  1. Sixxxxxxx! Welcome back buddy! Long time no hear from! Glad to have you back!
  2. Holy Cow TXCollector! Those are really nice!
  3. Hi panerai153 - I used an old Yuki case. Fit the movement like a charm...I hear that they had some issues for while...not sure if they got them resolved or not...I sold the watch a while ago, and bought a Gen 79090 - but it doesn't quite hit the exact spot...close...very close
  4. So I was bored yesterday and did a search for Frankens here on RWG. The problem is there wasn't an easy way to see all the finished ones...so...here's the place. Post your past and present collection of Franken builds here: Omega Planet Ocean 42mm(Gen Crystal, Dial, Hands, Bezel, Caseback, and Bracelet): Omega SM300 (All Gen): Rolex 1680 (Gen Dial, Hands, Movement, Crown, Tube, Insert and Bracelet - eventually Gen Bezel, pics at bottom): IWC 3717 (Gen Case Set and Dial, Swiss 7750):
  5. Here's another vote for the seiko. Great watch, bulletproof, waterproof, killer Lume, and customizable if he ever decides to get into modding. Definitely go for the mechanical version. Buy him an extra bracelet or strap. The alphas are too much of a "fake" fake rolex to me. Homage or not...go with the seiko. It's something different.
  6. ...yes quite ingenious. Leaps and bounds above the standard case clamp method...
  7. I had a similar conversation with Ubi and was told the same thing. It's so true. Putting a dial and hands and adjusting a Rolex is amazing. Everything just fits - no struggling...I have to admit, working on my Tudor was similar, but not quite as exacting...
  8. Not a new picture...but I really love the color of this insert - it looks black almost all the time, until the light hits it just right and you can see the Grayish Blue hues...
  9. Thanks! Have to admit, your 9401 is what got me into the hunt for a Tudor...I just really like watches with dates, so I got this one...although, I did almost build a Franken 9401 - I even had a new Gen Service dial! Thanks! Can't go wrong with the Tudors...
  10. Glad it arrived safe and sound. It's always very exciting to get a package like that. Looks like you and Red got to experience it on the same day!
  11. Wow red! How does it feel to finally have it completed and on the wrist?
  12. What locking pin are you talking about?
  13. Thanks Chief! I'm probably not going to go the gen route, unless I stumble across a really good deal! Thanks! Keep looking, I hear parts may start to free up again soon...
  14. It ought to be. It's brand new in every way except for the movement.
  15. Yeah. Original movement is an Omega 565. Luckily omega built millions of them...literally. You can get them out of a mid to late 60's Omega pretty cheap. Mine ended up almost free after selling the left over parts from the donor. Agreed
  16. ...yup - you may should probably have it serviced once you get it, but after that it'll be problem free!
  17. Sorry Cromag - this one is sticking the stable for a while
  18. Thanks Woof! @red - I love the dial too! I kinda wish It had more text like the 1680 Subs, but it still is great with the multi-triangle design...
