  1. I suggest you spend at least a month reading up on what is available, as there is no quick and easy answer to this.

All reps have flaws. No rep is 100% accurate to genuine.

If you spend time reading the forum, you will learn which are good and which are the best, and you will work out which you like.

Your question sounds like you want a replica so you can pretend it's genuine, which is not really the way the game is played round here ;)

    Nice!

Where from? What's the spec? :)

Today I am wearing PAM 233 - Panerai Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT - gifted to me by an extremely generous member of this forum who shall remain nameless at his request ;)

This link has info on the gen, which I need to read up on! lol

This was a very generous gift as I believe it is on a gen strap :o so I am extremely appreciative of it!!

It has a scrape in the crystal, unfortunately, but I am hopeful that I can source a replacement :)

  3. I am not sure of the best method of posting back to China - perhaps just Royal Mail Special Delivery? With reference on the packet of Watch Parts £20?

I'm not sure anyone apart from EMS offers tracking once it's gone out of the UK, but I don't know how to send EMS from the UK...

I'm sure Mary will be able to find the watch you want if you can send her a picture (or several) with, perhaps, bullet points pointing out the differences to look for :) Nearly all the dealers shop in the same 'factories' so you are choosing the dealer based on the aftercare service and QC! Give Mary a chance and she should get it right, hopefully :) She does try!

  4. I'm not sure anyone is based in CONUS at the moment! but you might be able to get packages forwarded on if you can get a forwarding address set up, or have relatives who would be willing to accept and send parcels on. (I am assuming you have issues with Texas customs!)

Mary (WatchInternational) and Lay (ReplicaMake) offer a good, personal service, but I'm not sure if Lay is recommended on this forum? I know he is a dealer on RWG1.1. Mary guarantees to get a swiss movement if she sells it as swiss, but bear in mind that it may be an older movement saved from another watch, and therefore need servicing.

  5. This is great stuff. Of course Biver is upset, because reps undermine all of the money and effort he is spending to create a "brand", which is itself a fake concept. Our fakes cost less than his fakes.

I'm reading "Masters of Contemporary Watchmaking" right now (fantastic read!), and it's changed my whole perspective on watches in the $20k range (having tried on a $20k ice bang at AD). If I could afford it, I don't think I'd even go with a "historical" company like Patek or VC. There are supremely talented watchmakers today that can build you a beautiful piece of their own design, by hand, with hand tools from start to finish, making every or nearly every piece completely from scratch. Since they have no marketing or "brand" budget, the price of the watch is basically materials plus the watchmaker's time. And of course you get a one-of-a-kind piece.

I'm in love with this piece right now which IMO just *kills* a comparable calatrava

    Nice B)

If I had that money to spend, I think I'd be inclined to go handmade too! :)

  6. It's almost like he's trying to sell a massively expensive, overpriced item that he wants to market as 'unobtainable to mere mortals' and therefore make retain its value in the longer term by proclaiming that you are a bad person if you want it on the cheap.

    Oh, wait... ;)

  7. All the dealers have access to the same stuff so pick your dealer then pick your watch :)

The 03s seem fairly accurately repped as they don't have the lug screws in the back to deal with, and the lume is as bad as the gens  lol You might need to get the crystal AR'd but apart from that and a relume, an ETA version should be pretty accurate :)

  8. I really don't know why we worry about accuracy to gen sometimes - it's things like this that seem to paint Rolex as any typical manufacturer - use what's available till it runs out, even if it overlaps onto a revised model, then repeat the next time round with the next lot of components!

In the end, it seems that pretty much any component could be argued as being factory fitted, simply due to the fact that the factory was so inconsistent over the years!
