I have the UPO chrono and UPO sweep second and both are the A- 7750 which according to Ziggy's review may be the best movement out at the moment.. and I agree as it has been running great for some months now... plus the AR coating and sapphire crystal.. for the price i really think it's worth it. (about 268 usd) It depends on what your budget is .. but as I say I think it is a great Rep for the price.. good luck and either way your BF will be happy I'm sure

Try reading the "History" behind the Panerai watch from it's conception and "why" it was conceived, and the evolution of the Panerai watch. Once you appreciate the evolution and rich history of this watch that was started by a luxury clock maker I think you will understand "why" a SS bracelet would be like oil and vinegar .. it just won't mix ... :yucky: your mind set is in the modern esthetics and not the "Tradition" that was laid down by an Italian arstisan and craftsman.. So i urge you to let this time piece take it's "proper" place in the "style and function" that it was meant for.. it does for me represent a part of History. and if that is not enough explanation for you .. Just don't do it... .... (just joking) add on:.. members have inquired about modifying a 24 mm bracelet to fit a 26 mm lugs.. Respectfully , Lanikai

there is a thread from yesterday.. but again, if you are in the USA.. (looks like it)... ACE hardware carries a ton of them .. or ebay add on:.. don't use cape cod on titanium.. it will lighten the metal and shine it because of the petrolium products in the polish

Sadly what we deal with here in Hawaii is the Japan market .. they are willing to pay whatever Waikiki charges.. 15.00 for a hot dog at the hotel.. 5 times the market value for real estate.. a honey dew melon in Japan cost over 100 usd .. they are what caused our cost of living to sky rocket.. it is the same with everything on the internet that is for sale now.. Japan will pay .. our loss..

I would rather send it to Ziggy from the get go and have him service it properly and also with Ziggy you pay a very "fair' price for servicing.. as soon as I can my cousteau is going to him for day date alignment and general service.. since, as his review stated the movement is good the servicing at the factory end is poor..

Charging Luminova on watches (Or whatever makes them glow)
lanikai replied to guanaco's topic in General Discussion
surprise (happily) how good the lumes are on the Omega.. PO's ... I charge it .. I sleep with my watches on for the simple reason that i wake up at 12 am (-5 GMT).. and tend to "rest' my eyes to long sometimes and need to have the time on my wrist all the time... omega PO's hold their lume for a good 4 to 5 hours.. no [censored]..and i just charge it for 30 seconds or so before i hit the lights. SOSF is great also.. along with the IWC cousteau diver .. and of course Ziggy's -

after applying the polish with the cape cod cloth.. "polish" with a eye glass cloth.. don't go over and over with the cape cod... don't wet it if the watch has alot of dust on it don't wipe it with a dry cloth.. rinse the dirt off first.. if you just wipe it with a dry cloth.. the dust between the gold(soft) and cloth will leave fine swirls in the metal which will look terrible in the light.. I notice cape cod cloths at ACE hardware store here in the states
-
I used to gold plate.. and generally plating can be polished once in a while.. but gold "wrap" is very thick and can be polished with the cape cod cloth.. cape cod is just petrolium by-products.. (silicone base) the cloth will show a little black after polishing any metal this is just the oxidation showing.. cape code is not a compound .. just go lightly not with alot of pressure.. when you finish with the cape cod polish with a dry polishing cloth.. sont keep going with the cape code all you want is to get a little polish from the cloth onto the metal for daily use use a soft cloth ( like they use on eye glasses).. or if you are familiar with "dry wash" car polish .. you can use this more frequently .. it the metal has a lot of dust on it and you don't have the dry wash .. never.. never wipe it with a dry cloth .. the dust will scratch the metal especialy the gold as it is softer.. just rinse it under water before using a plain polishing cloth @ vbarrett.. empty your PM.. trying to send.... cape Cod would shine the TI and lighten the TI .. I don't like my Titanium to shine .. if you do use it on TI and want to remove the "shiny" look just get some dish soap and a tooth brush and take of the petrolium by produsts ... I rather have the TI matte .. the cape cod will make the TI more "silver" .. and you cannot "strip TI it is solid Titanium @Ahchard for your golf clubs use chome polish which is like a rubbing compund for chromium and a 000 steelwool ... which you can get at the hardware store ... don't use anything but triple 000 .. it will not scratch the chome but with the chromium polish will remove the rust.. NZ has a lot of salt air like Hawaii.. if the club shafts have spotted rust cape code is more a polish and not a compound .. done it many times on my shafts

what will be interesting is to see what hublot comes out with next and what Mr. Biver's has to say about why the change of bezels if he say's anything at all.. my opinion is he has said too much already

IMOH the maker who is trying to ride the preverbial "coat tail" of the maker of the HBB Big Bang ceramic and score with a higher price is the bad guy.. but if not for that maker we would not see the HBB lite.. so things have a way of working themselves out.. this is a war between makers who are trying to gouge us after we have purchase something of value added .. the dealers are the ones committed to moving the product for the makers Imagine if the ceramic bezel was made in Japan or Europe .. yikes .. but Hublot claims it is.. they are the ones that are the criminals.. but then the rich alway's get richer..
-
Maybe this will help sort things out.. The OEM maker of the ceramic bezel is being sued by Hublot.. (mr. Bevin is going after everyone) .. the OEM maker was under contract with Hublot and was selling the ceramic bezels "back door",.. the "maker" of the Hublot reps was buying the ceramic bezels via back door.. the maker is neither J or A or anyother dealer... although I don't know who brokered the deal with the OEM bezel maker.. Hublot is coming out with a new big Bang model without the ceramic bezel to counter the Reps.. Hublot has cut ties with the OEM bezel maker... deniability .. now he can say they were made in Japan.. among other dis-information.. plus the fact that hublot is suing the ceramics maker. the Maker of the HBB Rep has purchased the last of the ceramic bezels.. and like anything else .. supply and demand , the party that was selling them out the back door raised the price..(by a couple hundred usd) ... Now.. the HBB lite,.. is a result of another "maker" taking the HBB rep and copying it for a cheaper model to sell at high prices.. PVD bezel and mineral crystal and cheap movement .. remember this is not the maker that is making the current big bang.. so to counter the sales of the afore mentioned item.. the current maker is coming out with the HBB lite so the copy cat of the copy cat cannot downgrade the OEM's that were sold .. this may not be making much sense.. but just remember that the HBB lite coming out is so the price cannot be jacked on the sub standard version, by a competing maker .. who is trying to ride the coat tail of the ceramic version we bought..... the decision to produce the HBB lite was soley the makers .. and not the dealers. so am I glad I got my ceramic version last week... FU-K yeah .. as I know everyone else who has one is ... now it does not seem so outrageous... So in closing .. this is not about good guy's or bad guy's .. all it's about is the dirty business of replica watches .. tell me, I don't think one of us who bought a OEM ceramic bezel HBB feels guilty about it.. I don't .. in fact score one for the blue collar guy's .. feels like I just crashed the party in Geneva and had my fill of beluga ... and Mr. Biven pick up the tab.. so now everyone has a choice of waiting for the HBB lite .... or getting the ceramics big bang .. look how much it would cost to fabricate 1 date wheel .. as an example .. if you had the last gallon of water around what could you sell it to a guy that needed it for his radiator to get to an important meeting???

you may want to ask him for the spring bar screws he has sometimes the tubes are too small for his screw.. just to be safe.. and you will like the bars .. you cannot tell they are not the screw in variety.. my sly tech lug holes (i got from DSN) were too big for the generic srews.. his bars work great.
