  1. Just finished a major overhaul of my 6152/1 build this morning (originally built in January).  The Arnex movement I had wasn't keeping good time, so I decided to swap in a Hamilton I hadn't used yet, and I just bought another Hammy for the gold hands!  Meanwhile, I had a spare movement holder I sanded to fit the 917, and ordered upgraded parts from NW.  Since the hands are in good condition, I left the watch to look NOS (still shiny).  The only possible future plans would be adding a plexi, doing a little reshaping, and maybe engravings.  I'm also thinking of ordering a new Malio strap, but can't decide which one!

On to the specs and photos!

    - Jackson "new" 6152/1 case
    - Southy dial
    - 1939 Hamilton 917 (serviced by Neuhausen) with original 18k hands
    - NW brass tube & crown
    - NW crown guard
    - NW display back
    - Donerix vintage horse saddle strap w/ modified buckle (for now)

  2. Good eye! Actually the dial is painted to look like paint has worn from age, but you are right that the hands are too low. The canon pinion is pretty short on this Molnija, and just recently the hour hand started rubbing against the dial, and now the hour hand is off from the minute. I plan to fix this soon!

Great pic, but it looks like your hands (especially the hour hand) are rubbing against the dial because they are installed too low on the pinion. Eventually, if you do not have them reset higher, they will remove all the paint.  There is little you can do about the paint that has already been rubbed off, but at least you can stop additional loss.

  3. After a couple months of collecting parts and getting everything to fit together, I present my latest build: 201/a. This is my first Pre-V build, and although I have some future upgrades planned, I think it looks great as it is now. I have two straps for it, a black Dirk, and a brown Orloff (both fantastic straps). This is already one of my favorite watches! Here are the specs:

    - 111J case

    - Goin Pre-V CG

    - T48 crown

    - FGD dial (lightly lumed)

    - Helenarou Pre-V hands

    - DSN caseback

    - Swiss low-beat 6497

    - No-AR Sapphire Crystal

    - Dirk black strap (also Orloff brown)
