The gen dial plus a 5517 project gone awry really brought this together.
Thanks to Saabin for the deal on the original NOS T127!

The bottom one today

Go vintage. It's the best way to save money in the long run, because in 10 years they'll be worth more than they are now, whereas the current models will take a big drop as soon as you walk out the door.
I got this '64 GMT for about $1200 less than the going rate, and it's worth maybe 20 times as much as it cost new. Besides, it's *vintage* and we all know there's nothing finer than vintage.
I'm with Nanuq on this one! Even my gen 70's Tudor Sub is selling on average for ~$500 more than it was a year ago.
I'll bet TTK or other members here who live in or frequent Thailand could point you to some good places to shop for gen vintages.
-
Mezz,
Here's a source to try for the insert Gen insert
If you want a more period correct 93150 bracelet, you can see if TTK can get you an MBW version, but I don't know what the cost will be??? The new MBW bracelets (at least the one on my 1665 from this May) are the best I've seen and have correct end links without the springbar cutouts.
If TTK can't help you Josh usually sells the 93150 fliplock separately for about $45.
Happy hunting!

count me in too!

Hi P.
I think a 6542 and it looks like it's been redialed already.
Unfortunately I have no advice on a safe way to clean it.
-
Predfan,
Here's an option for you, I know this is a date model dial but it is a gen Tudor and a deal.
-
hi all,
i was wondering what the average price for a full (93150 clasp, 580 endlinks ) 78360 bracelet is these days. i remember when they where around $600 . $800+ is what i am seeing now - and it seems steep- . does anyone know ?
cheers,
ragsy
Ragsy,
You can still find some between $450-$600 on Timezone, but you have to check often and move quick because they go fast. One the Bay the $600-$800 is about the range.
Good luck!

AH! Perhaps you meant:

Victoria, that is most definitely what I meant. That's my chubster of an 8 month old.

What I'd like to carry daily

Very nice job N. Do you think a little more case aging might balance it out with the patina of the dial?
You might consider a Zeugma Strap like this, or GeF is makes a GPF repro buckle strap -it would complete it.
-
Congrats Nanuq!
The jubilee bracelet couldn't be more at home than on a Pepsi GMT
-
@TMG, she's a beaut but she's still just a Franken.
Very nice Nanuq. You had me there for a minute, with the recent gems you've acquired lately...
-
Nanuq strikes again!
I think we have another gen added to the lineup I can't wait to see the flip side.

Gio,
It sounds like you've got a good itineray going for London. I'm not sure if you're a cigar smoker but I can't think of a better way to compliment a great meal, than to follow it up with some Cubans. Desmond Sautters (on Mount Street) humidor has a wonderful selection of the best Cuban smokes.
A custom pair of shoes or boots from Lobb mght be a nice treat too
I've only done the touristy things in Paris, so no advice for you there.
Have a nice time!

After posting the thread asking for help on finding the perfect strap for the new 177H I'm now searching for a genuine Titanium buckle for the strap. All the sites I've been visiting offer polished or brushed SS or PVD buckles, but up till now I did not find any in TI... Who can help me out?
Erwinner,
Davidsen sells a pretty nice logo/branded pre-v style.
-
Today, an actual wrist shot and not a stock photo
-
Doc, ask time_holder on the bay ~$100, he'll usually sell them separately from the bezel assembly. I believe they are gen, if his complete inserts aren't they're the best I've seen and have a gen pearl.
-
Nice Laz, keep us posted on the progress.
Tribal, those are the end links that seem to come on MBK/MBW (whatver you want to call them) now.

I'm lovin' this strap so it's getting more wrist time, one of these days I'm going to have the bezel lumidot fixed
-
Andrew,
It is most likely 1950's, looks like a 6600 series case, which takes a 20mm bracelet but don't quote me on that -I'm no expert. I've see them sell between $600-$900. If you're getting or got a better deal than that it may be worth it for the bracelet alone depending on the condition.
It's an attractive watch either way, great dial color.
Here's my 50's 6614 with 1020 movement, it looks very close.
-
Predfan,
They look good, and miles from where they were. The one rule about vintage Rolex is -there are no rules.
-
Affordable ?
Well, for sure more than a genuine 1665 but when I look at my budget & projects these days, I should wait for another year
Well affordable is a relative term I should have said more affordable than a 5513.
They keep going up, I've noticed Tudor Subs are selling on average for ~$300-$500 more than they were a year ago.
My next projects coming together

Hi DD,
Using a 2846 slow beat I have sitting around and some aged Clarks Tudor Sub hands, I think they look better than the MBK hands.
