  1. Thanks guys... The gen actually adjusts the MAIN hour hand in one hour intervals, not smoothly like most watches.

Not being a Rolex guy (and yes Estaban, it IS small comapred to my main addiction), I am trying to like them so went to the AD for a watch parade :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I never noticed that they adjust like this, which, I think is much more convenient for travelling since you want the normal hands to be set to the time zone you are currently in. With the jumping hour hand, you are just a few clicks away from the right time :victory:

  2. Excellenat excellent reaview By-Tor!!! Two thumbs up for you!!

I had the Tag (grey dial) for a short time, and it really IS a beautiful watch, and a perfect rep... The quality on that is amazing.

I had the genuine SMP Pro chrono, but in titanium... At the time (5 years or more ago), it was too thick to wear with a suit, I was always catching it on my cuffs because it is so thick...

Now that I don't have to wear a suit at work any more, it is back to being a perfect choice for me, and I've been eyeing the genuine at a shop in the city...

This review may tip me over the edge to get the rep and save myself a few thousand bucks! Thanks so much, and say hi to the snow dog for me ;-)

  3. Well, the U1 I've always wanted just arrived today... Just as I thought, it's so ugly that it's beautiful... Also, being a Panerai addict, this is not too big AND not too small for me :thumbsupsmileyanim:

This came on a wonderful rubber strap... Very comfortable and extremely secure, excellent quality deployant and every bit the look and feel of German engineering. :)

The steel used on the 'U' range is made fro German submarine steel, which is made by a special proprietary process that has not been duplicated anywhere... It is then put through what Sinn calls 'tegimenting' which is similar to shot-peening, which hardens the outside surface of the case to several times that of normal steel.

There ain't no scratchin' this baby! Sinn is the epitome manufacturer of tool watches IMO, they churn out real workhorses at an amazing rate, for all types of situations and conditions; From diving very deep (this is rated at 100 bar) to hiking across the polar caps, Sinn has a watch for everything :victory:

The dial is sharply printed, very legible, and crystal clear. The crystal is double AR coated and perfectly flat.

I have to reiterate what others have said... If anyone is looking for a great genuine watch at a very good price, these can be had for about a thousand bucks, and well worth every cent, as some have mentioned on this forum and many others as well. There's several of these on this forum now :thumbsupsmileyanim::thumbsupsmileyanim:

I reckon this would find itself right at home on Nanuq's wrist, and I don't think it would even flinch being dropped off a cliff or driven over by a mere Land Rover!! :yu:

Anyway, please enjoy some shots of this awesome newfound ultimate beater... a watch only a father could love ;)

  4. Just got back from the Panerai event and yes, I wanna buy one...

It's beautiful... Where else can you find a hand wound, eight day watch with a power reserve AND a GMT... OH AND a date!!! Nowhere, nohow, noway, nobody...

Really nice watch albeit is a bit funky... I always like things that are beautifully ugly, sorta like me LOL

    Good to see you Q!

  5. Let me get this right you have a 40's Baume et Mercier which you want to trash to use the movement in a rep!

Can I suggest that you have the watch valued at an AD before you start pulling it apart.

    Ken

B&Ms aren't really worth much as far as I can tell...

They are sold in most mid-upper range jewelery shops in Malls right alongside Raymond Weils, Rados, and Guccis.

Good quality watches, but I wouldn't say significant by any means.
