  1. E, I think you've confused two different movements: There's the Asian 7750, a de-rotored automatic with three working subdials, wide spacing, and used by DW (as well as the cartel in the past). Then there's the Sea-Gull ST-19 aka 'Venus' aka 'Lemania', which is the manual-wind movement you see in the OP. Dials are not interchangeable between the two.
  2. On second thought, maybe calling it an MBW is too specific and too presumptuous of me. The important thing is that it's not a gen. Here's my MBW:
  3. Looks like an MBW crown to me, woof*.
  4. As long as it's done with subtlety and taste. TeeJay: I didn't mean wooden dials, which can be nice. I was referring to "bark finish" whereby Rolex scarifies a case and bracelet until it wouldn't look out of place in Elvis's Jungle Room.
  5. I have to point out that this is an optional step! The only reason I remarked on it in the comparison was because I had never seen a brushed edge on a Daytona bezel before. I have seen many other examples, and I'm pretty sure they had polished edges.
  6. Ditto with my Space-Dweller dial. I didn't put it through that ordeal, but it sure felt "fully baked".
  7. Oh, the things I could buy with that discount... In all seriousness, (Serious face: ) I'm really glad that Zenith has gone back to its roots and killed off its Defy Xtreme line. They were some of the ugliest watches ever made, and an embarrassment to the brand. The only good thing about them was the Amazon comments they inspired!
  8. Jeez! Super enough for you? Superb build!
  9. Neat diver, woof*! (I was more of a Diff'rent Strokes fan, though...) Loving the new strap:
  10. Great job on the bezel! The crystal looks pretty good from here. I don't have any direct experience in replacing the tube, but I'm pretty sure it DW's has threads.
  11. Fantastic! I'll take one of those, one with an OCC, one Super Precision, and a Commando just for kicks!
  12. They are all fake, whether from NDT (aka Natalie's Passion), Yuki, in god, &c. These dials were entirely created in Asia, including -despite the implications of "refinished"- the Singer-stamped blank. The prices alone should give you a hint. $450 may seem expensive for a Newman dial, but the genuine ought to sell for at least $35,000-50,000. As for the quality of NDT, it's hard to generalize. As with DW, Yuki, and the others, some of their dials are excellent, while others are overpriced, inaccurate, crap. On the whole, I've found ingod to have the best quality across their range. That said, I've only really looked at their Explorer and Daytona dials. If it's a 3-color dial, then you should Google "John Mayer dial". Scratch that--there aren't that many results. Try Googling "3CROC". Executive summary: Debatable, but the majority on VRF considers them recent fakes.
  13. Regarding Rolex modifying the Sellita... The weasel words in Invicta's statement are "most likely".
  14. Is it worth a calf's life to create a gorgeous strap? Assolutamente!
  15. Whether in my hand or on my wrist, I couldn't detect any difference between the two.
  16. Beautiful build and great photos, Eton. That rock makes for a great backdrop!
  17. I used to think that the depressions were symptomatic of a refinished dial, but I think you may be right. Check out this picture from 10Past: Under normal lighting, the topography of the dial doesn't look unusual:
  18. My list of the 5 most important cars ever made: 1. Ford Model T 2. Citroen TA 3. VW Beetle 4. Mini Cooper 5. Plymouth Prowler Yep, that makes about as much sense!
  19. Thanks, all! It's always fun to handle and examine these watches, especially with a rep guy's eye for details. You appreciate the quality of the reps we've got now, see where they fall short, and -most dangerous of all- resolve to expand your own collection of gens! C: DW needs to get that done, the 6238 dial that alligoat and I have been anticipating for over a year, and the black 7031 bezel! But from what I've heard, he's concentrating on getting his 16520 kits done. I guess he has to go for the money-maker. woof*: Aside from the better-finished clasp on the genuine 7836, the gen feels exactly the same on my wrist as the DW! I almost walked away with it. Innocently.
  20. Beautiful Diver and sunset, Hike. But dammit, now you've gotten tape all over my monitor! Mm... And great Tudor chronos today. WWW for Sunday:
