  1. I haven''t taken out the Dremmel yet. What kind of grinding / polishung wheel did you use.
  2. The clasp issue is with a Pam deployment clasp and the case issue is on a couple of Rolex DSSD and GMT that I have.
  3. I have a couple of really good reps that I love to wear except the case and sometimes the strap or clasp have sharp edges from the manufacturing process. I don't mean that there is an edge that will cut you just that the angle is very defined and after a few hours on my wrist it starts to irritate me. My gens are somehow smoothed or mico-chamfered to avoid this. I have tried a small fine file but it seems very slow and ineffective. I was wondering if others had come across this and how they have smoothed these areas. Thanks, Woody99
  4. I have a cheap Pam Marina Miltare and the stem broke right at the crown. I can still get the rest of the stem out, wind and set the watch etc. but now I need a replacement crown and stem. The crown is about 10 mm in diameter and two mm thick. Anybody know where I can get this setup? I am not in a hurry so regular post from anywhere would be ok. Thanks guys.
  5. I bought two watches and all went well. Recently I sent an email just inquiring about buying another watch. No response. So he is not responding to my email about buying which I think might mean he is away or not in touch right now. Will have to wait and see.
  6. I just got my DSSD back from the Zigmiester. He relumed the dial, hands and pearl, sealed the HE valve and presuure tested for me. Reading the post above I though he was reading my past. Anyways, the lume is outstanding and I haven't put under water but I am sure for short dunks it will be ok. I would suggest this treatment to anyone with a good rep to take it to the next level at really minimal expense. Enjoy....
  7. I recieved my V5 DSSD from Trevor earlier this week. Shipping was fast and the watches (I got a Gucci for my girlfriend) both arrived safe and sound. The DSSD was very impressive from the dial down to the strap. I have sent it out to the Zigmeister for Lume and seal check etc. I love the watch and feel it is excellant value for a rep. Thanks Trevor.
  8. I get lost sometimes. Which site does Trevor work. I am considering a DSSD and this one looks nice.
  9. It looks great with the mesh. Where does one source a 5 mm mesh for $60? I would consider ordering one....
  10. Great cars everyone. In the summer my 1990 325i Cabriolet is nice. For more sporting fun the 1987 928 S4 is my choice for the day And finally my winter car is a 2006 E500 4Matic (AWD) So all three look like this.... So thats what I drive...
  11. I agree, its a great looking combo. Wear it well.
  12. I may be going to Tailand this winter so I really appreciated the info as well. Thanks everyone. Woody99
  13. Seems to be working well and much faster for me Appreciate the efforts in the background to kepp the site running smoothly.
  14. I have seen it work but usually so far behind that once the number shows some info the item is almost at your door. So it does work just a week or two behind actual life....
  15. The watch looks great. I am curious if you started out with the most expensive rep (typically about $300) or the entry level (typically $100) before you added the gen parts. With all the exterior mods it seems all that is left of the rep is the case and movement, oh and the bezel I guess.
  16. Cool picture / editing. Great show and great collection.
  17. I have brought reps into and new out of Italy and Egypt via NYC onto Canda and have never had a problem at US or Canada customs. I have a 5 watch roll and take: Omega SMP (gen) Rado Ceramica (dressy) Submariner (rep) Orient Diver (beach) Tag Bently (rep) Woody99
  18. Verrry Interesting

  19. The first "nice" watch I ever bought was an Orient automatic. Both my brother and I bought them and wore them as daily watches for many years. That was 37 years ago! I still have both and they are working just fine. (regular servicing of course) So no matter what you may think, an automatic watch that lasts over 30 years with regular wear is a well made. Can't post an pics as I am in Miami and these watches are back in Alberta. Glad to see yours as it looks great. Woody
  20. So would an ETA 2836-2 with gold be assembled in asia And hence less quality then a swiss assembled 2836-2 (nickle plated)?
  21. Can you PM me with his email? I could not find him in the members list. Thanks, Woody
