  1. Confusingly, no. TC are not Tiger Concepts. TC was a watch sold by a person whose initials were TC, and he had the unique position of saying that people who got a watch from him weren't customers, they were like-minded watch fans, that he was really only pursuing figuring out how to build the very best watch that he could, which is why people liked them and they continue to appreciate in value. They're harder to find now that he's stopped doing it.
  2. Note there are two firms representing one side. No telling yet if the defendant retains two as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Does anyone remember the Filenames? I could look through backups. Sent from my mobile device
  4. Love that dial. Well done! Sent from my mobile device
  5. I made the good decision months ago of buying a dial from whoopy12. The whole experience was good: communication? prompt, answered every question, and really gave me the attention I needed to feel good about purchasing. Shipping? Fast. Service? A real winner. The dial I received at first had some marks on it. Whoop took it back and exchanged it immediately with a dial that is perfection. It's nice when everything goes smoothly, but the mark of an amazing seller is how you recover when there's a question. Whoopy12 is a true gentleman, and I'm pleased to have bought from him. TLDR; would do again, whoopy12 is good people.
  6. The thing I would worry about is height of the different movements. The 3035 and 5035 shared designs and heritage, but I don't know if the height / stem height is different. There were OQ case watches that used a 1570 inside: The 1630 as you mentioned. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-rolex-1630-datejust-oysterquartz-case-1040559.html I see what you mean about the chapter ring, there. The way that ring dips down makes me think that the 1570 is way thinner than the 5035, and the ring takes up the difference in height. It moves the movement away from the crystal so the stem lines up. Do you already have the 3035? Do you already have the OQ case? Or is this information gathering before you sink money in the parts?
  7. Well done, DVNE. Well done. Sent from my mobile device
  8. I so want someone to clone the stilty ring. With shapeways and thingiverse we just need someone to draw it and then we can print all we need. Sent from my mobile device
  9. TLDR; good communication, good person. Having misiekeped work on some projects has been a really good experience. He kept an eye out and contacted me to let me know when Yuki had movements in stock. He sent photos of projects mid-assembly and on the timegrapher. He answered questions many times during his work, and sent updates about how a movement was settling in after a new mainspring. He'll tell you it will take two to three weeks to finish a project based on his current workload (NOTE: this could change, that's just what he said at the time) and then he beats expectations and finishes early. On top of all this, he's very reasonable on price. If you have a project, PM him.
  10. I'd like the Datejust or Milgauss / Explorer. The Sub Story was good reading.
  11. That's very nice. Very, very nice. Sent from my mobile device
  12. I'm excited about the gen winding bridge. That sounds very nice. Sent from my mobile device
  13. Late as ever, but M is an inspiration and his build threads are an excellent place to start an education. Thank you! Sent from my mobile device
  14. awful sub type. Folded links, rusting case, movement keyless is terrible. Crown guard shape is half rounded, half pointed. And yet, it ticks. Sent from my mobile device
  15. Or assign whoever is doing Tudor these days to do their designs as well - Black Bay and Pelagos aren't bad, after all.
  16. This looks gorgeous. The mesh bracelet is excellent. You've had the benefit of having a gen and being able to get the details spot-on. I like it very much.
  17. I like the GMT, but I'm a fan of the big orange hand Explorer II - they gave me what I wanted to see last year. For me, that was the last year's big orange hand watch. I never liked Yachtmaster before, so this one comes as an improvement to me. The day-date filler between the lugs looks weird to me - I'm used to seeing the circle of the case completed between the lugs. Here they have some filler piece of gold to fill the space between case and strap. If I had to choose, I'd take the blue strap and dial - but I'm much more oriented to a stainless DJ anyway. Of the whole collection for this year? GMT is the one that strikes me as most classic, DayDate the most tasteful, Yachtmaster the most modern, and Pearlmaster the most What-Were-They-Thinking.
  18. CURRENTLY SEEKING: affordable steel crown for 16200 (the hybrid 6mm/5.3mm crown). affordable used 1016 / 14270 style Explorer dial. Got one you didn't like enough to use? Let me know! HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED after everyone told me I was nuts to use the Omega 8500C movement: I went a little nuts. I picked up a 16030 and a 16233 case to go with my 1601. Here's what I'm going to do - I'm going to have the 6541 dial in one of them (it fits!) I have a Silver DJ dial ready for the 16030. And want an explorer dial (1016? 14270? --- wherever a decent (or even non-decent) dial comes from. Got a dial that wasn't good enough? Let's talk.) MOVEMENTS: I have a 2836 signed as RADO that needs a service and a 2824-2 in a Croton that needs help (keyless works are screwed up - stem doesn't pull in/out to set) I also have a few of the 2842 Swatch movements. These don't have any holes at all for dial feet, or screw holes for tabs to mount with.
  19. OOPS. I'm so embarrassed. Of course there's more than one Ken in the world.
  20. I have a rep from the same time frame as this - same dial, non-40 years back. My insert was also the wrong font - yours at least got that right. I've seen rep inserts that looked better than either of ours on ebay for about 30 USD.
  21. Ken has left me a message through ebay. Ebay indicated he was away and may not respond. I got the message from him anyway.
  22. I love this - They use a 2824-2 as the movement, but they separate the movement from the hands with a titanium plate. The hands are moved by magnets that work THROUGH the plate. The hands float in a liquid suspension. So, let's see: you've got liquid AND magnets in close proximity to a movement that is the natural enemy of liquid and magnets. I love it.
  23. Where should I look for the 9080 case? Any leads?
  24. You're correct. I like the 6541 without the smooth polished fixed bezel, and not the rotating bezel. I came to like the 6541, learning about it after a friend of mine received a modern 116400GV as a gift. Purchasing a 1601 DJ case seemed like an easy way to get the smooth bezel instead of trying to figure out how to get a smooth bezel to fit on a 6541 or 6538 style case instead of the rotating bezel. Some people here have wisely suggested getting a 1019 dial and using that. I already owned the 6541 dial by that time, and can't find 1019 dials. Yes, this is totally not a replica - no 1580 in iron inner case, not even a 1570 (although I would happily use one if I could find one at a good price at a time when I have money on hand.) It's quite definitely a franken and more what I'd call an homage. At least I'm using a gen case, crown, even if it's for the wrong model. It's my first build - I hope it doesn't offend people here too much. I hope the hobby is big enough to allow people with my sort of taste in watches in the community.
