rbj69 replied to Pugwash's topic in General Discussion
LMAO , here all along i thought u guys bought the 1:1 bullshiat i have only seen one 1:1 watch and that is called genuine , now i have seen some lately coming out that r much closer to 1:1 but always there is something to be found that iritates the [censored] out of me and others oh well at least we have some that we can live with and still make us come back for more HUH? very ballsy and good topic MR. Puggy joe -

those lines on the sides of the links r much more deeper brushed and however i never tried but i doubt a cape cod will get them completely out, i basically use a wheel that puts a satin finish on it which makes finer lines and takes out the deeper lines and then i use a buffing wheel severl abrasive compounds then white then red rouge , sometimes i still have to do it again and again till it is right if u dont have these wheels i suggest u use 600 grit sandpaper first then use a 1000 grit and maybe a 1600 after that then use the cloth wheel and install on a bench grinder and use the white and then red and should give u the same results just u have to use a bit more elbow than the other way i do it , i dont like a dremel for polishing cause it seems they always haze up the metal or leave streaks and that can be just as time consuming to get rid of imho hope this helps joe

THE FEMA GENIE A modern day cowboy has spent many days crossing the Texas plains without water. His horse has already died of thirst. He's crawling through the sand, certain that he has breathed his last breath, when all of a sudden he sees an object sticking out of the sand several yards ahead of him. He crawls to the object, pulls it out of the sand, and discovers what looks to be an old briefcase. He opens it and out pops a genie. But this is no ordinary genie. She is wearing a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) ID badge and a dull gray dress. There's a calculator in her pocketbook. She has a pencil tucked behind one ear. "Well, cowboy," says the genie... "You know how I work....You have three wishes." "I'm not falling for this." said the cowboy... "I'm not going to trust a FEMA genie." "What do you have to lose? You've got no transportation, and it looks like you're a goner anyway!" The cowboy thinks about this for a minute, and decides that the genie is right. "OK!, I wish I were in a lush oasis with plenty of food and drink." ***POOF*** The cowboy finds himself in the most beautiful oasis he has ever seen, and he is surrounded with jugs of wine and platters of delicacies. "OK, cowpoke, what's your second wish." "My second wish is that I was rich beyond my wildest dreams." ***POOF*** The cowboy finds himself surrounded by treasure chests filled with rare gold coins and precious gems. "OK, cowpuncher, you have just one more wish. Better make it a good one!" After thinking for a few minutes, the cowboy says... "I wish that no matter where I go, beautiful women will want and need me." ***POOF*** He was tuned into a tampon. The moral of the story: If the government offers you anything, there's going to be a string attached.

Well This Is Number 4&5 Of My Growing Collection Of Watchwinders , Lol
rbj69 replied to rbj69's topic in The looney bin
yeah i thought it was a beauty as well (it has three settings so if u have what they call a special movment it has that mode as well , im guessing they mean a flying tourbillon) , and it holds my daily beaters as well, thanks TT joe -
Well i just liked the look of these so picked two of them up , u know a reall watch collector cant have too many watch winders, lmao anyway i bought one off ebay a little of 2 years ago and it is still running strong i believe i gave 60 bucks for it , but the person i bought it from isnt around anymore , too bad cause that one has done well then i bought two from a ebayer named gadgetsbestbuy(u know the ones with the pillows in the holders and plastic window ) about a year ago and both had mechanical problems , one i had to hot wire it , lol and the other i took the motor apart and fixed it , they r still running but i just had to hot wire the one about a couple months ago i guess maybe less now i just bought two this year, (yes it seems i buy a watchwinder every year) but its always because my passion for watches keeps growing and i am a true believer of keeping those self wind watches wound , also im lazy and dont like to keep resetting them , lol so far this one is the best one i own , it cost 79.98 with shipping but to me the look and the quietness is much better than the last two i bought , but equal sounding to the fist one i bought (the only thing is and i guess it will take some breaking in these pilows r expandable so they r tight when u put your watches in place but the quality of the wood , the nice designer felt with gold helmets lingin, the lock and hardware and real glass is by far a bigger bang for your buck (now how long it will last only time will tell) but so far it sounds quiet and works nicely and i do believe it has the same motors as my first one that i bought but cant be sure Hope u enjoy the quick pics!!! (btw i had to buy two cause im expecting a couple more beauties to add again to my collection lol) joe(rbj69)

yeah but i couldnt find a spare board and it was a cheap winder , lol so far so good its been going about a month or so now , no problems so far, i have four winders now so im not too worried , other than that particular one from those guys seems to be the worse one by far , loudest as well , but for now it is running , lol as far as i can tell they run as they did before , just simutaneously now , thats all basically it was just a suggestion instead of tossing it , lol and works fine so far joe
-
same thing happened to me , i beleive it was gadgetsbestbuy is who i bought mine from , so what i did was i shaved off the wires of the good side(so there would be a raw spot all the way around the red and black wire) and spliced the wires of the other side(the one that was using the bad side of the board) by basically cutting the white pusher off and had two raw ends and wrapped around the wires on the other side and put electric tape around it to hold them together and now they both work on one side of the board , lol how long it will last only time will tell , if u dont understand what the hek i did , lol just email me and i will try and help u understand ok joe(rbj69)

all u have to do is for a quickie and peace of mind and for the do it yourselfer , just tighten the case back with some needle nose pliers good and snug but be careful not to slip and then press really firm all the way round the crystal and make sure your he valve and crown r nice and snug , i would say 95% of the time this will do the trick for u , and if u want to make sure send it to someone that does this and have them test it for u , if u cant find anyone or dont understand what i just said email me and i will try and help u joe

basically doing a transformation for another customer , he sent me his genuine watch and asked me to swap it out for him and his stem would not lock properly , so i figured out why , and thought i would share with u what all u have to tear down just to get to the screw that releases and locks down the crown stem , enjoy!!! basically u r looking at a 1570 rolex movment most common in your 1680 vintages that we have come to love , well real rolex lovers do anyway, lol well i dont usually work on movments but i have over time had to , just like this one, mainly its not something i enjoy to do , basically it is a micro puzzle in 3D for me , if i were to do it i feel i would be pretty decent at it and i have taken some movments all apart and put it back together again fairly easily , just tidious is all however this one is a genuine and i really didnt feel like buying my customer/friend a new movment , lol but he said fix it so i am , all im waiting for is the part to come in now but i thought u guys would like to see how different the genuine 1570 movment locking mechanism is and what all it takes to get it out , i believe the professional term is a decanter , i may be spelling it wrong , lol (i know what all the little parts do but i cant tell u the real names of them all basically) lol this pic is of the front of the movment , to me and u it is the back of the movment where the winder is but as i have learned professionals call this the front and what we call the front they call the back, hmmmm i knew i was ass backwards but now im confused, lol oh yeah if u attempt this at home please dont forget to let down your mainspring , also try and keep the screws that came out each areas together with that area , it will make it easier to assemble also just wanted u to see the winder and how different it is compared to those chinese copies that have the pink wheels, basically all the ping wheels u see on genuine r part of the winding wheel as u can see it is all together and is assmebled on top of the movment , but on those eta with painted wheels to basiclaly look similar they r part of the movment and to me that paint will come off eventually and get in your movment so for me why bother ? lol and here is the little bugger that is broken, at the end of it it should have a tiny piece of threads on top but it is gone basically broken off and sitting in the part above (very first picture) that looks like a small arm and it is actually called that decanter name or something like that , lol and yes i have to remove that threaded part so the new little piece can screw into that how it works is when u screw it down it pushed the little arm away and there is a post underneath that closes in between the groove of the crown stem and visa versa when removming , when broken it just spins and does nothing basically , lol hope u enjoyed it and again just felt u might like learning something , lol joe
-
call it a pugsbest , lol(i love pugs btw) in all seriousness, just explain it is of the same quality of marias just not directly from him joe
-
agreed on the numbers need to be fatter but take a look at this genuine and u will see that the trianges should not be centered or closer to center , if anything they could be more inward towards the crystal imho(but maybe im not understanding what u mean by closer to center, if not please pardon my intrustion) genuine exp2 the watch he has is with some flaws but for the money its not bad at all , im thinking it equates to 25 usd ? just observing and giving u my two cents is all joe
-
wow im sry u took offense , i guess since u did i will tell u about the pic im showing u and why , didnt mean to make u angry i was simply just trying to make u see what i saw and we have some fun , but i see u took offense and i apologize basically the hand deal for me is if it is the genuine set of hands that came with the watch the part in the mercedes(Y) will be clearly wider than the others , it is not a big detail but for me i would say those hands on two tones is not genuine just because they look alot like the tudor hands i have worked with , which r better looking to me as well but still not as fat in the mercedes part (i call it the Y part) the only thing that could throw my theory here is , if they r new replacments then they could still be called genuine i suppose , im just used to seeing true genuines in the 70's have the fatter (Y) btw the pic is of my genuine , the only thing that was replaced on it is the pearl and it is genuine just not acrylic , i was told the pearl that was original looked so crappy so they decided to replace it (and also the crystal was replaced as well ) (and only two replacement links were put in the bracelet but i took them off because it fit me perfectly without them , lol ), but it does have an awesome twinlock genuine and all original crown and tube on it , which r not seen around much anymore and many were changed out when sent it for servicing , anyway i will leave u with this and not chime in anymore being u took offense , enjoy and hope u have a happy new year joe oh yeah one more thing , it could be the picture as well, if we had a shot of it from the side and angled it would be more simple to see
-
i just read u say his hands r definitely genuine and was wondering how u came to that conclusion and was showing u a picture of a genuine set of hands for u to compare to and see if u see what i see is all just trying to make it fun for all of us is all joe
-
now do u see a difference between genuine and not hands? r u sure they r genuine hands now? and please im just showing u something and letting u figure it out yourself ok so dont take it as im being mean cause im really not ok joe
-
hmmm < hands r definitely gen.? uh oh could they be gen. tudor hands for eta movment? lol joe
-
agreed !!! even though my head is still pounding i had to finish watching it georgia tech and west virginia was a good one to watch as well joe
-
my clue for u would be see the rust or dirt where the crystal edges r ? what would your conclusion be for this? lol joe
