As has been said already, once you wear one you will understand. IMO start out with the classic design either a 111 or a 001 or my personal fav 036. Although you can't go wrong with a 196 on carbon (just read up a bit on the 7750 movement before you pull the trigger or just get one with the 7753)

I wear mine into AD's all the time Also I'm assuming when you are using the word "you" in this paragraph you are really saying that's how you feel and not making a generalized statement about others. Again I love to wear my reps and tell people about the watch, quality, price, etc. I even start to talk about the "flaws" (which pretty much anyone who isn't a WIS would never have even noticed) and how they can be modded/fixed.

The way I see it anyone with $4k can walk into a Rolex/Panerai/Omega etc. AD and buy a gen. There's nothing to it. When it comes to reps you really have to do your homework and up your education to make sure you are not getting screwed. It really turns into a search for knowledge as opposed to a search for the nearest AD. Besides especially with Rolex even if you have a gen many people will still ask/think that it's not real and the conversations with those people after you tell them it's a rep are much more fun than if it was gen.
