Hi mate, can you tell me if your date wheel is perfectly aligned?
Thanks
Define perfectly aligned ? LOL
The dates are actually well matched. Perhapds slightly bottom biased on same dates, but certainly not all. This can easily be fixed by bending the dial feet to align properly. I honestly don't get the "horror" of the date alignment, when it can simply be fixed with dial orientation. The factories can easily get this right. Although there may be a thousand variations, I am sure an alignment jig will be easy to source for the fix

APs have been getting my attention lately. Guess it is the hobby. V7 diver today

One of the best changes ever!

That ST assembly should fit the gen insert without any issues. It's a tight fit, but it is well worth it in the end. Don't shave the insert

I'm becoming intamately familiar with this piece. I've also learned that I have to work on my patience. I'm used to working around the house and muscling things together. Need to work on my finesse. Here it is with a quick test fit:
It's the beauty and pain of this hobby. The end result if you keep working at it is a watch that is uniquely yours and does exactly as you want.

Very nice indeed.

Looking for a 42mm Ti case for a custom build. Could be from any v1-v5 model. Need the complete case, bezel and case back and plots if you have them. Trying to build a custom black themes dial with custom blasted Ti case. Thanks in advance.E

Good idea about the 2click stem. Need to try that.
I did that for the 1016 I sold I few months back and also on the McQueen build I had for my birthday last year. Works like a charm. Plan on doing that next to my wife's 14270.
So far the average of the 2840 movements is decent enough that I can just buy one for the donor parts and sell the rest to someone that may need it.

The 2840 does not have holes drilled for case clamps. You can see it quite clearly in the pic above. You either have to use a movement holder with integral case clamps or glue everything together.
Of any real way to secure a dial to it.

Looks great just like that.
Bravo!

D, you can use the setting parts from the 2840 to have just two clicks at the stem. One for winding and another one for time set. Side the 5513 doesn't have a date it works great. Ditch the rest. 2846 all the way.

Oh suki!!! J, that is the start of great things indeed.

The key in this game is patience and perseverance. Have a little stash for when those rare moments become a reality and snatch the parts. Having a clear goal of what you want is KEY as well.

I used my Safari V1 diving to 60ft awhile back and wore it for 30+ days without it losing time. Sold that one and now I have the white rubber clad, Navy, Orchard Road and the Tour Auto on the way!
Your Inbox is full brother.
I am looking at old posts regarding AP roos and customizing them as I just purchased a V1 chrono.I wanted to know if you did anything to the watch before diving to 60ft.Thanks in advance. -
I'm
Really digging it. I can see it on a few 5514s and fitting the look just fine. Specially precomex.

In the US JMB is the man. Worst case scenario he can do it if there's no one in EU

Looks damn Good brother!
The date jumper has a little jewel. I'd hate for you to take the whole thing apart just to look for it, but there is a little jewel that engages the disc and "snaps" it to the next date.
Second hand seemed to be the culprit. I've got a Clark's second hand on there now and have no issues.
I bought a new date jumper, but it doesn't fit. It seems to be taller (there is clearly a shim or washer under the actual head that makes it this way. The date disc did transition smoother with it on; however, I can't get the dial on with this. I put back on the original after bending it a bit and lubing it up and it works, its just not snappy. I'll have to sort that out.
I then discovered that the date finger...well, had no finger. Not sure how it was even pushing the disc. It seems it may have broken off as there were now two holes (one to sit on the wheel and presumably one where the finger used to be). I replaced it with a gen and it seems to Ben running well.
Final mods will be aging the hands to match the dial and then tearing it down to send to jmb for lug holes. I'm pretty disappointed in the EL fitment. I've tried two sets of gen end links and their still a bit gappy. I guess I'll just have to live with it until I find a different case down the line.
Here she is as it is now. -
Thanks for the insight guys. I'm prob gonna go with a gen dial
If you do, make sure it is the correct dial for the case. I know sometimes prices of "gen" and gen dials may lead us on an entire different path.
-
Easiest way is to get a Sean dial or alike
With correct
Feet position.

Thanks. Yeah, there's some bits I'll have to take care of like that. It'll come all apart once I figure out the date disc. I still can't get it to change over consistently. It seems like the finger that sits between the teeth doesn't want to spring back in to place to push it all the way to the new date. Keeps getting stuck between the two.
I suggest changing the date jumper then. I did it for my y3135 with gen date disc and it solved the issue. At least for me.
