  1. For Rolex, you're not getting that level out of the box. Period. You need to go to a modder like TC or BK, and they're going to charge you $500. Other brands like Panerai or Hublot, you can get something pretty good for around $300.
  2. There's a difference between an Oyster Perpetual Date, which is an auto and still in production; and an Oysterdate, which is a handwind and was discontinued in the early '80s.
  3. I just measured mine. 10:00 - 4:00, not counting the chrono pusher, is 45mm. They do make 48mm models. Could that be it...?
  4. Just watch the 6:00 subdial. Some models have the wrong number of little "ticks" in-between the larger markers (4, the correct number is 3). It sounds like a small thing, but on a watch that has basically no other flaws on the top side it stands out.
  5. 1. Stop whining. It's Saturday, traffic is lower. 2. The Noob v3 is really good out-of-the-box. The major flaw is the Incabloc/swan-neck assembly, which is on the underside, so as long as it stays on your wrist nobody will see it. That's the part that Marlin works on. Not to bag on Marlin's business, but unless you're planning a ripoff sale I don't see the point.
  6. I don't know why people bother with reps of the OEM straps. For the same money, just get a Panatime. It's totally normal in the Paneristi world to have a different strap, or a bunch of different straps. They put a screwdriver in the box, fercryinoutloud.
  7. Exactly. Don't want to get busted? Don't put your rep on Instagram. And again it shows how spoiled we are around here with our Super Ultimate 1:1s. There's stuff on there that this forum wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
  8. Oh, really? http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=334933 Didn't fool them. (Pro tip: if you post the same pics on a gen site and a rep site on the same day, someone will notice. You're not the only one in the world who reads both.)
  9. Buy it from TC. Well, to be precise, ask TC if he'll sell you a bracelet separately. Look under "TC Submariner" lower down on the front page.
  10. It depends on how easy or difficult the PRC government makes it to convert bitcoins into yuan. If it's too much trouble, they won't do it.
  11. TC is a modder. He takes the watches that the dealers provide and does additional work on them. Obviously this is going to cost more than just getting one from a dealer yourself. Only you can decide if the extra work is worth the extra money. BK does the same.
  12. Really the best that you can hope for out-of-the-box is passing the "five feet away" test: can someone standing five feet away from you look at your wrist and tell it's a rep? If you let someone take a close look, it will get caught.
  13. Link to RWI Panerai guide is broken.
  14. There are the lower-end Germans: Aristo, Junkers, Graf Zeppelin, Laco (might be pushing it on the price), etc.
  15. If you're wearing it regularly, it should only need to be wound when it's run down all the way and stopped. As far as the date ... again, if it's on every day the date will keep up. If you're planning on wearing it in rotation and resetting it a lot, then you might want to get it fixed.
  16. You'll get an email with instructions on how to pay them.
  17. That was my first thought also. There's no way to tell anything else from that one picture.
  18. A few TAG Heuer signs too. Obviously Rolex's "Official Timepiece of F1" contract isn't exclusive.
  19. You really do think I'm making this up, don't you? OK. The formula is: Pressure change (in Pascals) equals one-half the density times the velocity squared. 1 Pascal = .00001ATM. The density of fresh water is 1000kg per square meter, seawater is 1030kg/m^3. Velocity is in meters per second. Raising the pressure by 1ATM requires a velocity of 14.25m/s, which is 51km/h or 32mph. Like I said, Physics 101.
  20. It's the scientific answer. Anyone who passed Physics 101 could explain it to you. Michael Phelps might get it up to 3m. The idea that dynamic pressure multiplies the static pressure is just plain wrong.
  21. The "dynamic pressure" thing is highly exaggerated. At most, you're adding 2m worth. You aren't physically capable of moving your arm fast enough to cause a problem.
