  1. Anyone ever been able to do a gen/rep comparison, and is it worth shelling out the extra money for a gen? Will a deployment fit any of the straps with 18mm buckle? Anyone have a rep that they would be willing to part with?
  2. I doubt that will take away any of your enjoyment I can't stand waiting....
  3. Just got word from JMB that my new 1016 was finished... He sent me a few pics to tide me over while it's in transit, but actually I think they made me more anxious than anything else. Looks exquisite! A big thanks to Mr. JMB who is really a pleasure to deal with and would proactively keep me updated every step of the way. More pix on arrival... JMB Case with Custom Bezel Yuki Dial Gen Crown Clark Tube Clark T21 Crystal Cartel 7836 Bracelet WSO 580 End Links ETA 2824 (Date detent removed via 2801-2 Set Lever, Hack Lever Removed) JMB's fine work on putting this thing together.
  4. That's a cool tidbit of knowledge. Did you use this mod yourself? Any downside? JMB mentioned that "With the "bumps" filed off the set lever there is nothing to positively hold the stem in the winding or time set positions so it makes winding or setting the time tricky until a technique is developed." Wondering if the 445 part would resolve this too.
  5. In bulding up a watch that doesn't have a date function (Explorer) would it be wise to remove the date function from an ETA 2824? Also, what are the options for doing so and would it impact reliability in any way?
  6. For only $165! (Bracelet extra of course.)
  7. They're there, I promise! In the watch case wrapped in soft fuzzy stuff. The 580s I got off of ebay. The "580" stampings aren't great but they do fit gen springbars. That's very nice of you, thanks. Do your 455s have the access holes on the bottom side or are they gen like? I know how you feel. Now that I have everything packed up and ready to ship to JMB, I totally have ants in my pants.
  8. Just wating on endlinks... I've never found holding a bag of parts so satisfying... JMB Custom Bezel JMB DJ Case Gen Crown Clark T22 Swiss ETA 2824 Yuki Dial Rep 7836 Rep 7206 Waiting on 580 end links wholesaleoutlet990 Then it's off to JMB for final assembly...
  9. Here is a non-cartel dial that I'm thinking of buying... http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/8844/img0070xu.jpg The non-cartel is $100 more, just wondering if it was worth the price difference...
