  1. Its a pretty hit or miss proposition if you get one from him. Years ago, I bought 3 and from those 3 was able to piece together 1 working watch.
  2. Seriously. If I could do this, I would. I am not worthy! PM me if you ever decide to sell it or ever are able to build another one.
  3. If anyone has another stem I would be extremely grateful
  4. Well, Looks like its not a screaming deal just a decent one. Still a pretty cool watch to wear around for awhile.
  5. I"m pretty sure its the 40mm one (as the hands on the 44mm one are different) so that might explain the thin Crown?
  6. I paid $3,800. So its a gamble. I do have recourse if its not real though. Just curious as the caseback engraving looks really good and so does the crystal and the dial printing. The CP looks perfectly flush and the date mag looks gen too. I guess I didn't notice the Crown being thin.....
  7. So I bought this watch based off these pictures and while everything to me looks good curious what everyone else thinks.
  8. Its a gen ladies watch. Its just overpriced
  9. I'm crushed about the 6538, Now I have to figure out what I want to do....
  10. This is blackmail.... so weird....
  11. Thanks for all the input guys, I was really curious as I know fat fonts do command a premium, but this to me seemed ridiculous. Would have much rather heard about some story about a super rare variant of the pepsi insert, but instead its just crazy bidders.
  12. and seriously, the reason I started spending more time on this forum was because people were helpful, patient and nice here. guess not....
  13. Instead of answering my question you give a snarky response? So how about a follow up question, does it have to do with the red backing? is that more rare than the blue backing?
  14. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rolex-GMT-Master-1675-Used-Faded-Bezel-Insert-37-60-mm-No-Reserve-/140983311465?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item20d3429c69 I am obviously missing something......
  15. I wish I had the space for a watch workstation If one were to start screwing around with movements where would you start? on a manual wind or a standard Asian 2824/2836
  16. you still selling that extra dial?
  17. I'd like to hear about someone in the LA area that does work. I just bought a starter repair kit and am going to start trying to repair my own stuff.
  18. wait, I'm confused. I thought we had the option of shutting off avatars if we are offended/don't want to see them. So we have a solution to the problem that already exists and is implemented, yet we are still discussing it? Seems like a thread that should never have started in the first place IMO.
  19. I own gens as over the past 10 years they have appreciated in value, some tremendously. I own reps for the fun of it, to try out watches I would never wind up buying the gen of, sometimes the rep leads to the gen purchase, other times it leaves me pining even more for the gen (Dewitt Academia). Until you hold a MSRP 10-20k watch and wear it every day you will not understand the difference. It is there. I have owned tons of frankens and reps and when it comes down to it a Gen is a Gen. Everything just feels right and works right. The sound and tactile feeling of the crown being wound or the smoothness of the bracelet, or the way the dial catches the light, or the crispness of the printing, a Gen is a Gen. That said you can build frankens that really go a long way to fix the differences to a point where its not so bad. That is kind of the route I'm starting to go on. I have my gen watches that I enjoy and with my extra money I will screw around with reps/frankens.
  20. Some guy pitch shifted Pharrell's voice and added MJ noises and IMO its a WAY better song
  21. I know this sounds really dumb, but it has worked EVERY time for me. Write her a really well thought out letter about how she makes you feel, I mean spend a ton of time on it and don't be cheezy, be real. Take her out to a nice dinner, share a couple bottles of wine and while you are waiting for dessert, give her the letter. Commence tears and unbelievable sexy time when you get home. She'll never forget it.
  22. 1: Thanks 2: Its funny all watch forums make fun of my hairy arms but its super fine blonde hair so you would never notice in real life. But put a close up camera on it and it looks like a forest....
  23. Depends on the number of good deals I can find on gen watches, but I have a 10 pillow watch box, 2 watches that will never get sold, and 2 wifey watches. So I try and keep it to a max of 6.
