  1. so he is not just a scammer, but an identity thief. Will you care to list the details of the scam here, for the benefit of those not on RWI? Thank you
  2. yes, but getting paid for a service does not disqualify one from being good, and doing something for free does not mean that you are good as well. My point was that SSteel, being an established watch modder, is entitled, and in fact expected to charge in return for a job well-done. If you are getting the service for free from him, he is not obligated to you in any way, and merely doing a favor. Without payment and duty of care owed to you for a paid service, your watch may or may not be fixed according to your expectation. So I think I do know. Your local watchmaker will charge you a fee for the repair and so will SSteel. That is all fair and good.
  3. I'm sure you won't help him for free either M lol.
  4. of course. But you need to understand that because rep movements are often badly assembled, the shipping process often causes parts to come loose, get jammed in the gears and seize up the movement completely. So yes, sending the watch back to China to get it fixed is your entitlement. But you face the risk of the incoming China custom, and then the same transit risk again when it comes back to you.
  5. All broken movements can be fixed. In this hobby you must learn to be patient. I will suggest you send it to a modder to have it converted to low beat and also serviced, to make it more accurate and reliable.
  6. I am no Rolex expert but this looks rep even to a layman like me.
  7. When you say PH I assume Philippines? Anyway, wherever you are from, welcome!

  10. Thank you for sharing and I hope you get well soon. Take it easy meanwhile and don't stress yourself out. You are right.. stress and anger can be silent and slow killers.
  11. Oh this is the 2018 Gold theme with ruthenium dial. None of the TDs have it at the moment.

  18. I agree that double ARs look nice for some watches, but for APs, it actually makes the watch look inaccurate as gen AP crystals are all single AR. Also, the double AR accentuates the flaws on the tapisseries and printing for the rep. Double AR crystals are also prone to surface scratches and marring. My gen 15400, with single AR crystal
  19. Being a watch modder myself, I am always against the term "simple fix" used by watch owners, along with the inherent and implicit assumptions that it will only take x minutes, and involving a simple "xxx" procedure. Yes you could be totally correct, but it will be fair to let the person who will be doing the fix comment on how simple/difficult it is. Different watchmakers/makers have different skill levels, and what you assume as "simple' may be laborious for the guy actually doing it. Competence, knowledge, experience and patience come into play when determining if a fix is "simple" or otherwise. In your case, the job requires the modder to dismantle the watch, hands, crown/stem etc to get to the dial. The marker adhesive then needs to be carefully removed and realigned, and then fixed in place. The job requires a good eye for it, and of course, steady hands and a delicate touch to get it done well. If it is so simple, why not spend 10min to do it yourself? I think it is not prudent to pre-assess the difficulty of the job and the time it will need to do it. For the watchsmith, you can try contacting @SSTEEL. He is not in the UK but he is based in Europe. He will be able to solve your issue, but once again, leave the assessment of the job to someone qualified to make them.

  23. He Hello Jim Welcome to the forums! I am from Singapore too and so are a few others I know. To answer your question, the delivery of the watches will be door to door and you will not be taxed. You just pay the dealer and wait for the watches to arrive.
  24. lovely collection you have there
  25. None of the rep AP ROOs are accurate out of the box. I think the word "incredible" and in CAPS, is very much exaggerated, once you are aware of the flaws. Doesn't matter 42, 44, or v1, v2. I disagree that any rep ROO is "incredible". "Visually acceptable from a distance" is the furthest I will go with ANY rep ROO. If you own the gen, you will understand what I am talking about. If you do not, even the stock reps will look good. In this hobby, you buy what you like, and deal with the flaws, or get it modded to your satisfaction.
