  1. Happy Birthday JayKay8901!

  2. Hi there guys I am also looking for replacement spring bars for my DSSD - the factory USED to put these really fat spring bars in the DSSD's, but it seems they ran out, or fitting them became too much of a pain. Because my DSSD has much thinner spring bars:( That makes the SEL pull away from the watch case at times, because the SEL is moving abour on the spring bar, which is not fat enough! It irritates me SO!! So could someone please clarify: What is the size spring bar I need for the Noobfactory DSSD (BK DSSD)?? Is it 20mm length, 2.5mm thick?? Is it a [censored] to replace??
  3. Because of this STUNNING pictorial by Lanikai, I've ordered myself this watch... thanks Lani!! It's truly a stunning rep - I can't say that I've seen the gen IRL, as they really are few and far between. I opted for the Swiss ETA movement, as my watchmaker won't work on the Asian movements. The biggest flaw I have on this watch is that the date-wheel is sunken! If you look through the cyclops at an angle, you can see the edges of the datewheel. The DAY-wheel is fine, though. Date- and Day-wheel changeover is quick-change at midnight... very good! The finish on the watch case, dial, and bracelet is truly remarkable. I LOVE it. It's a refined kinda bling... what with the fluted bezel. Sparkles like a diamond... The hidden clasp is great, and the inner clasp and rear of the case have all the correct engravings and hallmarks. Obviously, this watch is meant to be made out of SOLID WHITE GOLD, so it's other big flaw would be the weight. But unless someone in the know takes it off your arm and feels it's lower weight, you're fine. The crown could also fit a little better - screw down closer to the case, if you know what I mean. But at least it has the correct markings, 2 dots for white gold. It's such a good rep that my little ol' Swiss watchmaker man has asked me to order one for HIM!! BTW, any reason why the date-wheel is recessed? Would it be because of the clearance needed for the DAY-wheel?
  4. There are DEFINITE gaps between the SEL link and the first bracelet link. Please note, I'm not refering to how the SEL fits between the lugs - that's FINE! I've NO CAMERA whatsoever, so I can't take a decent pic at all... plus my GMT-IIc is in for a full service (it was gunked up at delivery...) I CAN refer to BY-TOR's review of this watch, and the pics of the comparison between the GEN and REP done by Dan on Repgeek here Look at the wrist shots: The gen bracelet curves correctly off his wrist, the SEL and subsequent bracelet links all evenly spaced. The rep bracelet hangs so that you can see a BIG gap between the SEL link and the first bracelet link. It means that, when on your wrist, you see the top of the first link, not the progressive, evenly spaced curve of the bracelet... if you know what I mean!? Look at this pic from BY-TOR's review: The gap is EASILY seen here... it is SUCH a significant difference to the way ANY Rolex bracelet falls, and obviously NOT the way the gen does. I'm REALLY hoping that this new 316F version from Josh has had this SEL-to-FIRST-LINK thing sorted out... I love my GMT-IIc(I'm servicing it as proof, aren't I?!)- but sadly this gap really BUGS me, and I'd LOVE to fix it somehow... I'd really appreciate any comments on this..! (sorry if I'm being pedantic... I just think this is more obvious than even the REHAUT engraving!)
  5. Does this 'new' version from Josh correct the problem with those big gaps between the SEL and the first link of the bracelet?? I have 316L ICHS ETA version from Josh, and while I really like the watch, the BIG GAP between the SEL and the first link is SUCH a big flaw to me... I find it strange that no one seems to comment on this?! Yes, the rehaut engraving is wrong, as it is on MOST of the Rolex reps, and yes, the hand stack is not right. But both of these things aren't readily apparent to anyone besides the AD, a good watchmaker, or a Rolex afficionado. Any comments on these gaps?
  6. @noneone: I have the ETA-2836-2 version from Josh, and am absolutely thrilled with it. It has VERY few flaws. Many people are concerned that the crystal is not sapphire. The water drop test DOES NOT WORK on this crystal. I will put my money on the fact that it IS sapphire, merely that whatever treatment has been applied to the crystal changes the cohesive forces of the material. Mineral crystal normally sounds different to sapphire if you tap on it... SO while the green crystal is not EXACTLY like the gen's (which even ROLEX battled to manufacture) it is truly stunning. I don't know if the AR treatment is on both sides, but it works well. The only thing I don't like about the crystal is that it picks up smudges really easily. I keep having to clean it!! The gen DOES NOT have a micro-etched crown - the ONLY Rolex not to have one. So the rep crystals are correct in NOT having the etching! Note this technical sheet on the gen: Also, my ETA movement runs within COSC specs, which is great! If there was ONE flaw to fix, it would be the rehaut engraving. Other than that, it is practically perfect. (for a rep, that is!) @lanikai: Thank you for this EXCELLENT pictorial - it's the reason I ordered this rep!!
