  1. I'm quite disappointed with their communication skills really.. 3 emails so far, been waiting for 10 days for a response and not yet a beep from Vaccum or his team.. I'm a returning customer and the most thing I hate is to be ignored. It takes but a second to respond. Just say you're busy. Say you're not willing to take my project, just don't ignore me. If returning customers are treated poorly like this, I wonder how new customers are treated like.
  2. Nanuq's trick might actually work. It's just that I don't like artificial solutions, and fake patina color is just fake patina.. Try to bake it in the oven for 1 hr at 220 degrees. On a UK website there have been guys experimenting with this, some have been leaving it in longer and getting different colors on both pearl and insert, a nice brown can be achieved with longer baking, I've done it with 30 minutes at 250 degrees for my 5514 COMEX build and got a nice vintage pearl effect without damaging the insert.
  3. I was just browsing CL and this listing came out. I thought to spread the word. Good luck http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/jwd/4210664320.html
  4. wtf.. what are the major tells Lion? Please share. He bought it from some guy in Vegas in 2007.. lol whatever. and what about the certificates and papers. Can those be replicated too? Thanks buddy
  5. I didn't like that insinuation either Lion. besides the fact that the guy's acct. is only a month old on the Bay.. Idk. This is crazy
  6. Comrades, friends and fellow replicans, I'm seeking your expertise once again. Another 1665 case set (midcase and CB) has floated onto the surface. Seller claims it's 100% original. 1978 circa. Will you take a look for me? Pictures attached. Much appreciated.
  7. CLASSIC! Please tell me yours is GEN. Nanuq! lol but It's well justified..
  8. Thanks Fred! Just sent him a request for a clear full frontal shot
  9. Afternoon Denim! About the age, He says it belonged to his original 1665 GW Circa 1979. He had it replaced recently with a GEN NOS one and so this one needs to go. Good point about the friction ring! What do you think of the bezel teeth? deep and nicely defined as they should? I used to follow a thread here w/ comparative shots of Gen. vs Phong or something, but I lost the link.. Here is another shot from the back:
  10. Until my friend Valty gets back at me, I thought to consult our venerable Gurus on RWG and seek advice. This part is offered to me as Genuine 1665 Great White Complete Bezel set of which I've been in hot pursuit. Seller seems like a decent guy, but it's always good to check. Fellow members who lack enough knowledge, please don't issue your Fatwa, as it might lead into confusion. Thanks
  11. Dude, the project is halted. You can't get it. There was a batch of a few samples and that's it. Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect

    and the wrist shot..
  18. I just wanted to contribute with this ONE of a kind build and share it with our beautiful RWG Community. This was ATHAYA's personal 6154. The guts was originally Unitas on hard CB, but I had a vision for this piece which I then discussed with A. He welcomed the idea and together we embarked on realizing the project. First, a small historical Overview: The 6154 is an extremely rare Stainless Steel [cushion-shaped] Diver's wristwatch that was originally made for the Egyptian Navy during the rule of King Farouk of Egypt around 1954, using, as requested, the old style radioactive dials. A very small number of watches was produced without protecting device. The reference 6154 is especially known for the flat shape of its 47 mm case. Compared with references 6152 and 6152/1, the 6154 is even more elegant and almost “streamlined” which gives it a special nickname in the Vintage Panerai world: “the Maserati amongst Ferraris”. You can compare the different shapes of 6152/1, 6152 and 6154 watches in the book “Vintage Panerai – The References”, chapter II / page 174-175. The Ref. 6154 is featured in pages 184-201 of the book. A very rare Ref. 6154 fetched the remarkable auction result of 326,500 USD recently , setting a new world record for a Vintage Panerai watch: REF: LOT 268 on Christie’s Sale 2610 Important Watches (New York, December 14th, 2012). To the Breakdown: Movement – Genuine Swiss Cortebert 616 [Closest movement to the original ROLEX Cort. 618] with proper engravings on the bridge. The movement is naturally aged (from the late 50s) and is fully regulated. POWER RESERVE passed the 43 hour test when fully wound. Case set – Athaya - Attention paid to the minutest detail on every lip, corner, curve, everything. Each micron is forged according to the genuine model. The mid case is made of heavy bronze which keeps aging beautifully over time. Exhibition Caseback & Bezel are SS with proper OPB engravings. Crown – There is still a lot of room for improvement on this one. It had opted for the Bronze one, but the batch turned out to be of low quality and prone to scratches, so we agreed to use a SS one and burn it to give it a bronze look. Not the greatest result to be quite honest, I'm looking for a genuine Brevet crown. For those of you of have it, please send me a pm. Dial – The cherry on top! Hand made ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL. Aged with natural cracks, the lume is adorable. Dial flames like a torch. Hands – high tube double pencils. "Slightly" Aged. Top plexi – Q24 / Tropic 24: outside diameter is 40.1mm, Height at center is aprox. 6.2mm, height at edge is aprox. 3.4mm, thickness at lip is 1.1mm / Comparison of clarity and distortion/magnification versus Gen Trop 24 is very decent. Strap – Looks like it was stripped off an Ammo or something. I might upgrade this in the future. I'm considering a leather NATO from Gunny. Advices on hide and color are more than welcome! Not the most professional pictures I must admit, and they sure do this babe little justice, but they should tend to purpose. ENJOY
  19. Thank you Chief. Yes.. I believe it's fairly priced. But it's always good to have more than one opinion. Btw, I haven't been able to contact Phong for two weeks. His website is down since. Even emails are bouncing off his address with a Delivery Status FAILURE Notification. I hope he wasn't pinched or something.. http://jewelryandwatch.com/ Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
  20. I appreciate your valuable input Bear. It's a keeper then? At least temporarily. I'm still planning to buy a Gen. At a certain pt in the near future. I just haven't been able to find anything interesting yet for under $2,000 I will upload more pictures as soon as I receive it. More opinions are welcome! Thanks folks Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
  21. I bought this from DW a few days ago (still in shipping). It's a V72. I don't understand why he insists on sending crappy low res quality control pics. I asked him twice for better pictures, until I gave up.. Whatever. I appreciate your input gentlemen. He charged me $290 for it. I hope I didn't commit anything stupid. Thank YOU Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
  22. what about The (32500) next to your name? Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
  23. Does this mean that 1665 seekers should give up hope?
  24. Lol Thank you folks! Let's hear HH opinion about this, then maybe we can ask the mods to take care of the logistics aspect of the fund raising. As Ephry puts it, resources are abundant, especially if we stand united. We're all but one family after all. Personally I've never felt any competition or grudge on this forum. Only fabulous members who wouldn't spare a thought or dime to bring the Replica world into another level. Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
  25. Then I suggest we all contribute and book HH a flight to China! With $10-15 each, we can easily raise a handsome amount and cover some of our ambassador's trip costs to the Far East, pending HH approval of course Sent from my  Typøs are courtesy of iPhone Autocorrect
