  1. I love "asian 21J" reps, who has the best one of these?
  2. I'm not so sure about the contacting the dealer for a new piece suggestion. . . I have an AWESOME Planet Ocean from Silix that I've been wearing for close to a couple of years now, and it is still awesome. Unfortunately, the only thing un-awesome about this one is that the pearl is not very securely fastened to the bezel insert, and I lost it. Silix, being the top notch seller, immediately sent me a new insert. The problem is that it is pretty apparent to me that I'll just lose this pearl too. It's in the design of the pearl and insert, they just aren't held securely, and are kind of made to fall out. . . . That's why I suggested an alternative approach. I'm not sure though that the alternative approach I suggested is the best one though! Oh, by the way Edgematic, LOVE the avatar! ! ! !
  3. I've seen a pretty good looking insert on eBay for something like $44. However, I didn't buy one yet, so I really can't comment on whether it lives up to its billing. Good feedback on the seller if I recall though. Okay, here's the item on eBay I think: http://cgi.ebay.com/BEZEL-INSERT-BLACK-FOR...%3A1|240%3A1318

Has anyone purchased from this collector?
  5. Thanks Victoria! You gave me so much to look at, I haven't really had time to get through it all even yet! As for the Rolex suggestion, yeah, that would probably be a good way to go, other than for the fact that my wife really thinks any Rolex she sees is a replica or a cheap fake, and she thinks everyone else feels the same. So, I don't think she'd wear it. I'll find some time to look through the links you provided, and then maybe I'll have more questions. Thanks for the help so far! ! ! (mon copain!)
  6. This is an interesting thread, since I'm always looking for something for my wife. I kind of like the Hermes double tour, and I DEFINITELY like the Cartier above, but for the most part I'm having trouble. . . My wife seems to like an automatic watch, but I suppose it wouldn't matter if the watch didn't have a second hand. Also, she likes to have the date visible. Most of the decent looking women's watches seem to be quartz, and the rest are pretty ugly, or I'm just not finding the right ones. Can anyone post up some links for some of the classic reps named above? If it matters, I prefer Silix, but I'm happy to look at watches wherever they are available. Thanks in advance! Oh, by the way, does anyone have any experience with, or thoughts about this one?: http://www.watchsilix.com/product.asp?id=1821
  7. Ummmm. . . Sql_pl, I just noticed how hot your avatar is. . . Gotta go take it out on the wife now! Hah hah. . . Thanks for the good discussion of watches and racing guys!
  8. Really though, between unchecked engine braking trying to spin the cars entering the corners, unchecked horsepower trying to spin the cars exiting the corners, and front suspensions and brake discs that just spontaneously disintegrate, they really do seem to be using drivers more this year than last! Yeah By-Tor, a beautiful race by Kimi. I just wish he wasn't at Ferrari, because he is the polar opposite of their cry-baby, "pot calling the kettle black" mentality. Where are Ross Brawn and Michael Schu when you need them? Anyway, I realize after I wrote that passage that there are probably more vehement Ferrari fans across the globe than any other team has, so I apologize if it was too inflamatory! It's just racing chatter, I swear! ! ! Thanks!

This is the first watch in a while I've been pretty interested in. . . I think I might be able to count myself on the list, I'm just not sure about the size. I kind of like a substantially sized watch, even though my wrist isn't huge. It's just a preference thing I guess. By the way, I also like this: http://www.kingshowbox.com/gallery.php?id=599&img=7750 I don't know anything about IWCs though, so I don't even know what to call it! Hah hah. . .
  10. You mean Robert was wearing quartz?!?!? He seems more raw than that. . . I've got to say that the new TAG looks pretty good on TV. I liked it better than I have in pictures. Think a GOOD rep will be forthcoming? I'm a little concerned that it might be a bit elaborate for a really good rep. My best reps have been the simplest watches, but I recognize that others have had luck even with Asia 7750s, where I on the other hand have not. But that's another thread! Hah hah. . .
  11. I have dealt with Jay extensively over the past year or so after being badly burnt by one of the higher profile "lightning fast" responding dealers mentioned in this thread. It is absolutely true that it sometimes takes Silix a day or several to respond, but the difference is that he truly does stand behind what he sells you. In reps there are going to be problems--it's the nature of the beast. Silix absolutely works with you to rectify the problem in a very fair manner, while at least one of the other guys responds super fast (and has a fantastic website with great pictures), but blames every problem on the buyer, and does his best to not fix any problems he says he will while having you repeatedly ship the damn watch back to China over and over again. Be patient and use Silix, you'll be happy in the end. Be in a hurry and use one of the other guys. . . . You'll be happy if you're lucky enough to get a perfect watch. Otherwise, there is a very real chance you will end up highly dissatisfied with the experience. That's my experience.
  12. With a slightly different crew on the podium, I was wondering if people recognized what watches Raikkonen and Kubica were wearing?
  13. I got my white dial XL from Silix, and it is one of my favorites! ! ! The rotor was initially quite loud though, so I packed a little grease into the bearing and voila! Perfect ever since. What I would really like though, is a good AR crystal without the magnifying bubble. I know it wouldn't be right, but I would like it even better. It's really a great watch, and Silix is the most honest dealer in the long run that I have dealt with, even when problems crop up. Getting one of the others who has been mentioned in this thread to actually rectify things is like pulling teeth. He sure takes good pictures though, and his website is second to none, which is probably why he sells so many watches. . . . Silix is my suggestion.
  14. That is excellent! Just in case some of us might not happen across it on our own, do you think you might be able to reply to this thread with the link to your new one? Thanks!
  15. I had this problem with my Asian 21j Chopard also--posted on here about it. I used a little applicator that came in a value pack of grease and oils and such to apply a tiny amount of watch grease at a time to the bearing, until I finally got it sounding pretty nice. That thing was horrendously loud at first though, I actually had to apologize for it one time. . . . .
