  1. At last - someone actually admits to liking it! I posted a couple of threads about the new 007 and it was slated !! It definately grows on you but maybe not as quickly as other SMP models. Here's a few of pictures of the gen:
  2. Sorry, I only have a 7" wrist ! This is my BR 01-94 Chrono. I've only put it on for these shots so if you want it please PM me - I've decided it's not for me... Sorry about the awful blurry shots - my first attempt !!
  3. I'm with you on that ! The gen is not bad (for an Omega !) but as you say, not the best design - it's a little lacking compared with the others in the SMP family and you're dead right about the rep not being too clever ! - the spiral design on the rep is bright chrome type material whereas the spiral on the dial of the gen appears to be more subtle (I haven't seen "one in the flesh" so I'm going by the pics I have seen). The spiral on the rep is so "in yer face" that it masks the 007 on the second hand ! Being a real Omega fan though - I love em all !!
  4. How can you call the new spiral dial limited edition 007 a POS - it's still an OMEGA and there are FAR WORSE looking watches out there (ie most ROLEXES !!).
  5. Hi Watchman - I have exactly the same dilemma as you ! I have looked in the Omega section and I can't find a direct comparison betwen the two. I would be very interested if anyone has done one. The obvious differences are the dials (007s or wavy), the hour markers and the case backs but also, the writing above the 6 O'clock marker. Other than that, they appear to be virtually the same watch !
  6. Sounds simple enough - I'll try it on my 007 SMP. I bought a (cheap) Asian movement black dial SMP for $108 from Andrew and it came with a perfectly aligned bezel !! - C'est la vie !
  7. Absolutely !! - The black PO with orange numbers is my choice whereas I wear my trusty black SMP 300 as my "workhorse" - the PO is for "best" !!
  8. It's like coming home to a freshly decorated house!!
  9. 50mm !! - WOW, that's a beast !! (Forearms like Popeye required ??!!)
  10. I'm not overly keen on "gold"watches as they can look "tacky" (I own an Ingersoll in 14K gold which I probably wear once or twice a year if the "occasion" is right !). Having said that the combination of highly polished SS and gold on BTs Navitimer looks awesome !!
  11. I'm sticking my head over the parapet here to ask a very "nooby" question (so please excuse my ignorance if this has been answered a million times before !): Can you overwind an auto watch? I think I read The Zigmeister saying that it is not possible and you should wind a new watch 100 times on receipt to tighten up the springs... Is he right ?
  12. I guess the lack of response says it all !! ("Very ugly" is a bit harsh though !!)
  13. Is that your UNBIASED opinion (as an Omega freak !!) Hey Fitmic - you've changed your avater - I liked the old one !!
  14. Thanks for all your replies - I'm all wised up !! Funny, as an Omega freak, I always thought Rolexes were ugly beasts compared to the Omegas (especially with that gr't big bug eye thing on the crystal !!) but I'm actually starting to look at a "Noobmariner" (or a Sea Dweller) as my next rep purchase (am I'm sickening for something ???!!).
  15. I recently bought a rep of the Special Edition (2006) 007 from Paul at Wo-Mart. I have seen very little mention of it on RWG and I was just wondering what the general consensus of opinion was on this particular rep. My first impression is that the blue colour of the bezel looks a bit "dull" and the swirling (gun barrel) effect on the dial is shiny (the pics of the gen on the Omega website show it to be matt). The whole dial looks very "cluttered" and the "007" on the second hand is completely lost against the background of the dial. Sorry I can't post a picture at the mo but I would be very grateful for any comments on the accuracy of this particular rep. I am assuming that the lack of info on the forum means that is is not a popular model ??
  16. Great review !! As an owner of the latest version of the 42.5mm PO I have been wondering whether to go for the 45mm "Ultimate". It was great to see the comparison shot of the other Omegas together (but I'm still undecided as the sheer size of the 45mm version looks fairly awesome !!).
