  1. My Beloved 026K on a Greg Stevens Design Crazyhorse
  2. U1 U2 U1 U2 Ah hell.... How about both?
  3. 292K today on salty croc. Unless the lugs fall off that is. In which case I'll be carrying a pocket watch.
  4. Biggest difference is the thickness. The 243 is a chunky watch. Doesn't really feel heavier than the average Luminor. My 243 lume is still visible when my alarm goes off in the morning (just checked that last week). I have the N fac version and I think that the crystal is quite clear. Just compared the daylight color of the lumed markers between my 029 and 243, and the 029 looks maybe a slight bit greenish compared to the slight yellow tint on the 243 dots.
  5. This hobby is like most others, ya gotta pay to play. My problem is that I have TOO many hobbies. Besides watches, I collect knives. A good quality custom knife can cost alot more than one of the reps we buy. Boating..... There's a hobby that is a black hole for funds. The common joke about the name BOAT is that it stands for Break Out Another Thousand. Besides all the upgrades and maintenance that a high performance boat needs, we live in a world of high fuel costs. The engine in my boat is 502 cubic inches, and on a fun filled weekend of tearing up and down the lakes I might go through two or three 58 gallon tankfulls of gas. Now THAT'S painful. I also race RC cars. In a season of racing I'll go through three or four nitro motors per class that I'm racing in. A competition nitro motor runs $300+, and one constant in RC racing is that SOMETHING breaks every race day. The list of money pits that I call hobbies go on. The thing is, unless your hobby is sitting on a park bench watching people go by, MOST hobbies cost SOMETHING.
  6. Shaken, not Stirred........
  7. WOW! I certainly won't be editing many of my posts! That big yellow bar is a slap in the face. From now on my typos stay in no matter how bad! LOL
  8. 'SUPPOSEDLY', Angus at Puretime has a new in-house watchsmith on staff who will be doing servicing. Most of the other TD's who offer it usually farm the servicing out. Unless you are either VERY experienced at what the movement should look like after servicing I don't know how someone could even be certain that it was even done.
  9. Plop..... Plop.... Plop.... Proprof!
  10. Personally..... I think that an SOH is at it's best when on mesh. I don't have one as of yet, but it's on my short list. When I get one, it will be on mesh. In person the blue looks stunning! I've seen alot of folks sell their non-chrono SOH's when they get a chrono version, so I'd guess that it's popular. As far as the A7750 goes, I have 9 or 10 chrono reps with the 7750 in them. Other than one flakey watch that I got from a member on a different forum, all are running great.
  11. Actually the sailcloth isn't all that different looking from the kevlar TG strap. I know that HKtan does kevlar work. He did a custom kevlar for my Breitling Blacksteel. Only problem dealing with HK is that the wait time is usually months.
  12. OK I got curious so I read up on PVD and DLC. PVD is the actual process that deposits the coating material onto the metal (Physical Vapor Deposition). It can deposit many different types of material, including gold and platinum. I had known that, but until now I thought that DLC was a different process. DLC isn't a process, but an actual type of coating. It's almost always applied using PVD as the method of depositing, and usually in several layers. DLC coatings can be either a matt finish or extremely shiny, depending on how it's applied. My son-in-law's Ducati has some custom bits on it that are DLC and are shiny and slick as snot. That's why I was thinking that all DLC was shiny.
  13. How does the Ti case hold up to daily wear? I've held off on buying a Ti Pam because I'm afraid it will be a scratch magnet.
  14. These watches have been backordered from day one. Been comming in in batches, and a few lucky folks put their orders in and got them right away. Most have had to wait though.
  15. Maybe a Brady straps sailcloth?
  16. This has been discussed ad infinitum over on RG. The other issue with using the GIFT option with PayPal is that you are basically ripping PP off. Like them or hate them, they DO provide a transfer service. The key word here being 'SERVICE'. They started the gift option as a way for mommy and daddy to send junior some cash when he parties his allowence away ay college, ect. Unless you use a credit card, PP doesn't charge for this. So.... if you are using the 'GIFT' option to buy items, you are basically stealing their normal commission for the transfer. I understand that our hobby is a 'Grey' market at best, but within the grey walls I try to be as upstanding and honest as possible. Stealing PP's tiny 3% just doesn't fit my idea of honesty. I feel that if you are worried about a buyer, find another way to transfer the money, or find a different buyer. If someone tells me that he wants payment as 'GIFT' I will offer to pay the PP fees. If they insist, I just move on down the road to the next watch that catches my eye. It's worked perfectly for me for the last 30 transactions on RG. /Soapbox
