some reading here I'm floored by the changes... Yuki makes a 3135 replica movement...not just colored wheels on a ETA? Wow! Is Paul still around? He was hit or miss...like ordering a cheese burger and getting a hot dog. Once I ordered a PAM from him and got 2 sub's! Never answered my emails regarding a return so I kept them...gave one to my buddy and he still wears it... Gotta love ETA! With all that said I think I'm gassing for a nice sub...out of the box...don't want to mod...just wear and enjoy. I'm thinking maybe Andrews super sub (always had good luck with him) or TC...never heard of him but following links his sub seems to be the "shizzle-manizzle" Maybe LV...not sure yet... What would yuz guys do...point me in the right direction! Cheers!

    New Here!

You are right...here's some picks. There is a small piece missing that I lost...rollie bands are so simple...ahhhh
  9. Hello all! I've been a Rollei fan for many years and it seems I've bit by the Panerai bug...I pulled the trigger and got a 44mm Marina Luminor and LOVE it! After a few hours of wearing it I decided to remove the steel bracelet and soften the inner edges with a little steel wool and polish. Well so much for QC...one of the band screws was stripped and just jammed into the case and was destroyed while removing...it gets better...the end link piece broke in my hand. I desperately need a new end piece. If anyone can help me pm me!
  10. The perfect watch...the perfect build by a master craftsman I finished the exact same project last year...damn you got some good prices! I'm sure Ubi feels the same way I do when it comes to "perfect-builds" The cost becomes irrelivent when you stay true to your focus...and the feeling when you put your creation on for the first time is priceless... Wear it good health! (Ubi...I'd post picks but my granite isn't as nice as yours!)
  11. thanks for the info... I gave it a shot...I'll take your advise
  12. I've got a 1016 from Andrew (Trusty) that needs a new crystal. I've got a Tropic 22 from Clarks on the way. Will it fit?? I'm keeping my fingers crossed
  13. What's the best position to have the stem when removing...1st winding, 2nd date set or 3rd hour set? I remember reading one of them is the best and won't screw up the keyless works...(on the ETA's of course!) Thanks guys!!
  14. I've got a nice MBW 1665 (Great White) I've done no mods to it and wear it as my daily beater. I've noticed a small crack in the crystal...probably too deep to buff out. What's a good replacement crystal and from who? Please don't say O'Frei...I think that Bob is an ass...
  15. I remember "redbigjoe" and the whole mess you had with him...wonder what ever happened to him. Didn't he also take some shots at The Zigmeister?? I might have the bracelet you seek...I'll check my parts box tonight...if I got it I'll pm you tomorrow.
  16. Freddy, The original Daytona that you experimented on with the graphite treatment...is it still running?

    Trevor

Yes...named two specific virus's. I'm very tec savy and I don't remember them. Nortons said it blocked the intrusion and eliminated the threat...whatever that means?

    Trevor

Just went onto Trevor's site and my Norton's went nuts! All sorts of nasty things tried to invade my computer!! Be careful guys...
  19. I've been looking at U Boat watches and I think I need a break from Rolex...rep and gen. I don't know anything about the black coating used on black watches as I never had an interest in black watches before however the Uboat I'm looking at is black. How good is the black coating (PVD I believe) on rep watches. If it's like the gold plating that wares off after several months of ware I'll go with stainless... Experts please chime in... Cheers!
  20. Beautiful work! These watches are so basic and simple (there in lies the beauty of them)...they should be required wearing for ALL watch nuts!! Enjoy them and be proud of your work!
  21. Watch god's suck! What is the correct position to be in when depressing the stem release? There are many different opinions regarding this
  22. Really sucks about ETZ...the site was an MBW feast for the eyes. I was in the email stages with ETZ, or should I say lack of email responces stage when I desided not to pull the trigger... Glad you got your money back
  23. I hate the f@#ki%G keyless works If I'm not mistaken...don't they require a small dab of lube? The guys here are correct...pretty straight forward repair...if you have basic skills. If not...

    1665 "guts"

I hear you and I'm not...shame, he was a top notch dealer at one time...who the heck is the MBW go-to person now??
  25. stac

    1665 "guts"

Thanks for the responce The yellow markers really look like crap on the Trusty version. I'm still in the air about ordering from Eurotimz...he has 1665 MBW dials but it sounds like he might be a crap-shoot... Anyone know where to source MBW dials?
