  1. Happy Birthday rockrover!

  2. I would think the shortest (and cheapest) distance between two points here would be to buy a new rep and swap...Unless Angus can source one for you.
  3. IMO I think the UPO, on my 7.5" wrist looks perfect, if not a little small! Honestly I wouldn't mind if it was 47. When I first put it on I was worried that I got the 42mm by mistake! Then I broke out my digital calipers and sure enough...45.14mm (not including crown). To me the 45 wears small as the profile is thin. It is such a beautiful design I don't mind it being 'out there' at all. O'yea, if you are on the fence about orange or black, I chose the orange and am glad I did. I'm a dive watch freak and have always played conservative by choosing black bezels. It's nice now having a sweet beauty that is different from far. Either way, this is one nice rep!
  4. Hey Mario! I've had good luck with Trusty. Good communication, and he really seems to have the buying/selling process down. I've also had a good experience with Timeshop, Marvelous, and Puretime. Some have had good luck with the 7750 movements, and others have not. It can be a real crap-shoot. Thus many choose to purchase a non-functioning crono to ensure longevity. Also service of this movement can be hard to source locally, so make sure you keep that in mind. Don't let that scare you though! If you ask for detailed QA video's of the functioning crono movement, date/time hack/set, you'll probably be okay. If the dealer won't provide that, then go somewhere else. There are a lot of trusted dealers and there is high competition amongst them. Also make sure you know the correct date/time set procedure for a crono BEFORE you set the time/date! With any rep, forget the dealers water proofing process/adder. Even with a non-crono watch, the dealers thoroughness is questionable, and none that I know use a submersion test. No matter with a crono anyway as having any long-term waterproofing reliability won't happen. Keep that girl away from water! Good luck! --D
  5. I always ask my dealer to ensure that the hack, date-set, and time-set are all functional as a step in my QA notes. For some reason when I started getting into reps and ordering, I felt like I was asking for too much in my QA notes, so I would only ask for basic front, back, side pics of the watch. Then after I started combing the forums, I started noticing that (rarely) it seems some run into movement problems, and started asking for a lot of QA in addition to the basic pics. If the dealer is trusted across all of our hobbies forums, then 99% of the time (IME) you'll get a good watch with good movement IF you get very specific in your notes. I'll even casually mention that I'm a member of rep forums and let them know that I'll do a nice review on the sites after receiving their product. Everything helps! Heck, $200+ for a asian clone ETA movement rep really isn't cheap if it's DOA. The crown stripping (as you know!) on UPO's is a known issue, and there are tutorials on the r&r with a gen. I JUST received my UPO from Marvelous Rep and I'm very satisfied, but I know I'll have to treat the crown with kid-gloves to avoid the striping issue. As far as the movement goes, many chose to locate a Swiss ETA and replace their Asian ETAs with them. It's cheaper than a new rep, and if you're lucky, cheaper than a few return shipping costs back to your dealer. Regardless, I would let your dealer know about the problem and see what he/she says.
