From what I see, the coin edge on the bezel doesn't have as many teeth, and of course there's the movement inaccuracies. But overall, this looks like a great rep. They even caught the holes on the sides of the chrono pushers!

I vote T3 but it's not the good time to buy that watch it's too small compared to the genuine
57 mm against 61 mm
did somebody know why they did smaller ?
The T3 is (mis)measured in so many ways. AP only has two case sizes for the offshore chronos. The case of the SHAQ is the same as the T3 @ 47/48mm.

This actually looks pretty incredible, except for the fact that its in SS not TI. The cg screws are correct, chrono pushers look pretty good (not quite as rounded as gen), and the crystal looks domed as per gen as well.

I think the biggest flaw in the RG Montoya will be the yellowed/gold colored date wheel that the gen has, in the rep it seems white.
I'm pretty sure the DW is white, but its further recessed which is why all of the DWs on gen ROOs look darker than our reps.
-
The rep subdials are definitely too dark. I had the chance to see one at an AP shop and the subdials are a very light grey, not the darker grey we see on the reps.
-
Incredible. Looks so high quality, especially the carbon fiber work.
-
the only flaw I see is that the date surround should be black not silver

Andrew says the Montoya is coming in a few months....

I want the JPM...supposedly its coming soon.

the volcano is the slightly more accurate rep, but theres no one who could call you out on the black themes and not also know that the volcano is a rep just as easily. Basically, get whichever one you like better. I would go with the black themes because its more versatile. As far as the straps, you can go with AP bands or strapluxe or oracle.
-
I have a nice black shark strap from APBands on my secs @12. It looks incredible, fit on my rep endlinks (although it was difficult to attach), and cost me about 80 bucks.

That blog does controversy-for-hits type articles.
I would bet favourable odds he doesn't own, and has never owned, an AP.

I have the black themes and unfortunately there is NO lume on the numerals, but the problem with the safari dial is that the color of the dial itself is wrong. It should be off white...almost beige, with white/silver subdials. The rep dial is a purer white for sure and the subdials are the same color as the surrounding dial. If you want accuracy, then the black themes dial with a relume is the way to go.

few watches look like monsters on 8.5" wrists
got mine on saturday...youd be surprised on this one...its even bigger than you think. My wrist is 7.5-8 and the watch head pretty much completely covers my wrist top to bottom.

the finishing on the case is not a tell; the finishing on the bracelet is another story.
The only way I can tell at a glance from a foot away is the date. Its a combination of a few things that make it stick out i think. The lack of AR on the little crystal and the fact that the date isnt deep enough. On the gen the datewheel tends to look a bit dark/yellowish. Its one of those things thats drives you crazy, but in the end isnt really as apparent as you'd think.
-
2.: the date is a little recessed on the gen too..
I wonder if the recessed date could be fixed or modded?? It doesnt seem like theres anything in the way.
-
I assume this is a gen. Still wondering if the rep dial is accurate and off white in peson.
well...I havent seen the color of the rep dial either, but from all of the pictures ive seen, there is not sufficient contrast between the subdials and the rest of the dial. Either to subdials will be too dark or the dial will be too light, and in either case the contrast issue remains.
-
Thats definitely a gen. Take a look at the date and how recessed it is - its a bit shallower on the rep. Also, look at the color difference between the subdials, which are white, and the dial, which is beige by comparison. Also, look at the distance between the date window and the tach bezel.
-
Looks great, I would get the case DLC'd and put on rubber or strapluxe gator. Its expensive, but well worth it.
-
Aside from the thickness, the bracelet looks amazing compared to the GEN.
-
no date at six like on gen and the subdial spacing is no good...too far apart on the rep
-
I think this one is perfect, provided the "80" gets fixed. If not I'd go with the V1 half dot, the 80 would drive me nuts.
Hopefully they'll keep sending messages back and forth. The competition is good for us. It'll result in the prices coming back to earth.
