I was told by someone they thought the saw the black dial on one the rep,forums maybe a year ago....who knows.

I'm not a vintage guy, but I agree with this. My first thought was this is a $4k 42mm Helson Sharkdiver. Maybe worth half the retail, but seriously.

Is a franken watch a one owner watch that the same guy takes to the same jeweler for 30 years to get tuned up every few years? If Rolex puts on a service dial or xtal or bezel insert, or it's a combo you never saw, I guess that makes it Franken. Sometimes we can be "too smart by half." Tthat said I passed along a couple of the longer posts and they were both amazed by the depth of knowledge. Still not for sale for those that PMed offers.

Dont think they'll be "better pics", I was just curious as to what Daytona we were talking about when my boss mentioned it so he snapped a pic. He's not selling it, he doesn't even have it yet, Dad still does. I imagine anything you experts think is "funky" is a result of service over the years.This is a one owner, very carefuly maintained by a well to do guy watch.

Thanks for that Freddy. I was strictly thinking since the other one had it done that it was a mod that "should" be done, like shaving the CGs on a vintage. There's obviously not nearly as much info on modding these. Leave it alone it is. You're right, it looks fine.

So I bought the famous White Dialed Ziggified Daytona which has a saphire crystal. That one's going to get a gen crown and be pretty much done, but i also have a black dial that I'm going to put a gen crown on as well as service and get the bracelet loosened up a bit. I did a quick light aging on it this morning to make it look like a 10 year old daily wearer. The bright sun makes it look more worn than it does in person. I'm actually really happy how it came out. I can always cape cod it backwards if i want. Question is can someone point me to the correct replacement saphire crystal, not OEM or anything, I can get put on in while it's at the watchmaker. thanks in advance Bill

This is now owned by moi truely and when I send it out to get the gen crown and tube installed and CGs done we will know.

Freddy, good to here that. I'm doing exactly that to a black dial now. Gen crown and tube, PBdad going to do the CGs and have the movement serviced. How often, and where, do you see a bezel pop up??
